Working with schools and colleges to deliver a quality programme of careers education. Aspire-igen is contract lead for the study programmes within West Yorkshire and North East. Supporting 16-19 closer to work Aspire-International is the UK’s careers centre of excellence and is part of the Euroguidance network.

I am delighted to welcome you to Huddersfield New College. Whilst I was appointed as Principal in early 2022, I have been a proud member of the HNC community for a number of years. I am honoured to have been part of the College's journey so far and I am excited about our future. HNC is a high achieving, forward thinking institution with big ambitions, both for the students in our care and our role within the communities that we serve. For the last eight years we have worked closely with local authorities, the private sector and charities to support people into employment both by direct recruitment and working to upskill those wanting to progress into front line vacancies such as refuse collection, street sweeping, grounds maintenance staff, school caretakers and office cleaning. More recently we have been working across a range of sectors helping people gain employment in the hospitality sector, warehousing and production and office work. We do this in a number of ways but all of our support and the training we promote is free of charge to our customers and clients which creates a truly unique recruitment model. There is no training fee, no recruitment fee, no management fee, simply NO Fee! We want to work with organisations who wish to recruit new employees and upskill and recognise their employees and key workers through providing accredited qualifications to assist their personal development and future opportunities. To find suitable candidates, we work in local communities via a national network of organisations including Jobcentre Plus, work programmes and charities across England.

She taught me how to fix that relationship. As a side benefit, my confidence improved, my goals got bigger, I managed my time better, I stopped needing to control people, I found more joy in mothering, and more. The West Bowling Youth Initiative (WBYI) is a small charity and local voluntary sector organisation based in a multi-cultural area of Bradford. It was established in 1991 by local people to work with predominately young British Pakistani Muslim men, especially those who were at risk of offending. The initial project was supported by The Prince’s Trust and subsequently gained funding and backing from other charities, EU and government funding and ongoing support from the local authority. Over the last 25 years, WBYI has broadened its remit and has developed a strong reputation for successfully engaging hard to reach young people, including those excluded or struggling at school, ex-offenders and those in the criminal justice system and others facing a difficult transition to adulthood. WBYI currently works with a core age range of 13 to 25 year olds including, employment support programmes; alternative curriculum programmes for schools and crime prevention work through personal and social development projects. In addition, school holiday programmes and sports activities cater for local 7 to 13 year olds and increasingly there is a demand for volunteering and leisure activity.

The African Caribbean Achievement Project (ACAP) was set up in 1995 to promote and raise the educational development of people of African & Caribbean descent. We are an education-based charity that has fought for racial justice and equality in education since we started and continue to do so to this day. We are a volunteer-led service and provide mentoring, advocacy and educational support to young people. We also provide advocacy and support services to parents as well as a range of other activities Over the years the service has developed to include young people from all sections of the community and not just African and Caribbean young people. Our service is inclusive and we assist all young people to realise their full potential in all areas of their lives.
