This course is aimed at candidates that require the knowledge and practical skills to operate mobile elevating work platforms (scissor lifts) safely and efficiently while carrying out work at heights.
Course Content
Candidates will be able to:
Understanding the industry, the dangers of working in the industry and their responsibilities as a plant operator
Understand the manufacturer’s handbook for the particular machine to be used, and be familiar with other types of information sources and relevant legislation
Locate and identify the major components of the machine and explain their functions
Locate and identify steering, driving and braking controls and explain their functions
Conduct all pre-operational checks in accordance with manufacturer’s and legislative requirements
Check all emergency lowering functions
Safely mount and dismount the machine
Configure the machine for travel
Configure the machine for travel and manoeuvre it safely on level ground and inclines in open and confined areas
Conduct all necessary safety checks at the work area, including overhead and underground hazards
Manoeuvre the machine to the work area and correctly configure in readiness to carry out accessing tasks
Carry out accessing tasks, at various points up to full operating height
Travel with platform raised (where applicable)
Use platform extension section
Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of loading and unloading procedures for machine transportation
Carry out all end of shift and shut down procedures
Entry Requirements
NPORS CSCS – Candidates must have achieved the relevant CITB Health, Safety & Environment (HS&E) touch-screen-test within 2 years.
Good understanding of spoken and written English.
Duration
Novice course- 5 days depending on experience
Experienced worker tests- 1 day theory and practical assessment

Overview 
 	This course is aimed at candidates that require the knowledge and practical skills to ensure a safe system of work in accordance with the method statement. It will enable the candidate to carry out their duties while complying with the relevant legislation and standards, including LOLER 1998 and BS 7121.
Who Should Attend?
 	This course is designed for personnel who supervise the lift and follow lift plans for routine and non-routine lifts.
Requirements:
Experienced operators should have sufficient experience of cranes to meet the requirements specified in British standard 7121 Safe Use of Cranes.

How do I attend?

CLASSROOM OPTION - Attend one of our scheduled classroom locations, completing your Introduction to Phlebotomy Course over 2 days. You will also complete your Advanced Training at the end of the first day and your Competency Training at the end of the second day.

Our Introduction to Phlebotomy and Advanced Phlebotomy Training Kits are supplied at no charge when booking our virtual classroom training option.
If you would like to add one or both of these kits to your classroom training option then these are available to add at time of booking. Our comprehensive training kits each mirror the same equipment and supplies used in the classroom and both include detailed video tutorials, allowing you to continue to practice and "hone" your skills after you have completed your practical training.

VIRTUAL CLASSROOM OPTION- Complete your theory training online at home or work, then join us for a one day Zoom session to complete your Introduction to Phlebotomy virtual classroom training, followed by your Advanced Training in the evening of the same day. What is the AM2 assessment? The AM2 assessment is an industry recognised trade test designed to evidence that candidates have gained all relevant and safety-critical competencies during their training process. It provides a single standard that has been agreed upon by employers within the electrical industry, giving a reliable and trusted guarantee of safe, high-quality skills for the electrotechnical industry. Who is this for? This is aimed at apprentices who are coming to the end of their training for the JIB apprentice training scheme and the Installation of modern apprenticeships. This course is also for experienced electricians, specifically those who are looking at taking the experienced worker route (AM2E.) There are a range of assessments for candidates based on their level: AM2 – This is for candidates undertaking the JIB mature candidate assessments and those following the level three NVQ who isn’t an apprentice. AM2S – This is for electrotechnical apprentices who are training against the apprenticeship standard AM2E – This is for experienced workers who are completing the experienced worker assessment. Please note: this can only be taken once you have gained the experienced worker qualification, proof must be provided before booking the AM2 assessment. What does this assessment consist of? Overall, the AM2 is an in-depth assessment carrying out tasks to show what you have learnt on your training. It is a practical assessment with five sections (six for AM2E and AM2S) and a short online component. Candidates will be expected to install, connect, terminate, inspect, test, commission and diagnose faults, following installation specifications provided and any relevant statutory and non-statutory regulations on: A three-phase distribution board and subcircuit A central heating/sustainable energy system Lighting and power circuits A data cabling system A safety services circuit and device Installation of containment systems (AM2E and AM2S only) Candidates will complete timed tasks in equipped areas that contain typical electrical installation wiring systems – all work must comply with BS7671 Wiring Regulations, industry best practice, and meet the requirements of relevant health and safety legislation. The assessment will be carried out in strict exam conditions across 2.5 days. Do I need an AM2 certificate to work as an electrician? Apprentices must pass their AM2 test in their final year to complete their apprenticeship. Also, if the apprenticeship standard is not being followed, an AM2 certificate and a level three NVQ is required to gain a gold card. If you are already working as an electrician, you will not need an AM2 certificate. If you are training to be an electrician and are registering for your NVQ level three in Electrical Installation or Maintenance, the electrotechnical diploma now includes the AM2. The AM2 certification is an industry recognised and something that many employers will actively seek when hiring new staff. It can also be attractive to potential customers.

Emily MacDonald joined 42 management and production company in 2019, working with Eugenie Furniss across her clients. She is now an agent in the Books Department, and is building her own list.

Send Emily a story with characters that just won't leave her and a narrative that pulls her in, keeping her immersed in the world well after she has finished reading. She reads across a wide-range and has a particular interest in: book club, high-concept crime/thriller, upmarket and literary fiction. 

In fiction, Emily would love to find a crime/thriller set within a subcult: a modern retelling of British folklore (think Kamila Shamsie’s Home Fire); an unconventional love story; and a character led journey of self-discovery (especially one set within a diasporic community). 

Emily is also looking for narrative non-fiction which immerses the reader into an untold true story (personal or historical), exploring a new point of view, and providing a compelling social commentary, with an investigative twist. Think the obsessive vein of Kirk W. Johnson or personal/political dispatches of Aidan Hartley. Emily wants her horizons to expand while she reads.

In both fiction and non-fiction, Emily loves stories woven into their surroundings, where the setting is as central a character as those who drive the narrative.

In both spheres, she is keen to hear from Scottish and regional voices with stories to tell.
