Back pain is one of the most common conditions that people live with in the UK today. The vast majority of us are likely to be affected by back pain at some point in our lives. For most it will be a short lived experience but for others back pain is ongoing and affects quality of life, making ordinary daily tasks difficult or at worst simply impossible to perform. Chronic back pain can result in depression, low self esteem, unemployment, the breakdown of relationships and more. Here at BackCare we provide information and education to prevent unnecessary back pain from occurring in the first place. However, whilst prevention is better than cure, we also understand that not all back pain is avoidable. A large part of our work at BackCare is to provide practical and emotional support to people living with back pain whether caused through wear and tear, injury, musculoskeletal disorders such as Scoliosis, Spina Bifida, Arthritis and Axial SpA or other serious underlying health conditions like Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s Disease, or Cancer, for example. BackCare was the brainchild of businessman and philanthropist, Stanley Grundy who in 1968, set about creating a charity dedicated to those living with back pain, regardless of cause and educating the public in ways of preventing back pain. Today, some 50 years on, we remain resolute in our efforts to significantly reduce the burden of back and neck pain by working together with people and organisations and those affected by such pain and providing information, guidance and advice to all. We are proud to have HRH The Prince of Wales as our Patron.

We do this three ways: We offer 1-1 and group arts therapies for children and young people We offer training and supervision to professionals We offer workshops and support to parents and carers. NESSie provides easy access to arts therapies, counselling, support and training so that children, young people and their families can thrive. We provide support through partnering with local schools, county councils and community organisations within Hertfordshire and the surrounding counties. Parents can also reach out to us directly. Together our therapists have over 200 years of experience. We welcome diversity and have specialist trauma, ASC and LGBTQ+ therapists within our team. Welcome to our website; we hope that you find it useful. Redborne is a very successful, oversubscribed Upper School of over 1,600 students, 450 of whom are in the Sixth Form. Over 80% of our Sixth Form go onto university and 14 have gone to Oxbridge in the last 3 years. We have been designated a National Support School by the Department of Education. We were graded "good" in our Ofsted inspection in November 2017, with many positive comments being made by the inspection team. Carine Robin has a Master’s Degree in Psychology, specialising in child psychology. She worked for various social services in her home country of Belgium, before moving to Ireland in 2006. It was there that she started working in a nursery and discovered Montessori education. After having her first child, her passion for the philosophy grew and she qualified as a Montessori teacher and managed a preschool. Carine has been running a Montessori based parents and toddler group and coaching families for 9 years. She now also runs an online group for over 14000 parents, sharing her knowledge and passion with people from around the world. In 2018, Carine realised families needed more support and launched her popular online parenting courses and monthly subscription boxes, full of personally designed Montessori materials. Carine has also trained with Sarah Ockwell-Smith in BabyCalm and Toddler Calm, with Dr Laura Markham on Peaceful Parenting and most recently, at the prestigious Maria Montessori school in London, as an AMI Elementary and 0-3 assistant: Carine is also fully trained in child protection, has an up to date paediatric first aid qualification and is fully DBS cleared (CRB).

THEN Born out of a great social awakening surrounding anti-Black racism and structural oppression, BLACK MENTAL HEALTH MATTERS (a.k.a. BLACK MH MATTERS CANADA INC.) was established in 2020 by social workers/psychotherapists, Yemi Faderin and Susan Bascillo. Individuals across the Greater Toronto Area immediately acted and donated hundreds of thousands to support low-cost therapy for Black Canadians who could otherwise not afford it. NOW Donations helped us create programs that end stigma surrounding Black mental health, provide more low-cost therapy for those Black Canadians most in need of healing due to racial trauma, and conduct workshops that educate broader communities on the realities of anti-Black racism. NEXT We continue to be inspired. As an official non-profit, we will - work to improve outcomes for Black Canadians experiencing trauma from institutionalized violence, systemic racism and police brutality. - equip Black clients, organizations and broader communities with the tools to identify the consequences of systemic racism and promote safer and more compassionate spaces. - address a range of social barriers (e.g. Education-level, under-employment, housing insecurity etc.) which may lead to poorer mental health outcomes and negatively impact one’s well-being.
