Here at Ace Swim School we provide fun, friendly and high quality swimming lessons for babies and children. Lessons at Ace are taught by highly qualified, passionate and experienced STA instructors. Over the years we have helped many children take to the water with confidence and we would love to have your child join the fun too! We specialise in teaching children in small groups, a maximum of 4 children to one teacher, meaning you really do get the most out of your lessons! Children around the age of 4 years old can swim with just the instructors in the pool, however every child is different and so this can vary from child to child. Our aim at Ace is to ensure that each lesson is filled with fun, making it a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere for ALL swimming abilities and of course Safety is a paramount consideration in everything we do. Not only do we teach babies and children how to swim, we teach them vital life saving skills, water safety and water confidence. Our swimming lessons also teach vital life skills, taking it in turns, praising one another, determination and our lessons for all ages are great for socialising and meeting new friends! Children are grouped together according to ability . The children’s ability is routinely measured and rewarded with STA Certificates, badges and success trackers. We strive to get the best out of our swimmers by focusing on such important concepts as – Motivation, Enjoyment, Excitement, Progress, Praise, Positivity and Success.

My interest in psychology and mental health began 17 years ago. Following my Psychology degree I began working for the NHS and training at Doctoral level to become a Chartered Clinical Psychologist. My aim was to be be able to practically apply psychological theory and research to help people to achieve emotional wellbeing and enhance their quality of life. Since 2012 I have worked in a variety of NHS psychology services, offering talking therapy and emotional support to individuals, couples and families. Between 2014 and 2020 I specialised in supporting people with long-term physical health conditions, including cancer, diabetes, chronic pain, chronic fatigue syndrome/ME, Fibromyalgia and bowel conditions (e.g. IBS and IBD). Alongside my work with Heal.Feel.Connect. I now continue to work part-time for an NHS hospital in Gloucestershire, working with staff to reduce work-related stress and burnout, and promoting a culture of compassion and psychological safety within the organisation. After discovering a personal benefit to mindfulness meditation in 2014 I decided to pursue formal training in the delivery of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) courses. Employing these approaches with people in groups and during one-to-one therapy has further convinced me of the benefits of mindfulness for mental and physical health and I enjoy being able to share this wonderful and refreshing way of living with others. In 2021 I also completed training to be able to deliver Compassionate Mind Training (CMT) courses, which work to more deeply develop the self-compassion skills taught by mindfulness practise.

Through The Haven she works with clients to promote parental mental health, the prevention of parental compassion fatigue and support families through therapeutic parent coaching. In her 91st year Beth Chatto set up the Education Trust to develop educational opportunities through The Garden for everyone. The aim of the Trust is to inspire, educate, and to promote enjoyment and wellbeing for all through gardens and the outdoor environment. Established in 2015 Beth Chatto Education Trust has developed a varied annual programme of courses, workshops, projects and activities for adults, children and community groups. The programme consists of firm favourites that are retained each year and new courses that keep the programme current and interesting. There is something to suit everyone whether you are an experienced horticulturalist or a novice keen to try your hand at something new. We offer RHS Theory qualifications, practical gardening courses, one-day creative workshops, lectures, school visits, Forest school and children’s holiday garden activities. These can run for a morning, a day, termly or up to two years for the RHS qualifications. The Beth Chatto Education Trust aims to facilitate people to access the outdoors, enjoy learning in our gardens and connect with the environment to enhance wellbeing. Many of our courses are based in the Beth Chatto Gardens in our purpose-built education building, the 'Willow Room'. Bold ideas, big conversationsReform’s report, 'Academy chains unlocked', presents results from the first survey of academy chain chief executives. It recommends reform to the funding and oversight of chains to raise standards across the country. Since first introduced under Labour, academy schools have been the main way that governments have sought to raise the standard of schools. Their popularity with policymakers means that two fifths of state-educated children in England now attend an academy. While there are different forms of academies, all have greater responsibility over the curriculum, staffing and finances than other state-funded schools. Yet the evidence that academies have improved school education is not clear cut. Labour’s academies have almost certainly led to sustainable improvements in pupil outcomes. However, the Coalition Government’s academies have had variable impact, with some lowering, some sustaining and others improving education in those schools, depending on the starting point of the school. Taken in its entirety, the evidence suggests that the recent academies are not having the transformative impact on education that was expected by government. The Conservative Government has changed its approach to academies. It now expects all new academies to join or establish an academy chain – groups of two or more academies run by the same sponsor – believing that chains will help unleash the potential of academies to spread educational excellence across the country. Yet, as with individual academies, the evidence on academy chains shows variable impact on pupil attainment. There is a dearth of information explaining why, as no research has established a full enough picture of what academy chains do.
