Some workshops may be longer. Resident artist Gill is a member of The Tutors' Association, fully DBS checked. Our studio is located on it's own floor with a separate bathroom and is airy, well ventilated cleaned between sessions. Current Covid advice is followed at all times.

Artistic Director of Sam G Creates, Sam and is currently developing her newest comedy-dance-theatre work: The F WORDZ Show, supported with funding from Arts Council England (ACE). A Dance Artist based in the South West, Sam is passionate about developing exciting and interactive conversations, classes, workshops, and performances. Sam makes uplifting socio-political work with, by and for local communities, inspired by personal stories from people across all ages to grow connections, representation, and a sense of belonging. She collaborates with professional artists and community members aged 8-78+ to create compelling and dynamic storytelling. Sam’s work is athletic, exciting, evocative, sensitive and relevant. Sam Gilroy has interviewed women from Southampton for the F WORDZ Podcast, talking about feminism, failure, freedom, fierce and f***. The F WORDZ Podcast is supported by Hampshire Archives Trust. Surf’s Up! is recognised as the number one surf training centre in the U.K. And how good is our coaching? Well just ask one of the many surfers we have taught to surf over the last 25 years, all of whom have left our sessions with a smile, and most have taken their technique to the next level and are still totally hooked on riding the waves. The quality of our coaching is why top local surfers choose to be coached here. This is also why our surf club for the local kids, the Surf’s Up Boardriders, has five junior surfers who will compete as part of the British team in 2009. This year Wailin will be running the beach again and he has put together the strongest team of surf coaches ever assembled on the beach. This really is the Surf’s Up “Dream Team” and their experience and enthusiasm will be unrivalled throughout the U.K. and possibly the world! Their commitment to their chosen sport is all consuming and totally infectious. Throughout the season you’ll be able to absorb some of this passion and you’ll notice a lot of familiar faces returning to Coach at surf’s Up this year. All of our instructors, in addition to being Surfing England/ISA qualified and trained beach lifeguards, are committed to constantly improving their own surfing

Pupil outcomes across the school are historically strong. However, attending William Edwards is about so much more than just GCSE outcomes. We firmly believe that your school days should be the best days of your life and that schools have a moral purpose to extend the life experiences of their pupils. That is why we boast the largest Duke of Edinburgh cohort of any school in the East of England and are one of only a very small number of secondary schools nationally to hold both the Artsmark Platinum Award and the Youth Sports Trust Gold Award for our work in these diverse fields. We were delighted that our last inspection report noted that “pupils who spoke to inspectors were effusive about their experience in school” and that “the breadth of curriculum opportunities available at the school is a real ‘gem’ in the school’s offer to its pupils”. The school is a proud founding member of the South West Essex Community Education Trust which runs three secondary schools and three primary schools across Thurrock and the London Borough of Havering. We were delighted that our last Ofsted inspection captured our considerable strengths in teaching, pastoral care, behaviour, pupil support and curriculum. Our Aims SATRO is a long established educational charity working across South Central England. We work in schools, partnering with employers to bring inspirational learning to students of all abilities and backgrounds. We have three key areas of focus: STEM Education: delivering in-school workshops, multi-school challenges and events, and research projects which bring STEM learning and careers to life for students from Primary to Post-16. Vocational Construction: delivering BTEC Level 1 construction qualifications, practical construction workshops and SEN independent skills training from school age to young adults. Employability & Skills: delivering careers, enterprise & skills workshops and mentoring partnerships which challenge perceptions and prepare students for their next steps in education, training or employment. All areas of our work directly involve employers in the development of real-world scenarios and careers understanding, including the involvement of staff as volunteers in delivery. We offer our services to all types of schools and students of all abilities - accepting every student for who they are. We provide a full service to schools from booking, to the provision of all materials & equipment required on the day, administration of volunteers and delivery is led by experienced tutors. We measure impact and feedback for all interventions with input from students, teachers and volunteers. As a charity we engage with charitable trusts, individual donors and corporate responsibility programmes. A key focus for us as a charity is to bring our work to those lacking access to opportunities in our three key programme areas.
