DR. LAWRENCE PLASKETT WHAT IS IRIDOLOGY? Iridology is the art of iris analysis. The iris is connected to the brain via the hypothalamus and can give naturopathic read outs on tissue conditions in various parts of the body. With training and practice it is possible to read signs indicative of biochemical, emotional and environmental influences that are hard to determine by other means. We can thus interpret health (and even aspects of personality) by close examination of the eyes, using suitable illumination and a magnifying glass. The close relationship between naturopathic iridology as an assessment tool and nutritional therapy and other naturopathic disciplines continues and grows closer. Now Iridology can make a huge contribution to complementary therapeutic practice and enhanced by our wonderful digital collection of eye photographs, the learning process with the Plaskett International College is a profound and exciting one. We teach Iridology quite separately from other topics and anyone who possesses, or expects to possess, a practitioner's qualification in any therapeutic discipline, may join the course. Examples of how iridology can help practitioners Did you know that some iris features are so very plain that you can see them with the naked eye in ordinary social contact? You can see from two or three feet away in many cases that the person has a toxic digestive system (a strong wide dark ring around the pupil margin). You can often tell that the person has an overactive stomach (a narrow bright white ring very close to the pupil). You can tell when the skin is overlaid with toxins so that the skin's function in excreting toxins from the body is jeopardised (very narrow dark ring around the iris margin). You can tell in some people (rather advanced cases) that they suffer badly from sodium and potassium imbalance and have placed themselves at potential risk from cholesterol accumulation (the so-called corneal arcus, a white or off-white cloudy deposit, usually fairly thick, around the iris margin).  Another example is the ring of spots or 'tophi' represented by the lymphatic rosary. Its mere presence tells one that there is sluggishness in the lymphatic system. When these tophi are darkly pigmented, the situation gives rise to concern for the possible generation of lymphatic illness. Using the precise positioning of iris reflex areas contained on the iris chart, one may distinguish many key points of analysis. Areas of stress and tension can be pinpointed by identifying 'contraction furrows’. Past injuries and adhesions show themselves as contortions of the normally regular and even iris fibres. You can answer questions like:- Is it the pancreas or the liver that is responsible for the trouble? Is the patient's hypertension caused by a defect of or toxic deposits in the particular brain area that is geared to control blood pressure? One of Jensen's rather dramatic illustrations is of the iris of a man who has just been shot. It shows the precise areas of tissue damage within the body and the response is very fast. The number of potential examples is almost without limit. The above may suffice to show the types of things that iridology can do for practitioners. We hope it will help you decide to study Iridology with the Plaskett International College. Course Overview The course covers the nature of iris observation, the nutritive zone, the iris chart, the chronic and acute, the intestinal and stomach zones and nerve collarette, the constitution type, respiratory system, lacunae, open lacuna, inherent weaknesses, the organs of elimination, other organs, special signs, complete diagnosis of a subject. The treatment of the topic follows the principles of Bernard Jensen in the USA. Once the basics have been learnt, the course teachings then extend considerably by bringing in the work of Dorothy Hall and of Dr Josef Deck, both of which are the subject of a special presentation during the course. The published insights of Farida Sharan and Harri Wolf, while not separately presented, also influence the presentation of the course material. Both the Australian School, (Dorothy Hall) and the German School, (Dr Deck/Harri Wolf), offer an added dimension to the study and interpretation of the constitution. PERSONALITY ASPECTS & CONSTITUTIONAL TYPES The study focuses upon the different personality aspects, which show up in different constitutional types. Dorothy Hall gives insights into what contributes to various different types of personality and their emotional and mental responses and their pre-dispositions to health or disease. Different sorts of people can have different priorities, preferences and imperatives built into their very nature from or before birth, sometimes determining the course of their entire lives and their attitudes to the world and to other people. AN EMPATHY BETWEEN PATIENT & PRACTITIONER The course teaches an understanding of these types and facilitates an empathy between patient and practitioner. It shows how people of the differing constitutional types are likely to go out of balance either mentally or emotionally and how their vulnerability to various physical ailments varies. The German School offers a very exciting and precise approach to the constitutional types, which is really quite different, but no less helpful. It highlights variations in the susceptibility to diseases of different organs and systems. THE 3 SCHOOLS OF THOUGHT It is a prime purpose of this course, not only to teach these differing positions, but also to demonstrate how it is that