Introduction
In his popular book Emotional Intelligence: Why It Can Matter More Than IQ, Psychologist Daniel Goleman brought the idea of EI to the masses. Goleman based his ideas on emerging work in neuroscience that shows that the emotional centres of the brain are involved in everything we think and do and are enormously important in our daily life.
Emotional Intelligence (EI) is the ability to observe, distinguish, control and appraise our emotions. The aim is to use our awareness of EI to manage our behaviour and relationships. This two‐day course will help you develop and enhance your EI and communication skills. It will focus on practical skills development that will greatly benefit all who atiend.
Trainer
Tony Buon is a psychologist, educator and author. Tony holds graduate and postgraduate degrees in psychology, behavioural sciences and workplace education. He is also an accredited mediator.
He specializes in workplace psychology, leadership and communication. Tony has lectured at leading universities in the UK and Australia. Among the subjects he has taught are psychology, leadership, HRM, education and criminology. He also taught on an accredited MBA programme for Robert Gordon University..
Tony was born in Scotland and spent many years living in Australia. Today he lives in London, England. He has worked in more than 35 countries and with many of the world’s leading organizations. His work has been featured in publications as diverse as Rolling Stone and the Reader’s Digest. He has appeared on CNN, the BBC, Trans‐World Sport and many international television and radio stations.
The Course & EI
Emotional Intelligence (EI) has been widely promoted in the press, trade journals and scientific literature. Most people have heard the claims by writers such as Daniel Goleman, who stated ‘it matters twice as much as IQ’ (Goleman, 1998) or that EI and good communication skills are ‘positively related’ (Erigüç & Köse, 2013). A meta‐analysis, also published in 2010, found a positive and significant correlation with job performance (O’Boyle et al, 2010).
It has also been strongly argued that EI can improve sales, communication and improve leadership and work‐performance (Pratt et al, 2003).
EI is about being aware of emotions in yourself and others, and being able to manage those emotions.
This course will cover topics such as; Understanding your personality style, giving feedback to others, dealng with ‘difficult’ people, removing the barriers to communication, cross‐cultural communication and the science of body‐language.

Demonstration of the IR vein detector for assisting in detection of difficult veins.

Point of Care Testing - use of glucose meter to demonstrate a typical POC test procedure. Correct use and overview of other POC test devices.
7 - Using lancets (finger collection)
We look at the correct use of lancets for POC testing and whole blood micro-collection.

Advanced Phlebotomy - Skills & Techniques (GPT005)

This official BRCGS course enables participants with an in-depth understanding of the Standard in terms of the protocol, requirements and how to audit effectively. Participants will gain competency to assess compliance to the requirements of the Standard, including fundamental clauses, statements of intent, how to undertake a BRCGS audit, planning of the audit and reporting of the audit. Course Summary

This official BRCGS Food Safety issue 9 Lead Auditor course enables participants with an in-depth understanding of the Standard in terms of the protocol, requirements and how to audit effectively. Megan Carroll is looking for writers in a variety of areas, and from a wide range of backgrounds – she is particularly keen to hear from Black, Asian, and LGBTQIA+ writers. Her main areas of focus this year are adult fiction and non-fiction, as well as non-fiction for 7+, and MG and YA fiction.

In Fiction, Megan is keen to see high-concept love stories (think The Flat Share or The Lock In) for both commercial and reading group readers. She’d love to see those familiar romance tropes – enemies to lovers, friends to lovers, love triangles, forbidden love etc. – with underrepresented characters at the centre.

She is also looking for historical fiction and gothic horror (think Laura Purcell, Stacey Halls and Silvia Moreno-Garcia) – anything that has a creepy, uneasy undertone is likely for Megan’s list.
