The Digital Brand Boss

Have you ever felt like you offer more value than your business reflects? Have you ever felt like you have so much more to offer but do not know how to position yourself or your business? If this sounds familiar, then I am thrilled you found your way here. My name is Sarah also known as THE DIGITAL BRAND BOSS and I have helped countless creatives, small business owners and, coaches like you communicate the full value of what they do. About Sarah I am a passionate serial entrepreneur: a brand strategist, a graphic designer, a luxury wedding planner, a fashion designer, a chef and a coach for purpose-driven individuals on a mission. I am extremely keen on equipping and empowering new creatives, coaches and small business owners with the tools and strategies they need to turn their passion into a profitable, irresistible and sustainable brand. My Story My journey towards being a brand strategist and coach dates back to my university days. While at university, I realised friends and family would often use me as the sounding board for their projects and ideas. The more problems I was able to help them solve, the stronger my desire to learn about what it takes to build a sustainable brand was. I also discovered I was very good at branding. I started designing posters, flyers, and logos and got self-taught in the use of colours, appropriate fonts, text alignment among other branding design skills. In addition to my natural innate creative ability, I received my bachelor’s degree in Business Studies and Music from the university of Liverpool. It’s time to show up, step up and build a brand that you are passionate about. - THE DIGITAL BRAND BOSS Fast forward a few years later, I took on the volunteer role of team lead for the media and production department of a charity (my local church) of about 200 members. It was then that my desire to build brands for a living grew and took root. This drive led me to get certified as a brand strategist and coach. The more I learned, the more I realised the power of strategic branding in bringing clarity, direction and growth to businesses. As someone who has always experienced the world through creating, I started my first business during my first year at university on a part-time basis, in 2012. So, believe me when I tell you I understand what starting a business from scratch requires. Some of the businesses I launched during this period included a catering business, a clothing line and a luxury design card company. Like most business owners who are just starting out, I wasn’t sure how to build my brand and grow my business. Instead, I was focused on having pretty colours, a logo and a social media page, which from experience I learnt are not adequate in getting you the required results from your business. It was only after I started really diving into learning how to successfully build a solid and sustainable brand, that I started seeing real results. I went from feeling disjointed and confused to starting a business that I absolutely love and I’m passionate about.

Calderstones School

Liverpool

I am exceptionally proud to lead and work in such a richly diverse school community in which students with different languages, cultures and religions learn together in harmony. The school's comprehensive nature is something that we value immensely. Our students are encouraged to explore, discover and question through a range of exciting learning opportunities both within and outside the classroom. The staff endeavour to provide a calm and stimulating environment where good behaviour and mutual respect is modelled by everyone and where everyone is valued. We work closely with parents/carers and the wider community to ensure the success of our students. We believe that children deserve the best possible chances in life and that they learn best when there are strong links between home and school. Over the last few years we have spoken constantly about raised expectations and we will continue to push this throughout this academic year, particularly as we look to re-set and recalibrate on the back on the impact of the pandemic. In every aspect of school life, we will raise the bar for students and staff with the view that 'nobody rises to low expectations'. In terms our curriculum delivery, student achievement and progress, their involvement in school and community life, the ways in which students wear the uniform and present their work with pride, the ways in which they speak to each other and the behaviours that they demonstrate within the school and the community in which it resides ... in all of these ways, our expectations will be more ambitious and explicit than ever before. To this end, we have developed a ‘Manifesto for Change’ which sets out the ways in which we aim to continue our journey to excellence and identifies the long-term priorities for the school. One of our main priorities this year will be to ensure, as far as we can, that no child is left behind and that every child is challenged by the curriculum that we have in place. Students should find things difficult, although not impossible, at times. They should struggle at times and be expected to think deeply about the work that they do. They shouldn’t be getting everything right all of the time; if they are, the work is too easy and they’re not being challenged. None of this means that they shouldn’t be enjoying their learning; being challenged can be enjoyable. The curriculum is the bread and butter of our educational offer and should be inspiring a real thirst for learning; we can only do this through supporting and challenging. I hope you enjoy finding out more about our school by browsing our website. Visits are encouraged and welcomed; we would be delighted to show you around our wonderful school.

