A ½ day short City and Guilds 2393-10 course aimed at anyone involved in electrical installations in dwellings. The Government approved Document P (electrical safety) came into effect on the 1st January 2005. For the first time the mainstream work of domestic electrical installers became subject to the requirements and procedures associated with Building Control. Domestic Electrical installers need to appreciate the requirements that apply to building work they carry out in connection with their electrical work, and they need to understand the way that Building Control works and the procedures that need to be followed. This short City and Guilds 2393-10 course is to enable those involved in the installation of electrical systems within the domestic environment to gain an understanding of how electrical installations in dwellings must comply with all relevant Building Regulations and how electrical installations in dwellings can affect the building construction. Demonstration of the IR vein detector for assisting in detection of difficult veins.
5 - Veins in back of hand:
Detecting suitable veins in the back of the hand.
6 - POC testing:
Point of Care Testing - use of glucose meter to demonstrate a typical POC test procedure. Correct use and overview of other POC test devices.
7 - Using lancets (finger collection)
We look at the correct use of lancets for POC testing and whole blood micro-collection.
8 - Using lancets (heel collection)
We look at the correct use of lancets for neonatal blood spot tests (Guthrie Test).
9 - Capillary collection
Using glass capillary tubes for micro-collection. Correct use and handling.
10 - Microtube collection

How do I attend?

EITHER -
CLASSROOM OPTION - Attend one of our scheduled classroom locations, completing your Introduction to Phlebotomy Course over 2 days. You will also complete your Advanced Training at the end of the first day and your Competency Training at the end of the second day.

Our Introduction to Phlebotomy and Advanced Phlebotomy Training Kits are supplied at no charge when booking our virtual classroom training option.
If you would like to add one or both of these kits to your classroom training option then these are available to add at time of booking. Our comprehensive training kits each mirror the same equipment and supplies used in the classroom and both include detailed video tutorials, allowing you to continue to practice and "hone" your skills after you have completed your practical training.

VIRTUAL CLASSROOM OPTION- Complete your theory training online at home or work, then join us for a one day Zoom session to complete your Introduction to Phlebotomy virtual classroom training, followed by your Advanced Training in the evening of the same day. Completion of Introduction to Phlebotomy Course or working experience in phlebotomy is recommended but not essential

Complete our Advanced Phlebotomy & Cannulation on your computer or tablet (at home or work) and in your own time. The course can be completed in stages - you have 8 weeks to complete the course in full.
 
The nationally recognised and accredited certificate (awarded by the Open College Network) can be added to your existing certificate credit value (cumulative credits), and these may also count towards other similar college or university courses.
 
This course is suitable for you if:


You currently work (or have recently worked) as a phlebotomist and wish to add an expand on your knowledge of this subject with a valuable additional qualification, or,
You have completed our Introduction to Phlebotomy Course or have completed a similar course from an approved supplier and wish to update and renew your accreditation, or,
You seek CPD (continual professional development) or requested by your employer as part of your CPD or Induction Programme.

Equipment preparation for blood samples that are collected at 0
degrees, 37 degrees C and other non-standard conditions.

M04: Point of Care Testing:
What is POC Testing? Advantages, Disadvantages and Clinical
Outcomes. Comparison of POC with lab testing. 10 common POC
tests. Roles for phlebotomists performing POC Tests.
 
M05 Neonates and Children:
Sample collection from newborn to pre-adult. A detailed overview of
legal principles of law including child consent and child protection for
phlebotomists. Neonatal and child blood collection equipment.
A comprehensive look at heel and finger-prick procedurs.
 
M06: Geriatric Patients:
The challenges of phlebotomy in older people. Understanding skin
changes and venepuncture implications. A profile of common geriatric

This Pipework and Brazing certification course is designed to ensure that personnel are practised in the use of special tools and equipment used to install or repair copper pipework in small commercial and split unit air-conditioning systems. The Pipework and Brazing course also covers the requirements of the Environmental Protection Act regarding the construction/repair of refrigeration pipework and the high pressure implications of new refrigerants. The Pipework and Brazing course ensures approved standards are achieved. Pipework and Brazing course notes/record book are provided.
