The School of Education at the University of Leicester is one of the largest in the UK and has a long-standing reputation for teaching, research and professional development. Formed in 1962, our many years of experience have allowed us to develop effective programmes and training provision, designed to meet our students' needs. We provide programmes for all phases of the study of education, from initial teacher training to advanced research degrees. I came to Pilates after suffering from a herniated disc over 10 years ago. I toyed with classical and the not so classical approach to Pilates for years – from right back to the basics of the fundamentals of Pilates to a more flow/yoga inspired type of class. When I moved to Toronto in the Summer of 2016, I hit the studios hard and started practising 5/6 times a week, sometimes twice a day because I loved the studio and the style of teaching so much. A friend asked me if I had thought about doing my training…fast forward to 2018 and completing my Stott Pilates teacher training in Brighton! i am also pre and post Natal trained through Mama’s Pilates. I am training to be a Moving Fascia Teacher through Evolve Movement in Brighton I like to think the spiritual side of movement isn’t just saved for yoga. Come to my class for an hour of movement, fun and a great playlist! I think the playlist is such an important part of the class. I love feedback and want to cater to you – it’s a two way street, so don’t be afraid to let me know what you want to see in classes too. I look forward to seeing you on the mat!

We support 10 schools, 120 teachers and 2000 children in poor, rural communities of western Nepal: We fund and project manage school building and facilities improvement projects. We deliver teacher training programmes . We twin the schools with UK schools for ongoing educational and cultural exchange. We assist with basic healthcare at all schools: Provide first aid kits to all schools and sanitary towels to secondary schools, Provide basic healthcare assessments on pupils, Provide assistance if parents can't afford or access essential treatment. We are a group of teachers, musicians and technologists who specialise in composition, improvisation and performance using iPads. Ben Sellers and Travis Snyder began running music workshops with iPads in a Hackney community centre in 2011, developing an approach that combined outstanding musical outcomes with implicit development of musicianship and theory. They transferred this approach to both formal mainstream and SEND/ALN contexts, codifying their methods into what became the 2014 textbook ‘Teaching Music with Garageband for iPad’, and a popular teacher training scheme. In 2016, Travis returned to California to become the head of Assistive Technology for the San Francisco District School Board. 2017 saw the publication of several new resources, including a second edition of the Garageband textbook and an increased focus on training partnerships with Music Education Hubs. Since 2018 we have gained an increasingly strong reputation as SEND/ALN specialists, working with MEHs up and down the country to improve provision through co-delivery and bespoke training and resources, including a complete ‘SEN/D Curriculum’ with Leicester-Shire Music Service, and a set of projects for the Charanga education platform. We were nominated twice in the 2019 ‘Music Teacher Awards for Excellence’. Though our reputation has grown, we remain a small and focussed team, working hard to develop in young people the skill, desire and drive to use music to enhance their lives.

I'm a previously P.E hating yoga fanatic who been practising yoga for 24 years and teaching for 7. I always saw myself as a nerdy, non-athletic kid in school until I discovered yoga and the benefits it has on both the body and the mind. When I was going through my teacher training I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia. Although this diagnosis has been in a lot of ways a negative for me there has also been positives. It has changed the way I practise yoga and the way I teach - it has made me so aware of how yoga can help people with physical limitations like me own, and how it can help people deal with mental affects of these conditions. I am now a Yoga Alliance, British Wheel of Yoga and Yoga Federation of Northern Ireland certified teacher who was nominated for Yoga Provider of the Year 2019 in the Health and Fitness Awards NI and winner of the Yoga Instructor of the Year 2020/2021 in the Prestige awards Northern Ireland, specialising in a completely inclusive yoga, bringing yoga to everyone no matter what your physical limitations are. I bring yoga to people who aren't able to go to a 'standard' class, people who can't leave the house, people who didn't think yoga could ever be something they could do.

My background is in social justice work and capoeira Angola, the combination of which has taken me to complete a PhD in anthropology and to live for several years in Latin America. I came to yoga around 2007 in my early twenties, but it was when I was living in a particularly challenging context, as I accompanied human rights defenders in a favela in Rio de Janeiro, that I developed my own daily yoga and meditation practice. This sadhana (practice) became my inner refuge, and the fire for my resilience, as I witnessed and denounced the injustice experienced by those around me. I honestly felt I would not have been able to deal with some of the situations we experienced, without the inner equilibrium, peace and strength I was able to cultivate daily on my mat. It was this experience, and the desire to make yoga more accessible to many more of the people who could most use these tools for self-and community-care and resilience, that drew me to teach. Following this call, I completed my 200hr Yoga Teacher Training in 2017. In 2018 I participated in two transformative 100hr immersions with my dear friend and teacher, Bex Tyrer, at the Yoga Barn in Bali – Yoga Philosophy and You, and Body Image, Identity and Yoga, which had an emphasis on yoga activism and unwinding the feminine aspects of the practice.

David Simon is an author and educationalist. He is the author of the Genius series that includes the best-selling books How to Unlock Your Child’s Genius and How to Unlock Your Genius Using Black History. He co-founded Simon Education in 1987 which has gone on to support over 6000 African-Caribbean families in the UK. He has won numerous awards as an educationalist and a novelist/poet, including the Peterloo Poetry Award. He is also the founder of Black Book Festival, an annual event to promote Black writers globally. David’s other publications includes: Secrets of the Sapodilla (1986), the play Mountaintop (1987) which was nominated for the London Fringe Awards, the novels Garvey’s Last Soldier (1999) and Pastor Pastor (2019). The company currently runs a publishing house, an online school and provides teacher-training to schools in Africa and the Caribbean. Leonora Simon-Bleasdille has worked as a scientist for over 35 years and taught students at primary, secondary and tertiary levels. She co-founded Ebony Supplementary Saturday School, now Simon Education, where I taught English, mathematics, science, and Black history for over 35 years. Nneb Akpom-Simon has worked in supplementary education for 30 years; tutoring and coaching children, young people and parents. She is also an equalities specialist and has worked in Higher education for over three decades. Simon Education (Ebony Education Community Interest Company) is a registered company.