Liverpool Hope University

liverpool hope university

Liverpool

Liverpool Hope University pursues a path of excellence in scholarship and collegial life without reservation or hesitation. The University’s distinctive philosophy is to ‘educate in the round’ – mind, body and spirit – in the quest for Truth, Beauty and Goodness. Liverpool Hope University is distinctive in that it is the only university foundation in Europe (and the USA) where Catholic and Anglican colleges have come together to form an integrated, ecumenical, Christian foundation. It has happened in Liverpool and nowhere else in Europe largely because of the presence in the 1980s of two remarkable church leaders: Bishop David Sheppard, the Bishop of the Anglican Diocese, and Archbishop Derek Worlock, the Archbishop of the Catholic Archdiocese that extends from Liverpool across the north of England. They confessed their faith to each other and took their congregations to visit each other’s cathedrals, a symbolic act of Christians working together in the context of northern Irish religious sectarianism. When the three colleges (St Katharine’s 1844, Notre Dame College 1856 and Christ’s College 1964) came together the name ‘Hope’ was adopted came from Hope Street that links both cathedrals - a living parable of what can happen when Christians unite and work together for the common good. This year we celebrate 175 years since the founding of our first college in 1844; in that year there were only six universities in England (two of them medieval) but all of them did not admit women, Catholics or Jews. The founding colleges of Liverpool Hope University were among the first few institutions to begin opening up higher education to the vast majority of England’s population. The Anglican Bishops of Liverpool, going back to the founding Bishop, Bishop Ryle, were all evangelicals. The friendship of the Anglican Bishop and the Catholic Archbishop was largely based on both their sharing of a mutual faith and their commitment to the poor. This adherence to historic Christian faith remains the university’s own commitment as it seeks to live out that faith in its life and work in a secularised British academy. At the beginning of each academic term we hold a Foundation Service to restate our foundational mission and values. Our Graduation ceremonies are held in alternating years in both the Anglican and Catholic Cathedrals in Liverpool. The new name of Liverpool Hope University was chosen to represent the ecumenical mission of the Institution. Liverpool Hope University was born in July 2005, when the Privy Council bestowed the right to use the University title. Research Degree Awarding Powers were granted by the Privy Council in 2009.

Colour Analysis and Personal Styling

By Ark Jewellery by Kristina Smith

I often buy clothes and accessories spontaneously. This results in a wardrobe full of pieces that don’t pair with anything. “I have nothing to wear….” I hear you say. A handful of treasures just hanging in there before progressing into a charity giveaway bag. Not if you know your true colours that will elevate your look and mood as well as save money and the environment. Based on this colour analysis we can create a capsule wardrobe using your existing pieces and follow your colour chart to purchase matching items in future. Whatever fashion dictates, buying less and more consciously will reduce waste, save money and creates a wonderful wardrobe you can be proud of! The analysis is based on inherited tones as well as personality. Based on 4 seasons: spring and autumn being warm and summer and winter cool in the colour spectrum.

Communicating Effectively

By Lapd Solutions Ltd

We communicate daily in many ways, including email, phone, text, Zoom, Teams, Google Meets, Slack, and even that old-fashioned thing, what was it now... oh yes, talking face-to-face. But, when we look at communication closely and really drill down into what we are doing in conjunction with how our brain works (neuroscience), how internal, organisational, and social politics control what we believe we can say, how hierarchical positioning impacts our honesty and how the lack of psychological safety means we say what we know others want to hear rather than what they need to hear…. It is oh so complicated! This workshop not only explores the concept of excellent communication, but we also want to hear what you believe it is too. We also delve into how organisational culture influences our perception of speaking up. Factors that hinder open and honest communication, and we work collaboratively towards removing these barriers to achieve a communication style that fosters trust and transparency, creating psychological safety. This workshop is particularly relevant to our Emotional Intelligence workshop (EI and Me). We firmly believe that developing emotional intelligence is the key to unlocking Clean Communication, a skill that is crucial for all of us, regardless of our roles and responsibilities, so that we thrive in our professional environment. If you want to see if we are correct, why not have us facilitate a workshop for you and see what you get by the end of it?  LENGTH - Normally, one day. But please contact us to discuss your specific needs, or we can offer advice. NEXT WORKSHOP START - Please ask for more information as we deliver bespoke closed events for your people at your location or a mutually suitable location. WORKSHOP DELIVERY - The best environment for this workshop is face-to-face, but we can facilitate this workshop online. Suitability - Who should attend? Who Should Attend and Why? Who? - Perhaps think of this another way… who shouldn’t attend to ensure we can attain Clean Communication? There’s your answer. Why? - Every person needs to understand what we are saying above about how we get trapped in this organisational formatting which changes how we communicate and how it prevents us from communicating cleanly. EVERY organisation has this, despite what our values profess. And 'Values', that’s a whole other story. Workshop Content Using the 'Moccasin Approach'® to clean our personal and organisational communication LaPD’s Communication Cycle and what we must consider. (Can you work out what the ? represent above? Accountability and Responsibility raises its head in Communication. It has to. Bias, unconscious bias and its impacts on our communication. The conundrum of communicating with others and their styles (The TRAP). How would my perfect Manager/Leader communicate with me? Nonverbal communication (body language), rapport, Clean Communication. Negative communication can go viral (Self-Fulfilling Prophecy). Reflections, findings and goals (individual and team). Meeting our workshop objectives by listing five areas for development. Workshop delivery and venue This workshop is usually one day in duration, and it focuses solely on how we communicate with each other. It can also be a two-day event incorporating aspects of Emotional Intelligence (EI) with group, and individual activities to allow discussions about the various communication we need in your organisation. When you consider the content we deliver, we are sure you will understand why we always prefer to deliver our workshops, courses and programmes face-to-face. Face-to-face workshops and courses can be held at a location of your choice or, if you wish, a central UK location, such as the Macdonald Burlington Hotel in Birmingham, located directly across from the Birmingham New Street train station. We can deliver our workshops, courses and programmes online, although this will mean splitting elements into manageable learning events to suit the online environment.

