Tessa Jowell Brain Cancer Mission

tessa jowell brain cancer mission

London

In 2018, Dame Tessa Jowell led a call to action on behalf of all brain tumour patients to tackle brain tumours, recognising that too little progress has been made in the treatment of patients with this devastating disease. Lord O’Shaughnessy, the then Undersecretary of State for Health, responded by convening members of the brain tumour community to design a new national strategy. And so, the Tessa Jowell Brain Cancer Mission was formed by a group of passionate academics, doctors, members of professional and patient organisations and patients. Today, the national effort has grown in scale and size. The Tessa Jowell Brain Cancer Mission is now a Community Interest Company which manages and supports a national portfolio of several transformational programmes in the areas of research, trials, training and patients. Our work is funded and supported by the NIHR, The Tessa Jowell Foundation, CRUK, The Minderoo Foundation, The Brain Tumour Charity, Brain Tumour Research, Brainstrust, Brain Tumour Support and Act for Cancer. The mission is chaired by Professor Richard Gilbertson (Chair of Board of Guarantors) and led by Dr Nicky Huskens (CEO) on a day to day basis. Please click here to see the full TJBCM team. Expert NHS clinicians, nurses, AHPs and academics from across the UK work with the Mission to design and deliver our programmes every day. The programmes are jointly delivered with our partner organisations and managed and supported by our own team of core company employees.

We love getting under the skin of new businesses, discovering how you do great work and the unique strategies which can help you grow. It’s the trust of our clients which has led helped us grow, and we demonstrate that by using an objective review service. Aunty Social is a community arts organisation that gives people opportunities to develop their creativity, learn new skills and connect with others through positive arty activities. We coordinate a diverse programme of arts and cultural activities designed to bring people together in a safe, supportive, gentle space. What about the future? Well, we’re keen to build on everything we’ve achieved. We’re looking to employ staff to help us with our new venue and with office work – hey, if we can do all of this in our free time on evenings and weekends, imagine what we could achieve if we had some help! All in all, we want to continue offering the people of the Fylde Coast even more great things to do. We want to share and make great art in our local communities so we can all enjoy all the social benefits. A little history We started out back in 2011 as a group of friends who wanted something fun, affordable and social to do. There were very few ways to meet new people that didn’t involve going to a pub or a bar. So we raided our attics, scoured our wardrobes and went off to a car boot sale to raise £30 for our very first workshop. Since then, we’ve done all manner of lovely activities and reaching thousands of local people. We’ve received funding from a variety of sources such as Arts Council England, Blackpool Council, BFI, Richmond Fellowship, Leftcoast, Street to Scale and EU Youth Initiatives but this is not the majority of our income. We really believe in sustainability and work hard to earn our own income through workshop delivery, research and creative retail sales; making sure that projects can pay for themselves or each-other. Fast forward to 2022 and we now have a variety of projects on the go as well as online arts and culture magazine Blackpool Social Club and the Winter Gardens Film Festival. We’re still completely volunteer-run and led; we are super proud of all our helpers who help us put on events and activities to a professional standard.

Hi, welcome to my page. I’m Sam, owner and founder of AuroraStar Holistic Therapies & Training. If you have landed here then do have a look around and I hope what I offer resonates with you. I don’t like to be pigeon-holed these days so it’s very difficult to keep on top of all the things I offer and put them all in a “website” friendly way, so if there is anything you wish to ask me, or need clarifying, please just email me and let’s have a chat! So, on with the “about me”….. I created AuroraStar in 2008 with a desire to empower people and help them achieve harmony, health and well-being. After suffering from my own health issues, I sought to treat myself as naturally as possible, beginning my journey into a holistic approach to lifestyle wellness management. Reiki was my stepping stone, and continues to be the foundation and underpinning of all my holistic work. This led me to want to help others in the same way, providing them with the overwhelming benefits that a holistic lifestyle can bring. Having worked in the industry for a number of years now, I am fully qualified to NVQ level 3 , VTCT standard, insured, and registered with the Federation of Holistic Therapists, and the Association of Professional Therapists and Lecturers With a wealth of experience spanning over 30 years in the health, beauty and fitness industry, I have an in-depth knowledge on the capability of the body and all it can accomplish if given the correct tools. So many health problems can be overcome or eased through holistic therapies, ensuring our quality of life is greatly enhanced. I am now trained in many different energy modalities and holistic therapies, and weave all of these into my work. Whether you are in need of simple relaxation or deeper healing, I offer a treatment that will suit any requirement, and training that will allow you to empower yourself to follow your own healing journey. I like to think I sit nicely balanced between the “woowoo” and the grounded!

