THEN Born out of a great social awakening surrounding anti-Black racism and structural oppression, BLACK MENTAL HEALTH MATTERS (a.k.a. BLACK MH MATTERS CANADA INC.) was established in 2020 by social workers/psychotherapists, Yemi Faderin and Susan Bascillo. Individuals across the Greater Toronto Area immediately acted and donated hundreds of thousands to support low-cost therapy for Black Canadians who could otherwise not afford it. NOW Donations helped us create programs that end stigma surrounding Black mental health, provide more low-cost therapy for those Black Canadians most in need of healing due to racial trauma, and conduct workshops that educate broader communities on the realities of anti-Black racism. NEXT We continue to be inspired. As an official non-profit, we will - work to improve outcomes for Black Canadians experiencing trauma from institutionalized violence, systemic racism and police brutality. - equip Black clients, organizations and broader communities with the tools to identify the consequences of systemic racism and promote safer and more compassionate spaces. - address a range of social barriers (e.g. Education-level, under-employment, housing insecurity etc.) which may lead to poorer mental health outcomes and negatively impact one’s well-being.

Empower Skills Services were created with the premise that every person regardless their background, age and race have the right to education that improves their well being and enhances prospects for desired employment. With this in mind, we have created a holistic approach that combines mentoring with educational and employability programmes which equip individuals with tools necessary to define their goals, find their desired career path and deal effectively with challenges in a professional and private life alike. All our bespoke training methods are based on a personal development model – GROW – established to build up confidence, resistance and strength that create positive outcomes for both individuals and for the community they belong to. GROW (Goal, Reality, Options, Way forward) is a simple yet highly effective teaching framework that serves as a scaffold for students/clients to help them establish their goals and explore the steps they need to take towards the meaningful change that will move their life forward. GROW is embedded in all our programmes that are delivered by a group of dedicated tutors and mentors who help individuals to progress with their goals and dreams.

Student Light Mission With 10.5% of students in the UK not making it to the end of their degrees and 78% of students in the UK saying they've experienced mental health issues, something has to be done to increase retention rates and tackle the increasing levels of poor mental health within higher education institutions. Through extensive research, we've identified many of the common causes of students leaving university and experiencing mental health issues. With the direct support of university students and services, we've come up with many solutions to try and tackle these problems. This business hopes to act as a tool and resource for personal development, social and community development and most importantly a support tool for students. Secondly, networking, sharing data & research, sharing ideas and collaborating across different universities and Students’ Unions is difficult and an issue well overdue to be improved; especially when it comes to doing large scale data collection for research that's is key to effective campaigns and connecting common student groups/communities. This platform hopes to bridge that gap between institutions and empower students groups and leaders to achieve so much more, both academically, socially and politically.

Loughton Music Academy (LMA) is a private school specialising in Music education in a variety of music styles and have been delivering bespoke and curriculum based music tuition since 2005. The school currently facilitates tuition for 550 students per term and also offers tuition in Languages & Art workshops. Most of our classes are after school hours, evenings and weekends at times that don’t conflict with academic school studies or regular working hours. However, we also have a growing community of adult learners during weekday times. All major music examination boards containing NQF and EQF credits are taught including ABRSM, IPVAEB, Orange learn, Trinity, LCM, Peembeck, IPMA, Rsl (formerly rockschool), RGT and new for 2021 the LMA’s own newly accredited Piano exams. The Five Minute Literacy Box and The Five Minute Number Box have been opened by children of all ages since 2003. Since then, the activities and materials have been updated as necessary with best practice dyslexia teaching. When Jane Kendall (BA, Dip RSA SpLD) founded Five Minute Box she realised the effects that early failure has on self esteem and the impact that anxiety has on working relationships in families and peer groups. Jane worked as a Primary School class teacher, Inclusion manager and trainer of Teaching Assistants in the UK. With her training and experience in Specific Learning Difficulties, she observed that many children in each class were struggling with English and Maths early in their education. She found that using structured multisensory programmes of specific games for just a few minutes each day helped children overcome their difficulties while learning strategies to help themselves. Five Minute Boxes are now used by children all over the world. Early use of Five Minute Box interventions helps identify children with potential specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia or dyscalculia. The activities adapt to each child’s differences. Children love taking ownership over their learning using the Boxes. They learn organisational and sequencing skills and help to choose their session goals. Children experience success, which motivates them further.

Glena Art Studio opens in London on the 1st of November, 2022, following seven years old history of the Glena Art Studio project for art education, workshops, and creative events across the UK, Bulgaria, and internationally via online tutoring. The leader and teacher of the studio is Galina Hristova, a practising artist and educator, with BA and MA in Set and Costume design and MFA in Fine Arts. Her professional training started at the widely acclaimed National school of Fine Arts ‘Tzanko Lavrenov’, Plovdiv, Bulgaria, and ended with the MFA Course at Wimbledon College of Arts, UAL, London, UK. Trained in the academic tradition of painting and drawing, Galina now works multidisciplinary with main focus on Painting and Performance art.
