Our international team of writers, translators, editors and artists, are led by Snowflake’s creative Director, founder and book designer, Su Yen Hu. At Snowflake Books we make beautiful picture-story books for children, based on well-loved Eastern legends. The characters in these delightful stories have a mixture of good and bad in their lives, but their good qualities always shine through in the end. Hi I'm Lisa and I live in the middle of the Test Valley in Hampshire, with my husband, two children, my dog Inca and cat Ebury. After having my son George in 2015 and moving from a city to a village, I decided to put my career in the corporate world on hold and spend time at home being a mummy. This life style change enabled me to explore my creative side. I loved living in a village and joined one of the local village WI groups and their craft club. I also took a number of workshops including blind making and cake decorating. However my love of jewellery, magpie tendencies and previous experience with bead work, soon lead me to the magic of Silver Clay. Once I found Silver Clay I was hooked! My ability and design ideas soon had my teacher suggesting I start a small business. This is how Country Designs by Lisa was born in 2017. All my work is inspired by the country side and nature around me. I love nothing more than going foraging on a dog walk or when out and about with my children and often come back with pockets filled with more items collected on walks than my children! . I love to learn and am continuing to update my skills and over the last few years I have added traditional silversmith techniques to my work. I have also passed my Level 1 and Level 2 Art Clay certificates and i'm currently working towards my Level 3. Gaining Level 1 & 2 enables me to teach under the Art Clay banner, this was very important for me to pass before I started to teach as it gives me the knowledge and skills to teach my students correctly. Most of my range, except some smaller items, are fully hallmarked by the London Assay Office. This is a 700 year old tradition that gives buyers the assurance they are buying a quality item which has been fully tested by the Assay Office. High Grange is a family-run business in the rolling hills of East Devon, run by Sara and husband Luke, a chef and wine merchant with over 20 years experience of cooking and teaching. Luke and Sara met on an internet date in 2010 and shared a lost Sunday afternoon in a dodgy bar called B @ 1 in Clapham Junction. Then we had three children, took in a sociopathic cat and a dog of supreme dim-wittedness. We all live in rural East Devon at High Grange, not far from the stunning Jurassic coast and Lyme Regis. We have a large outdoor cookery school with fire pits, pizza oven, Ofyr, and every type of Big Green Egg. We offer Full and Half Day Fire Schools where you can learn the full gamit of British outdoor cooking. We also have an indoor and outdoor woodland dining area for supper clubs and lunches, serviced by our chickens and vegetable patch. We can offer private dining options on request. Finally, our Shippen outbuilding offers wellness events and classes from yoga, pilates and reiki to sound baths and breathwork; and we also offer creative masterclasses covering everything from dried flower arranging to growing your own vegetables.
