The NSN is a company limited by guarantee which is owned by its members on behalf of the nine provider networks spread across the north of England. The company’s primary purpose is to promote & represent the interests of its member networks. In addition, the company aims to ultimately be a single voice for skills across the North of England. The Northern Skills Network Ltd (NSN) is a not-for-profit organisation and Its aim is to represent training and education providers from all persuasions across the north of England and promote the value of vocational and technical education, especially apprenticeships, to employers and other important stakeholders. Its members consist the nine providers networks across the north including: North East, Tees Valley, Cumbria, Lancashire, Greater Manchester, Greater Merseyside, West Yorkshire, Sheffield City Region and Cheshire and Warrington. In all NSN represents over 300 providers, ranging from FE Colleges, Independent training Providers, Universities, Local Authorities and 3rd sector charitable organisations. As the name implies, NSN is both aligned to and supports the Northern Powerhouse agenda and is passionate, through its members, to play its part in increasing the productivity and prosperity of the north through increasing the skill levels of both young people entering work for the first time and existing employees within the workforce.

The Research Ethics Association (REA) The Research Ethics Association (REA) brings together academia, industry and local organisations across all disciplines with the aim of opening up and applying cross-discipline research ethics, contributing to ethical practice and research. REA is led by a team of people across the South West of England and Wales consisting of academics, doctoral researchers, professional services and local and national organisations. Originally established as a conference, the REA was founded in 2020 by a team of volunteer academics from the South-West and Wales. The initiative was born out of the need to institutionalise an interdisciplinary response to ethical practice, beyond micro responses in the form of university committees and industry protocols. The REC2021 conference, which took place Online, was a massive success hosting over 400 attendees from across 53 countries worldwide. The interest academic, industry workers and government organisations showed in taking part in this conversation heightened us on the urgency of continuing this project on a biannual basis, establishing ourselves as an association (processes still in place). We want to encourage academics, industry staff and government employees to be part of the conversation, innovating, exploring and breaking down boundaries that surround and stiffen our perception of ethics, ethical research, and ethical practice.

We’re also business leaders, heads of our respective companies and fervent believers in a greened future for our world! We’ve come a long way since first arriving in London all those years ago, and the journey was well worth it! We’ve learned a lot – both about ourselves and about the importance of leading a healthy lifestyle. Being the head of a London cleaning company means learning the ins and outs of the entire cleaning process – research the methodologies and looking into the various cleaning solutions, used within the field. Reading up on the dangerous side-effects of most detergents sparked Antoaneta’s interest and she began researching different approaches to commercial cleaning. There simply had to be a way to get good results without putting the employees or clients in danger of chemical exposure. Eventually, one thing led to another, and she realized she was no longer interested in the subject merely from a professional standpoint. It was no longer just about efficiency and work ethics. She had discovered her passion. She began looking for ways to not only stay safe but also protect the environment and those close to her.
