London Writing School offers online writing workshops designed to offer some inspiration, make you think about the craft of writing and carve out some time in the day to get pen to paper.  Our paid courses allow you develop an idea at your own pace. Who are the workshops for? Perhaps you want to give writing a go but aren’t sure what will happen. Maybe you used to write and want to get back to it. Or you write, but would like more structured inspiration and a practice session. The sessions are designed so that you can make the most of them whatever stage you're at.  What do we do? We usually have a warm up exercise around the theme of the workshop, do a little bit free writing, and then there’s a chance to build a more structured scene that could go on to become a short story, or even spark an idea for a novel. If you are full of ideas we hope to bring them into sharper focus, if you’re feeling a bit creatively empty we aim to fill you up and get you going again.  Do we share work? In the free sessions we don’t read out work or share it with others. Come and experiment with no judgement. About the teacher I've been shortlisted for various awards and schemes including the BBC Writers’ Room, Crime Writers Association Debut Dagger, Theatre 503 seed commissions and the Launch Pad Manuscript Competition. I write in different forms. My work has been on stage in London, audio drama 'The Grove' has thousands of downloads and my novel 'A Company of Roses' is available on Amazon. I have an MA in Screenwriting and a PGCE from Goldsmiths University where my focus was on creativity.

Fiona Melrose is a novelist whose debut novel, Midwinter, was long-listed by the Women’s Prize and her second, Johannesburg was short-listed for the RSL Encore Award. Fiona Melrose is Irish but was born in Johannesburg where she grew up. She has spent the majority of her adult life in the UK, first in London and then in East Anglia. Before becoming a novelist, Fiona worked in academia, NGOs, public affairs and as an emerging markets analyst. She holds an MA in Politics and another in Creative Writing. She is currently completing her 4th novel.

Her short fiction has been widely published in journals and anthologies including Ambit, Smokelong Quarterly, The Lonely Crowd and Best Microfictions. She has won the Bath Flash Fiction Award, a Northern Writers’ Award and a Word Factory apprenticeship. Emily was recently shortlisted for The Mogford Food and Drink Writing Prize, and she won second prize in the Bath Short Story Award.

OUR STORY Hello, we are Elane and Sarah, Co-Founders of I Am In Print. We’ve known each other since our first day of secondary school – when Sarah was forced to sit next to Elane and hasn’t been able to get rid of her since. Keen life explorers we’ve shared numerous adventures, including backpacking around Australia, driving from Las Vegas to San Francisco and getting lost in Hong Kong. Despite often living in different continents we have always managed to meet halfway and have run up many a phone bill. In 2014 we set ourselves the challenge to co-write a book and spent many hours developing plots and characters.  The idea for I Am In Print bumped into us in 2018; we wanted a community to unite all writers, published and unpublished, and increase access to top agents and publishers. Broadcasts came first. Then we became the first to host online feedback sessions. We call them #Agent121 - an opportunity to meet an agent onscreen for advice on your submission package. In-person events began, then online publishing and writing days. And in 2022 we became Directors of our own I Am Writing Festival. We loved meeting members of the writing community at the festival in Winchester 2022 and in Bristol 2023.  Wherever you are on your writing journey, we would love to see you at one of events soon.

We identify local talent and provide them with opportunities to produce quality work and writing for publication and performance. We publish our own suite of publications, Write On! our free quarterly print magazine, alongside Write On! Extra online and our Write On! Audio podcast In addition to our mentoring programme The Book Challenge we offer other free writing competitions, author events, classes, workshops and other activities supported by established creative writing experts, authors and artists.
