PolyFoam XPS Limited

Hartlepool

Extruded polystyrene (XPS) insulation for flooring and flat roof applications Through its Floorboard and Roofboard ranges, Polyfoam XPS Ltd offers high quality, high performance, rigid, closed cell, extruded polystyrene (XPS) insulation for use in domestic, commercial and industrial buildings alike. XPS insulation is moisture tolerant, meaning it can be installed in damp or wet environments, and has a high compressive strength. These qualities make it the perfect choice for inverted flat roofs, below concrete floor slabs and to the outside of basement structures. Providing a flat, strong and dimensionally stable insulation layer, XPS is also a robust solution for conventional warm flat roofs, green and blue roofs, car park decks, floating floors above the ground floor slab, and swimming pool basins. It is compatible with underfloor heating systems at ground and intermediate floor level, can provide external wall insulation below the damp proof course in low-energy construction projects, and is suitable for use with a variety of building boards and materials to create thermal laminate products. Polyfoam XPS credentials Polyfoam XPS Ltd is a leading manufacturer of closed cell, extruded polystyrene insulation. The Polyfoam range is lightweight, strong, moisture resistant and easy to cut and shape, providing thermal performance and strength for the lifetime of the building. Manufactured in the UK using a blowing agent with low global warming potential (GWP) and zero ozone depletion potential (ODP), Polyfoam XPS products are free from CFCs and HCFCs. They have Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) and raw material procurement is certified to BES 6001 (Responsible Sourcing of Construction Products). The Polyfoam XPS factory in Hartlepool has been assessed as operating under an ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System, an ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System, an ISO 50001 Energy Management System, and an ISO 45001 Occupational Health & Safety Management System. Both the flooring and roofing systems benefit from BBA Agrément certification. Benefits of Polyfoam XPS insulation When you specify and install XPS insulation, you’re working with a material that is unique among widely-available thermal insulation materials for its tolerance of damp or wet environments. That means it can be installed external to below ground structures, and below ground floor slabs, with no detriment to the performance of the product over the life of the building. It offers the opportunity to enclose below-ground building fabric within the thermal envelope, reducing linear thermal bridging at junctions between construction elements, and achieving a greater level of building performance, comfort and energy efficiency. Thanks to its superior load-bearing performance, Polyfoam XPS insulation is a robust solution that will stand up to the demands of any construction site, delivering its intended thermal performance and contributing to a reduction in the performance gap once the building is finished and in use.

1 in 6 of us is experiencing a mental health challenge right now. We think humanity can do better. Modern life can at times leave every one of us stretched very thin or near breaking point. If you are anxious, depressed or stressed, we are here to help you change that. No one should have to do it alone — we know firsthand how very hard it is to help yourself. But if you’ve tried all the obvious things (like healthy diet, good sleep hygiene, journalling, therapy and exercise), real change might involve trying something you haven’t tried before. If the thought of that is exhausting, our founder Ryan’s story might just inspire you to start: Ryan Nell on stage at Wilderness Festival leading a mass meditation Ryan Nell Founder of Levitate. I spent the first half of my life trying to hide my anxiety from everyone. Although I was outwardly successful, with lots going for me, I was really unhappy and didn’t know why. I didn’t want my friends, family or colleagues to worry, but hiding it took huge energy. Inwardly, I was constantly exhausted because my mind would never stop running. Unsurprisingly, my twenties and thirties were beset by frequent crises, bad dreams and doomed relationships. Not talking to anyone about it, left me feeling really lonely and isolated. I was yearning to feel whole again. I tried many an escape — travelling, quitting jobs, changing partners, and probably drinking too much — but I learnt the hard way that running away only led to more anxiety, worry and struggle. Then, almost by chance, I found meditation. A friend told me about a retreat, and, though I was skeptical, I must have also been rather desperate, because I signed up and went. And over the course of one weekend, I fell in love with the practice. Back in London, and back at work, I found that the meditation apps were great but I couldn’t stick to them and I didn’t want to be on my phone. There always seemed to be something more important to do. But I found that practising in a room with a brilliant teacher and fellow students brought mindfulness to life. It’s not an exaggeration to say that meditating in a group transformed me. I wanted it to be easier for other folk to benefit without so much agonising soul searching along the way. And without the dogma or religious trappings that had been so off-putting to my younger cynical self at the start. I couldn’t find a place like that, so I felt compelled to build it myself, to start Levitate and share the joy with people just like you.

Braunton

Fireball Beach Volleyball was founded by me, Sam Dunbavin, in late 2019. Here’s a little bit about us, and how Fireball was created. In autumn 2019, I’d just spent my first summer competing and training full time, and I’d decided that I wanted to try to forge a path for myself to make a career and a living from coaching the sport I loved: beach volleyball. So that’s what I did: I set up Fireball Beach Volleyball, took over the lease of Fireball Beach, in London, and started creating a series of beach volleyball events that would happen over the course of 2020 at our venue in London. Then the pandemic hit, and rather than living in London with no income, I moved back home to Devon, and started figuring out how that would affect Fireball. I realised that, in order to really spread the sport, staying put in one venue wouldn’t do. I wanted to spread my love for beach volleyball to as many places in the UK as possible; I wanted to help grow the game, and bring the game to pockets of the country that often don’t see it. So that’s what we’re about now. In 2022, after two years of massive growth, learning, feedback, more learning, listening and asking questions, we are still following that goal. We are aiming to take our Southwest Series, our flagship tournament series in the Southwest and Wales, to eight different beaches this year. We will be running a beach volleyball camp in every single school holiday, to make sure that all those juniors who love to learn from us can do that. We will be expanding the junior sessions we are running in London, after the incredible demand last year, and adding some regular adult training sessions and leagues, too. We’ll be running an elite series for the country’s top players, including our Barry Island Grand Slam. And we will keep taking our beach volleyball camps across the country, spreading the beach volleyball love and knowledge. Of course, I wouldn’t be able to do that without an incredible team, whom I’m proud to have invested lots of time and energy into. I’m firmly of the opinion that, in order to grow beach volleyball properly, we need to invest in people. Coaches, referees, organisers and parents are the lifeblood of the sport in our country, and we are proud to be supporting them-in 2022, we will be issuing bursaries to put five of our coaches through courses. We are also launching our bursary programme for kids, where they can apply to come to our events for free if money is a barrier to them attending. Just some of the small ways I’m proud to be giving back to the sport we all love.
