Cuckfield Archers was formed in Autumn 2012. Our aim (yes we note the pun) is to provide a fun, friendly and safe environment for all sections of our local community to enjoy archery. We are very keen to promote inclusion in sport of people with disabilities, who are particularly welcome as members. We try to make whatever reasonable adjustments we can so that those with any sort of disability can join us to share the fun and challenge of archery.

We are now a community interest company and we reinvest our profit into supporting autistic adults and young people in education and employment. Our team of autism specialists Our team of trainers and mentors have in depth personal and professional experience of autism and many are qualified to post graduate level in the field of autism. We have an excellent knowledge of university life and academic expectations, as well as what students may expect in terms of reasonable adjustments. We continually develop our understanding of autism and the needs of students in higher education through listening to you, carrying out our own studies and regularly attending training and events. autism understanding scotland

We provide a variety of services to people dependent on their location. For those living in Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire and Shetland we offer 1:1 support sessions to help increase understanding of autism and build support strategies for autistic people, their supporters, and professionals working with families and autistic adults. We also have an Employment Specialist who can support local autistic adults to seek and access reasonable adjustments in employment, and also works with local businesses and organisations who are ambitious about inclusion at work. The rest of our services are available to people living Scotland wide. We hold regular webinars on a host of autism related topics. Training for businesses, charities, health and social care partnerships, police, businesses, schools, and any other organisations are delivered all across Scotland. Our Lunch Club and Late Autism Diagnosis Group has attendees from Shetland Islands to the Borders. Our website’s Information Hub is accessed by people worldwide. We are currently funded under the Scottish Government Understanding Autism program, with the funding being managed by Inspiring Scotland as well as the Government’s National Post Diagnosis Support Pilot. We work closely with the Scottish Government, The Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire’s Health and Social Care Partnerships on local autism strategies and continue working in partnership with NHS Grampian and Police Scotland

Qualified Assessors for Learning Difficulties Dyslexia Plus are here to assess, diagnose, guide and support both children and adults who think they may be experiencing the overwhelming challenges of dyslexia and other learning difficulties. In order for you or your child to receive the best available support, either from a school or employer, you or they will need a Diagnostic Assessment. We carry out the assessment and write your detailed Diagnostic Report. Our reports have life long validity. If currently in education, this report enables a school, college or university to put in place extra support such as additional time in exams or use of a laptop or a reader. You will then be able to use it for workplace support and adjustments. If in, or if seeking employment, a report ensures employees will not be discriminated against due to their specific learning differences, and reasonable adjustments can be put in place to support you in your role. This is in line with the Equality Act (2010).