all three of these major schools of Iridology embody different aspects of the truth, how each is individually valuable and how a full and deep understanding of the meaning of 'constitution' can be gained through a sympathetic synthesis of the contributions from all three of these schools. About this Virtual Instructor Led Training (VILT)  Electrification of the transportation sector will impact the power system in several ways. Besides the additional load, local impact on the grid needs to be managed by the grid operators. Simultaneously charging of many electric vehicles (EVs) might exceed the limits in specific locations. On the other hand, EVs can provide flexibility and other ancillary services that will help grid operators. This 3 half-day VILT course will provide a complete overview of integrating electric vehicles (EVs) into the power grid. It will cover the whole value chain from grid operations to the car battery. This includes the control room, possible grid reinforcement, demand side management and power electronics. This course will demonstrate the impact on the grid and solutions for a safe & cost-effective grid plan and operation, with examples of successful integration of EVs. The course will also provide vital knowledge about technology used for EVs such as power electronics, demand side management, communication and batteries. In this context, the focus will be on power electronics as it has the highest impact on the grid. The grid planning tool, pandapower, is introduced as an open source tool for power system modelling. The set-up of the training course allows for discussion and questions. Questions can be formulated by the participants upfront or during the training. This course is delivered in partnership with Fraunhofer IEE. Additionally, some self-study will be requested. Participants are invited but not obliged to bring a short presentation (10 mins max) on a practical problem they encountered in their work. This will then be explained and discussed during the VILT. A short test or quiz will be held at the end of every session/day. Trainer Our first course expert is Head of Department Converters and Electrical Drive Systems at Fraunhofer IEE and Professor for Electromobility and Electrical Infrastructure at Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences. He received his engineering degree in automation in 2008 by the THM Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen (FH Giessen-Friedberg). Afterwards he studied power engineering at University of Kassel and received his diploma certificate in 2010. In 2016 he received the Ph.D. (Dr.-Ing.) from the University of Hannover. The title of his dissertation is Optimized multifunctional bi-directional charger for electric vehicles. He has been a researcher at the Fraunhofer IEE in Kassel since 2010 and deals with power converters for electric vehicles, photovoltaics and wind energy. His current research interests include the bidirectional inductive power transfer, battery charger and inverter as well as new power electronic components such as SiC MOSFETs and chokes. Additionally, our key expert is Chairman of the IEEE Joint IAS/PELS/IES German Chapter and a member of the International Scientific Committee of the EPE Association. Our second course expert is deputy head of energy storage department at Fraunhofer IEE. Prior to this he was the Director of Grid Integration department at SMA Solar Technology AG, one of the world's largest manufacturers of PV power converters. Before joining SMA, our course expert was manager of the Front Office System Planning at Amprion GmbH (formerly RWE TSO), one of the four German transmission system operators. He holds a degree of electrical engineering of the University of Kassel, Germany. In 2003 he finished his Ph.D. (Dr.-Ing.) on the topic of wind power forecasting at the 'Institute of Solar Energy Supply Technology' (now Fraunhofer IEE) in Kassel. In 2004 he started his career at RWE TSO with main focus on wind power integration and congestion management. Our course expert is chairman of the IEC SC 8A 'Grid Integration of Large-capacity Renewable Energy (RE) Generation' and has published several papers about grid integration of renewable energy source and forecasting systems on books, magazines, international conferences and workshops. Having a dog is a joyful experience but an untrained dog will put stress and anxiety on the whole family. At Cheshire Dog Services, we want to help you enjoy your dog so are happy to provide one to one training sessions for you and your dog. Having trained many different breeds from Chihuahua’s & Yorkies – Lab’s & Spaniels to Rottweiler’s & German Shepherds, I am well versed in handling most problems in any breed. I am also a member of The Guild of Dog Trainers who acknowledge the needs of dog owners & their aim of a well behaved dog. The Guild fully understands the expectation society places on dog owners & additionally the laws which affect them all. We live in an artificial environment, which can often pose many dangers to dogs. We invite pets into our home then punish or blame them for acting up like animals do. It’s our responsibility to teach our dogs what the social boundaries are and how to live in a human environment. Even though they become trusted family members, we need to remember that fundamentally they are animals and as beautiful and loving as they are, training is key to avoid behavioral problems that will inevitably crop up. Have you ever noticed when a trainer handles a students’ dog in class – the dog