Hair care tips for every season

By Silk Pearl

Changing seasons impact our hair in unique ways, from winter dryness to summer humidity. By adjusting your hair care routine with each season, you can keep your hair healthy, strong, and vibrant. Here’s a look at practical tips for maintaining beautiful hair all year round. Winter hair care tips In winter, cold air and indoor heating can strip moisture from hair, leaving it dry and prone to breakage. Protecting your hair from these harsh conditions is essential. Moisturize regularly Dry winter air can make hair feel rough and brittle. Use a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner to keep your hair hydrated, and consider using a leave-in conditioner for extra protection. This helps seal in moisture, making hair less prone to frizz and breakage. Limit heat styling Winter weather already dries out hair, so limit heat styling tools like blow dryers and straighteners, which can further strip moisture. If you need to use them, apply a heat protectant spray to help reduce damage. Cover your hair Cold weather can make hair more vulnerable to damage. When outside, consider wearing a hat or scarf to shield your hair from the cold, dry air. Opt for a silk or satin-lined hat to avoid friction that can lead to frizz. Spring hair care tips Spring is a time of renewal, and as humidity levels increase, you may notice changes in your hair’s texture and manageability. Here’s how to keep your hair looking fresh. Exfoliate your scalp Over winter, dead skin and product buildup can accumulate on the scalp. Use a gentle scalp scrub or exfoliating shampoo to refresh your scalp. This helps improve hair growth and keeps your scalp healthy. Adjust your conditioner As temperatures rise, you may not need as heavy a conditioner. Switching to a lighter conditioner can prevent hair from feeling weighed down, giving you more volume and bounce. Embrace natural styles Spring’s humidity can make it difficult to keep styles smooth and sleek. Embrace natural textures and styles that work with the humidity instead of fighting it. This helps reduce the need for heat styling, keeping your hair healthier. Summer hair care tips In summer, sun exposure and chlorine from swimming pools can damage hair, making it dry and prone to breakage. Protecting your hair from these elements is key to maintaining its health. Use UV protection The sun’s UV rays can weaken hair, making it more likely to break. Look for hair products that offer UV protection to shield your strands from sun damage. Wearing a hat also provides good protection and keeps your scalp safe from sunburn. Rinse after swimming If you swim in pools or the ocean, chlorine and salt can leave hair feeling dry and brittle. Rinse your hair with fresh water after swimming to remove these drying elements, and consider applying a leave-in conditioner afterward for extra moisture. Deep conditioning Summer heat can strip moisture from hair, making it look dull and feel rough. Use a deep conditioning treatment once a week to restore moisture and keep your hair soft and shiny. Consider a Mulberry silk pillowcase Summer heat can make hair more prone to frizz, especially when sleeping on traditional pillowcases. Switching to a Mulberry silk pillowcase can help reduce friction, prevent hair breakage, and keep hair smoother, especially in humid conditions. Silk pillowcases are gentle on hair and help keep it manageable throughout the summer months. Fall hair care tips Fall brings cooler temperatures and lower humidity, making hair feel dry. Preparing your hair for the cooler season helps prevent issues like split ends and dryness. Trim split ends After summer, hair may be damaged from sun exposure, chlorine, and saltwater. Trimming split ends at the start of fall helps keep your hair looking healthy and prevents further breakage as the air gets drier. Rehydrate your hair With cooler air, your hair may start to lose moisture again. Switch back to a more hydrating shampoo and conditioner, and consider using a hair mask once a week to lock in moisture. Avoid over-washing In fall, as temperatures drop, hair does not get as oily. Avoid over-washing your hair, as it can strip away natural oils that help protect it. Washing your hair two to three times a week is usually enough to keep it clean without causing dryness. Protect from static Cooler weather often brings static electricity, which can make hair frizzy and hard to manage. Using a leave-in conditioner or a few drops of hair oil can help reduce static, leaving hair smooth and manageable. Final thoughts Taking care of your hair throughout the year requires small adjustments to your routine to match the season. Following these tips, and using silk products, you can protect your hair from the elements, maintain its health, and enjoy beautiful hair every season. Incorporating products like a Mulberry silk pillowcase can also add extra benefits by reducing frizz and protecting your hair while you sleep. With these simple steps, you’ll keep your hair looking its best, no matter the time of year.