Cutting edge training methods that are focussed on the learning process of the trainee, supporting the individual’s unique journey of exploration and adaptation, are a great part in what has caused BeeLeaf’s reputation and popularity to spread so far, so quickly. BeeLeaf is a Training and Accrediting Member of the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy. We enjoy the attendance of international delegates, from a wide range of cultural, social and professional backgrounds, who all contribute to what makes the BeeLeaf experience so special. BeeLeaf is a not-for-profit Organisation and was established in 1993 by Hypno-Psychotherapist and Trainer, Pamela Gawler-Wright, to establish a unifying identity for her therapy and teaching work. Pamela has designed and delivered seminars, workshops and training courses since 1986 for many local authorities and established Training Organisations, across the length and breadth of the British Isles. BeeLeaf is a response to the request of many of her clients, trainees and supervisees. People hungered for creative, practical and challenging Psychotherapy training in a learning environment that honoured in practice the presuppositions of Erickson, Satir, Perls, Bateson and Systemic NLP. Therefore, an independent training organisation was created, that grounded its work in the ethical and therapeutic application of Neuro-Linguistic Psychotherapy and Ericksonian Hypno- Psychotherapy. This approach has since blossomed into the modality of Contemporary Psychotherapy. Over the years, BeeLeaf has become a team of talented professionals with decades of collective experience in provision of psychotherapy and training, who have joined Pamela in this successful endeavour. Gill Turner, psychologist and Consultant, joined BeeLeaf in 1997 and assisted in forming the Foundation Certificate in Neuro-Linguistic Psychotherapy. The expansion of activity required the input of a new Managing Director and in 1999 Mandy-Jane Herring, an experienced Educationalist and Manager led BeeLeaf in another evolutionary leap. Not long after this Julia Lloyd, Graphic Designer joined as a Non-Executive Director. BeeLeaf’s team has since grown and is complemented by several other experienced and talented professionals in the field, all of whom bring something very special to the whole training experience.

Publishing and Thesis ServicesWe’re really proud to say, The Book Hub Publishing Group is now the largest independent Publishing House in the scenic west of Ireland with Offices just outside Athenry town in County Galway and in Limerick. 2020 with the global pandemic seemed a good time to institute some change in direction in the life of the Book Hub Publishing Group which has been busy publishing authors since 2009. Very grateful to Niall, John and the crew for their work over the years, we really wanted to get a stronger sense of the company being led by women and promote the idea of female entrepreneurship in Ireland so we had a team meeting (Zoom as we were all in various states of lockdown) and agreed we needed a formal role of Head of Diversity, Inclusion and Equality – Dr. Mary Helen Hensley was perfect for the role with her life experiences and publication interests. We aim to review inclusion across the board in our projects. Our Northern Ireland Senior Script Reviewer, Anna Gray, was happy to maintain and build on her existing role and also move into ghostwriting. Dr. Phil Noone from Ocean Mindfulness, assumed Senior Irish Reviewer role and Susan McKenna took over as Director, Commissioning Editor and Author Rep. Since 2020, we’ve continued to grow and work with existing and new authors from as far afield as the United States, Canada, Switzerland and even Peru and, of course, we continue to work with Irish authors here in Ireland. We’ve also published several volumes of poetry and have more book projects from several genres in the pipeline. Being women in business is particularly challenging, but also deeply rewarding. We hope to continue to pave the way for diversity and inclusion in publishing and are committed to sparking creative talent. *We have been very fortunate to receive Arts funding for several of our books including ‘Eurydice 29’, ‘Midlandia’, ‘Going Back for all I’d on’ from the Arts Office, Westmeath County Council. Indeed, ‘Eurydice 29’ was also funded by the Department of Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht. ‘Bittern Cry’ was funded by Artl!nks and Waterford County Council. ‘Little Pocket of Love’ was funded by Humanli Social Impact Organisation.
