My name is Louise Campbell-Rogers. I have a BA(hons) degree in Fine Art and, as a parent myself, believe that nurturing the creative mind is so important for self confidence and well-being. Lorna Brown is a contemporary textile designer and fine art screen printer living and working in Edinburgh. B.U. designs often have a beautifully complex, layered patina creating colorful, expressive designs that are transformed through screen printing and digital processes into home wear, accessories and artworks. Lorna’s considered, process driven craftsmanship expresses her mindful, immersive placement printing style. Blessed Unrest prints are an antidote to mass production and aimed at people looking for something unique and exclusive. A graduate of Edinburgh College of Art, Lorna was awarded a 1st class Hons Degree and Post Graduate Diploma in Printed Textile Design. She also hold a City and Guilds Adult and Further Education teaching qualification. Lorna values the sharing of knowledge and skills with others and has delivered and facilitated art and design projects for many years in community, FE and HE. Working with others to expand her practice, find design solutions and research new processes are important factors in Blessed Unrest's creation process. Lorna has been involved in many exciting projects and continues to pursue new connections, support collaborations and undertake commissions. Opening in 2023 INK on MESH- Community Access Print Studio is to become a new exciting teaching space and home to the Blessed Unrest brand.

Think of the thing that makes you most happy. When you see it or get involved in it, you light up. That is what creating art does for me. The different commissions I have undertaken have taken me on journeys I might not have otherwise gone on. Connecting with the client and finding out about the reason, motivation and need for the commission sparks all kinds of ideas. My personal art practice often includes playing with a variety of art materials. Whether it's using gouache, creating digital illustrations, using ink and bamboo or cutting into cardboard envelopes to create a scene, there is always some new way to use these materials to express an idea. Biography Originally from the American Midwest, I trained as a Fine Art major, minoring in Art Education. I currently work in Edinburgh as both an artist and an art teacher of young children. All of my art lessons incorporate Art History and the creation of artworks inspired by the work of specific artists or even just a single work by an individual. My professional practice focuses on drawing people, architecture and creating pieces using a variety of art materials. My work has been exhibited throughout the UK and USA, notably the Royal Scottish Academy in Edinburgh and the Barbican Artists Studios in London. I divide my work time between creating illustration pieces for various corporate and private clients and teaching children and adults.

ECA has always been a place of experimentation and collaboration, celebrated for enabling students from different disciplines to work alongside and with each other, and for creating strong linkages with other institutions. We trace our history back to the Trustees’ Academy founded in the 1760s which, over the course of the next century, operated from some of the most iconic buildings in the city, including the University’s Old College and what is now the Royal Scottish Academy. The first Professorship in an ECA subject area was created for Music in 1839 in the name of John Reid, with the Watson Gordon Chair of Fine Art founded some forty years later, the first of its kind in the British Isles and a turning point in the teaching of the History of Art. Following the establishment of the Reid Concert series in 1841, which continues to this day, the Reid Concert Hall was built in 1859. We’ve been known as Edinburgh College of Art (ECA) since 1906, following a major reorganisation of higher art education in Scotland. At the time, we were governed by the city Council and divided into four Schools: Drawing and Painting, Design and Crafts, Architecture, and Sculpture. We moved into what is still our Main Building in 1909, when the first of our annual Revel parties took place and, by 1913, our Cast Collection had been installed in the Sculpture Court.
