To prove to myself and others that I could shine in the exciting world of airline travel, I joined Thomas Cook Airlines in 2006. Training came to me as a sideways step in 2009, within my quest to increase my knowledge of the workings of the airline. Building on my initial experience, training became the main part of my role, as I enjoyed both the interaction with the trainees and the opportunity to pass on skills and knowledge. During my 11 years as a trainer with Thomas Cook, I logged over 3500 hours in the classroom, with over 1500 students, including both cabin crew and pilots. That does not include the hundreds of hours of training that took place during flights, to and from destinations all over the world. I subsequently went on to spend 4 years as a guest speaker, as part of Sheffield College's aviation department, all whilst still flying with Thomas Cook Airlines.

Come and learn how to get the best out of yourself. The Nottingham class is a friendly group with students of all ages and abilities – but you do need to be 16 or over and able to get on and off the floor easily Be fit, be healthy, be happy, be calm, be strong, be flexible, be baffled, be mindful, be enlightened – be human! You will be introduced to a range of exercises that make up Lishi. These include: Daoist Taijiquan (Tai Chi) forms including the Square Yard, Flying Hands and sword and post forms Kai Men – a system of Daoist Yoga to open up the meridians Dao Yin – breathing exercises for good health and energy cultivation Qi Gong – learn how to use and direct your intrinsic energy Feng Shou (Hand of the Wind) Kung Fu – a dynamic system of self-defense! All you need is loose comfortable clothing (e.g. Tracksuit bottoms, T-shirt and trainers) and some indoor shoes (we wear black gym pumps, but clean trainers will do).

Naturally, we are delighted with our examination results at KS4 and KS5. Giulia Drummond is a singer-songwriter, percussionist, poet and actress creating mystical atmospheres with her hauntingly beautiful voice and musical talent. Her musical background is filled with charmed sonorities from all over the world, from Afro-Brazilian chants to celtic music, visiting buddhist and hindu mantras, hebrew, sephardic, gypsy music. By exploring different music traditions, she also explores the languages, singing in Portuguese, English, Spanish, French, Italian (different Italian dialects), Gaelic, Latin, Hebrew, Haitian Criollo, Yoruba, Ladino, Romani, Swedish… In constant research for as many influences she can find, Giulia refers to her practice as Magical Music. Her gigs are more like musical rituals, in which her deep voice, accompanied by a shruti box and different kinds of drums are the magical instruments, and songs take the audience to many enchanted landscapes. Giulia’s first album balão de poemagia (meaning something like poemagic balloon) was released in 2018. Celebrated as a musician in Brazil through her teaching, monthly concerts of new music and theatre performances, Giulia moved to Scotland in 2019 where she quickly became known on the Scottish music scene in Edinburgh. She regularly performs, collaborates and curates music sessions at the infamous Captains Bar in Edinburgh and Leith Folk Club, collaborates with Flamenco Nova and is a company musician of dance theatre company Slanjayvah Danza - performing traditional Scottish, Gaelic and Spanish music and song in their award winning show, 6 Feet, 3 Shoes. In 2020 Giulia released her second album, vôo dos balões entre as brumas (balloons flying in the mists). Prior to Giulia’s artistic career she worked as a psychologist in the Museum of Images of the Unconscious, an artistic sector within a big psychiatric complex called Instituto Municipal Nise da Silveira. The museum is dedicated specifically to the use of artistic expression as treatment in mental health.
