Introduction to understanding neurodiversity and working with/adapting practice for neurodivergent clients in clinical settings
Neurodiversity is a current hot topic in counselling, therapy and mental health and the explosion in awareness and debates around it has left many practitioners and services with more questions than answers. Neurodiverse or neurodivergent? Person with autism or autistic person? Is ADHD really overdiagnosed? How do I need to adapt my counselling practice or service? What can I do about internalised ableism?
Free2BMe is a neurodivergent owned and run therapy, coaching and training service. Neurodiversity 101 is for counsellors, therapists, trainees, coaches and mental health practitioners who need an introduction to just what exactly this neurodiversity business is, appreciate straight talk about the tricky questions without the jargon, and a friendly learning space that acknowledges we all need to start somewhere.
We aim to help you feel confident about understanding the language and principles around working affirmatively with neurodevelopmental differences such as ADHD, autism, dyslexia and dyspraxia in your practice/service.
There will be some breakout groups and activities to help cement knowledge and network with others, and a useful resource pack to take away at the end. A recording is included.
If you're looking to do our course on demand via a video recording and don't want to attend live, you can find a recorded version here: https://cademy.co.uk/free2bme/courses
Any questions about the training, or any requests for reasonable adjustments or other accessibility needs, please contact us at training@free2bmetherapyservices.com and we will do our best to help and accommodate.