performs amazingly well? The dog then goes back to his owner and forgets all that was taught. This is all down to how you handle your dog. How you are able to read the smallest changes in their body language and posture and make the confident and correct adjustments according to what is required. As a dog trainer with many years worth of experience, my aim is to pass on my skills and as much knowledge as is possible to all of my valued clients. When you and I work together, your dog will learn FASTER! You will enjoy a better-behaved dog in a shorter period of time whilst still being actively involved in the process of teaching your dog. As your dog learns the necessary concepts with me, you will experience the benefit of reducing your own frustration within your own training sessions at home. I help both you and your dog come together towards a common goal of a happy life together. Puppy 1-2-1’s Pups are never too young to learn, their Mums teach them many things in the first 7/8 weeks before we take them into our lives. We need to continue to educate the pup so they know the boundaries we expect in order for them to fit into our human ways and for you to fully enjoy these wonderful creatures. Much can be done BEFORE they have had all their inoculations and are ready to walk outside. The key to effective training is teaching your pup that whenever he does something wrong, you immediately redirect him to what you expect and then reward for getting it right. Most of all, puppy training needs to be upbeat, consistent and rewarding with regular sessions practiced and integrated into your daily routine. What I’ll cover with you at your home are: Shaping behaviour Crating Basic obedience controls of Sit, down, stand, focus & wait. Recall set up, the most important command for all dogs without a doubt! The best type of equipment use to help with training, whistles for recall, training lines, reward pouches etc. Interactive play used to build bonds and value in you as the owner/handler through ball tugs, tugs and ropes. How to teach the pup to “leave it” Advice on leads, harnesses, treats, socialising, lead control Answer any questions you may have resulting to your puppy Adolescent and mature dogs 1-2-1’s Adolescence in dogs is reached by month 7-8 & the dog becomes fully mature by month 18. We’ll cover the following in our sessions or can focus on a specific need if requiredat’s r Obedience Heel-work so your dog walks nicely by your side and doesn’t pull. Wait / Stay commands for both obedience and safety Interactive play and bond building to aid recall Recall development is essential for all dogs big and small. “Leave it” command so the dog ignores what its told to leave Focus will allow a higher level of obedience. I believe positive reinforcement training is the best way to create a happy and confident dog who understands what is expected of them. I teach owners how to establish boundaries at home and employ problem behaviour prevention strategies from early puppyhood onwards. Training and behaviour problems are resolved without the punishment-based techniques that commonly result in fear, aggression, or deterioration of the bond between dog and owner. Instead I utilise positive methods based on well-established learning theories and behavioural science that are humane, practical and effective. I teach marker-based training, either with a clicker or word, combined with rewards of all kinds (e.g., food, toys, play, and praise). All my training sessions reflect a comprehensive understanding of the dog’s natural behaviour, and take into respect learning abilities as well as the dog’s mental and physical developmental stages. In my classes, I strive to create a relaxed and enjoyable learning experience as I believe that the human part of the equation needs as much support and understanding as the canine component. Most people learn more quickly when not subjected to criticisms and negative feedback and therefore, a positive approach to the training of the people is an integral part of all our classes. He was previously involved in research on power generation equipment with Atomic Energy of Canada Limited at their Chalk River and Whiteshell Nuclear Research Laboratories. While working at OPG, he acted as a Training Manager, Engineering Supervisor, System Responsible Engineer and Design Engineer. During the period of time, he worked as a Field Engineer and Design Engineer, he was responsible for the operation, maintenance, diagnostics, and testing of gas turbines, steam turbines, generators, motors, transformers, inverters, valves, pumps, compressors, instrumentation and control systems. Further, his responsibilities included designing, engineering, diagnosing equipment problems and recommending solutions to repair deficiencies and improve system performance, supervising engineers, setting up preventive maintenance programs, writing Operating and Design Manuals, and commissioning new equipment. Later, he worked as the manager of a section dedicated to providing training for the staff at the power stations. The training provided by him covered in detail the various equipment and systems used in power stations. In addition, he has taught courses and seminars to more than four thousand working engineers and professionals around the world, specifically Europe and North America. He has been consistently ranked as 'Excellent' or 'Very Good' by the delegates who attended his seminars and lectures. He written 5 books for working engineers from which 3 have been published by McGraw-Hill, New York.
