Step & Praise Company has been built upon Christian beliefs and the desire to use the gift of performing arts as an encouragement and inspiration to others. Our aim is to promote a standard of excellence in dance training and performance for children, youth and adults whilst maintaining a positive and uplifting environment. We desire to see children of all ages participate in the performing arts without having to be exposed to inappropriate themes or language. We hold different styles of performing art classes throughout the year, with dance being the main area of our services. Located in Stratford Atherton Leisure Centre, Step & Praise have formed termly dance classes suitable for children between the ages of 3 – 11 years old. Separated into three age abilities; Tots, Beginners and Intermediates, these classes have been designed to help our students receive an in depth understanding about Street Dance, Hip Hop Dance, Afrobeat, Ballet and Contemporary Dance. Students training with us will get the opportunity to explore dance in a safe environment in addition to having opportunities to perform in theatres across London.

My name is Olwen Macleod. I’ve been a music teacher on the Scottish Island of North Uist in the outer Hebrides for 13 years. We have a reputation for music here. Mendlessohn wrote us a beautiful overture about our Fingal’s Cave, many musicians and composers live up here. The Scottish Islands are beautiful and inspiring places. Once a year the island ferry brings the Associated Board of the Royal School of Music to adjudicate those of our pupils taking piano exams. Encouraged by their good results the same pupils appear before the examiner a year later and a grade higher – and so it goes on... I have taught many a starter pupil how to find middle C on the piano and never lost the delight in seeing their faces when they give a good performance of a well learned piece. Some have climbed to the top of the ladder and beyond, studying music at University and making music a full time career for themselves. And such it is – my music pupils grow up and leave the island – and the lessons stop.

Dr Aseri has been working as a Consultant in Anaesthesia and Pain Medicine and Clinical Lead for Acute Pain Services at St Helens and Knowsley Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust since February 2016. He obtained a Certificate of Completion of Training [CCT] in Anaesthetics in August 2015 from Health Education North West. Dr Aseri has completed Advanced Pain Training (APT) at one of the well renowned tertiary pain centres, The Walton Centre for Neurology and Neurosurgery in Liverpool and obtained a Fellowship of the Faculty of Pain Medicine of the Royal College of Anaesthetists (FFPMRCA). Dr Aseri regularly participate in service development projects and clinical effectiveness meetings throughout his career. He recognises audit as a clinical governance tool that can change practice and improve clinical performance. Dr Aseri is a course director for a national study day “Joint Management of Joint Pain” which is approved by Royal College of Anaesthetists for CPD. Throughout my career I have been involved with undergraduate and postgraduate medical teaching both on a formal and an informal basis.

Juliana is one of the leading teachers and performers in the UK of Raqs Sharqi, the classical and folkloric dance styles of Egypt. She has a well-established teaching practice in London and holds regular workshops and residentials in the UK and abroad. Juliana originally trained with Suraya Hilal and co-managed the Hilal School of Raqs Sharqi until the mid-1990s. Alongside her studies of Raqs Sharqi Juliana took a 3 year degree course in Contemporary Dance, Performance Skills, Choreography and the Visual Arts at Middlesex University. She is now training to become a Feldenkrais practitioner. Since 1997 Juliana has been a key member of the Raqs Sharqi Society. Juliana Brustiks unique and creative teaching style is informed by her knowledge of a wide range of body disciplines, including contemporary dance, Feldenkrais, Contact improvisation, Pilates and theatrical voice and bodywork. She believes that developing students body awareness is an essential part of helping to master the dance form, and enables the individual to find their own authentic expression.
