The Primo School of Music was founded in 2012 by Tim Riley. At the outset, Tim conducted all the piano lessons himself and has gradually evolved a system of group teaching that combines some of the best practice from ‘one to one’ piano teaching combined with more progressive group teaching techniques. In addition, with more than twenty five years of experience as a composer and arranger he is continually writing new pieces and special arrangements of traditional melodies and classical tunes for our teaching partners to use exclusively in our piano lessons. With these strong foundations in place, Tim is currently working with a very few experienced piano teachers who share his passion for group piano teaching. All teachers (who are already experienced piano teachers) working with Primo Piano receive full initial training, ongoing training and mentoring to ensure the highest standards. Tim, a father of three, has this to say about Primo Piano and his plans for the future: “Developing and growing Primo Piano is the culmination of everything I’ve learned to date. It is an investment in the future – not just for myself but also for the community I live in. Seeing children develop as musicians and people gives me huge satisfaction and is so much more than a job – it is a vocation.”
