Supporting low-income families to engage with museums: Afternoon Cuppa Session (Wales)    Monday 18 November, 2.30-3.30pm    Do you want to gain a better understanding of family audiences that are experiencing poverty?    About this training    This session will explore the barriers faced by families experiencing poverty and help attendees to think about how to support this group in their venues.    We will hear from Simon Page, Education Project Manager (Wales) at Child Poverty Action Group about the impact of poverty for families in Wales. Simon will be joined by Sara Fortune, Museum Manager at Preston Park Museum and Grounds, who will share some of their learning from the Poverty Proofing© process at Tees Valley Museums.    The session will help delegates to:  deepen your understanding of poverty in Wales, gain insight into how poverty can impact a family’s chances of engaging with cultural venues, think about how considerations around poverty can impact on the experiences you provide for families in your museum.   Take a look at the full schedule.    This training will be delivered virtually on Zoom over one hour.    The session will be delivered in English with bilingual slides, with an option to provide a Welsh language interpreter.     Run in partnership with the Welsh Museums Federation and generously supported by the Welsh Government    Who should attend?  This training is aimed at staff and volunteers who work in museums, galleries and heritage sites who are interested in developing and enriching their current offer with a better understanding of audiences experiencing poverty.
