Emergency First Aid at Work delivered by healthcare professionals - Educating through Experience

Three Hour Course Cost:  £50 + vat per person Catastrophic Bleeding is an excellent course designed for First Aiders who are involved in high-risk working environments. This 3-hour course will provide learners with guidance on Catastrophic Bleeding control, including dealing with the inherent dangers associated with the use of tourniquets and haemostatic dressings whilst administering First Aid in a high-risk working environment. Learners must hold a valid First Aid at Work or Emergency First Aid at Work Certificate in order to attend the course. SYLLABUS A range of subjects is covered including:   Equipment Primary survey Catastrophic bleeding Haemostatic dressings Tourniquets Top-to-toe survey Environmental issues Handover to the emergency services Maximum of 16 People A maximum of 16 students can be accommodated on this course. Age limit learners must be a minimum of 16 years of age to attend the course. CERTIFICATION Although there is no formal assessment, the trainer will assess each individual throughout the course and issue a non-regulated Certificate of Achievement where the required level of attainment has been met. Course Overview Through completion of this qualification, learners will develop an awareness of mental health and be able to signpost others to mainstream medical or alternative support organisations. The purpose of this qualification is to develop learners' understanding of mental health, mental ill health and the risks associated with mental health conditions. Learners will also learn about sources of support available to individuals with mental health conditions. Endorsed by the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA), this qualification can be used towards members' annual Continuous Professional Development (CPD) requirements. Entry Requirments Learners should be aged 16 plus No formal prerequisites, however it is recommended that learners hold YMCA Awards Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing or equivalent. Progression Routes This qualification doesn't provide automatic progression onto another YMCA Awards qualification, however it may provide progression opportunities on to qualifications related to careers in mental health, health and social care, counselling or psychology. Learners taking this qualification may also consider further training at the same and higher levels in a range of qualifications. This qualification is for people who have a specific interest or responsibility at work, or in voluntary and community activities, in being able to provide BLS when dealing with an emergency situation which may involve using an AED. Pre-requisites Students must be at least 16 years old on the first day of training. Assessment and Certifications Assessment for this course is continuous. Successful students will receive an Immerse Training Certificate, which is valid for one year. This certificate will be issued by Qualsafe, the awarding body for Immerse Training. Additional Information Completion of the Level 2 Award in Basic Life Support and Safe Use of an Automated External Defibrillator includes 1 credit at Level 2 of the Qualification Credit Framework (QCF). The Level 2 Award in Basic Life Support and Safe Use of an automated External Defibrillator is also recommended as an annual refresher for student who have successfully completed the QA Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (QCF).
