After graduating with a BA(Hons) Fine Art at Camberwell School of Arts and Crafts, London in 1988, I returned home to Northumberland to work as a photographic artist and silversmith. In 1994 I trained to teach whilst continuing on my own creative journey. I started experimenting with the many processes in the making of felt in 2005. I fell in love with its versatility, being able to paint with a varied palette of dyed wools, create something delicate and ephemeral using fine wools and silks, or use more sculptural techniques to form vessels. In 2008 I was introduced to the many varieties of coloured willows grown locally for basketry and the traditional techniques used to work with them. It excited me and I started using these to create vessels and sculptural forms. In 2011 I set up Biteabout Arts with the intention of creating unique items for sale and delivering a variety of art and craft workshops. We have been renovating the buildings at our smallholding to provide a working environment and somewhere to deliver workshops. Biteabout Farm is a North Northumbrian smallholding consisting of over 7 acres of permanent pasture. It was formally known as Coalshank (sited near to Biteabout Colliery) and also The Red Lion Inn ...'a troublesome little pub' until the 1940s. Badly neglected in more recent years, we took it on in 2002 and started its transformation. With far more work needed than initially anticipated, renovation is still ongoing, but nearing completion. I am now working in my studio and have a program of workshops on offer here. Sculptures are made to commission. Drawing on their creative expertise of materials, processes, 3D form and design, a working partnership between Anna Turnbull and Richard Charters. Working together, they explore the creative possibilities of your idea. The creative process takes time. It starts with collaboration through drawing, discussion and exploration of materials. An animated armature is created in mild steel by Richard, the bones. Anna weaves the flesh, emphasising its muscles and flow, its movement. It is the dialogue between them that brings the creations to life. Each sculpture is unique due to its individually made metal armature and the natural material of willow. Past pieces can be recreated, but each will have its own stance, character, life.

Lisa Whittleton, Director I’ve had an interest in psychology and how we think, feel and behave since long before University, quite possibly shaped by personal experiences growing up with close family / friends affected by mental ill health. My first role after doing a master’s in occupational psychology (after a short stint in recruitment which was very much not for me) was working as a Vocational Rehabilitation Consultant with wounded, injured and sick service personnel to help them transition to a new career. This was totally inspiring and really opened my eyes to the stigmas that exist in workplaces around mental health and disability. I set up Illuminate in November 2013 as I was keen to influence this positively. At the time, we were not having the conversations we are now around mental health, so I recognise we have come a long way…but there is still a way to go to de-stigmatise completely and ensure we are being proactive around the topic so our teams can thrive at work. I love building relationships with our clients to really get to understand their world and the challenges within it to help bring about positive change. Working in this field is a constant reminder of how easy it is to slip into unhelpful habits in terms of looking after my own mental wellbeing and achieving the right ‘work-life’ balance. I do have to work hard to practice what I preach, and don’t always get it right. This is what makes my facilitation real and relatable for you. I am a people person and tend to be the listener, the support and the new perspective for many of my friends. I am all about socialising, and love music festivals and gigs, alongside what I believe is a healthy addiction to Crossfit…and my cat, Mrs Norris.

In 2012, David Andrews, alongside colleague Chris Williams formed Mr Andrews Online with a vision to deliver better learning experiences for children using mobile technology. The journey began, as Year 6 teachers, sharing ideas and approaches to global audiences on the award wining blog ‘Mr Andrews Online‘. The blog influenced classroom practice both here in the UK and around the world and went on to win an award at the UK Blog Awards 2014 for its ‘Impact in Education’. In 2016 they won an award for a module run in partnership with Hull Children’s University. Since 2012 David and Chris have worked alongside hundreds of schools, teachers and delivered classroom experience days for children (4-11 year olds) up and down the country. They were lucky enough to be invited to present work in the US on two occasions. In 2014 they began working alongside the National Association of Headteachers to deliver courses. Interestingly, David and Chris had articles published in the Guardian and sold the publications ‘Rapid Progress for Boys’ Writing (Girls’ Too) and ‘Programming Made Easy’ to countries across the world whilst writing articles for various education magazines and publications. In 2017, David was contacted by Lee Wilson, the Executive Principal (Outwood Primaries) as their current ICT scheme of work wasn’t working for them, had become stale and didn’t allow the teachers to exploit cross-curricular opportunities. When asked by Lee “To write a scheme to wow the children and be aspirational” the Mr Andrews Online Creative Computing Curriculum was born. Since this time, David Andrews has been working with a leading Multi Academy Trust as Director of Curriculum. This has led to the development of a World Class Creative Curriculum as well as continuing to innovate in the world of Ed Tech and drive Mr Andrews Online forward. Chris Williams continues to consult with Mr Andrews Online alongside driving the world class product – Chatta, which works on the fundamental approach that oracy unlocks literacy. In the Winter of 2014, Pole Place opened its first studio just South of London in West Sussex. A second studio followed shortly after north of the border in the heart of Glasgow’s city centre. Founded by Ruby Rose Jackson in her hometown of Horsham, Pole Place’s original home was on the second floor of a popular bar on Piries Place - B52’s. Ruby had long dreamt of opening her own Pole studio having become hooked years earlier. Qualifying as an instructor, and with an ever-growing Pole skillset combined with a natural passion for teaching and inspiring those around her the initial idea of Pole Place was firmly at the visionary stage. Like any new business, funding was required to move it from the ideas stage to cutting the ribbon. With the studio as the inspiration Ruby began to fly as cabin crew with British Airways. Without revealing the un-glamorous side to air travel, on many random nights in many random places, hotel rooms all around the world became Ruby’s office - any spare minute she could find would go into business planning, designing, developing and creating her dream - Pole Place. Her dedication eventually paid off and she was able to leave her full-time post flying to finally open Pole Place’s studio doors. Pole Place initially began with a handful of clients. Steadily growing within the first couple of years, the Horsham studio later moved into our larger, current home on Church Street in Warnham. In 2016, a change in Ruby’s personal life presented her with a family move to Scotland. This gave way for an ideal opportunity to open a Pole Place sister venue on West Nile Street in Glasgow’s city centre which provides our Scottish “hame”! At Pole Place, we are extremely proud to have created a safe space for anyone to come and step out of their comfort zone and into an exciting new world. 0 Comments I founded The Local Teachers Ltd in 2015, with the vision to make education more accessible and convenient locally. At the Local Teachers, we helped over 25,000 students in the last 8 years to boost their grades and help them go to their desired universities, we have fostered partnerships with 13 schools in London and 3 councils to help them support pupils with our intervention tuition programs in sciences, Mathematics and English. With that same vision and passion, I have founded Ezy Edtech Ltd to purchase assets as part of the liquidation of EzyEducation Ltd via a CVL to make quality education more accessible in different ways. That purchase transfers the rights of the EzyEducation website, courses, and high-quality book stocks of 10,000 with a commercial value of £5-10 per book to Ezy Edtech Ltd. The goodwill and support of ex EzyEducation employees has also been secured. Moreover, we have renewed all suppliers’ contracts such as the Zapper app, which makes more accessible our revision pocket booklets by pulling the interactive videos lessons, and quizzes from our platform to iOS and Android devices which increasingly more and more students are relying on for their revision routines. The EzyEducation platform and customer relationships benefited from £2.5m of investment and reinvested earnings. This means that Ezy Edtech bypasses the development costs usually associated with start-ups. The platform is currently used by over 150 school users (subscriptions of £200,000 in 2019 and £130,000 during 2021 (revenue decreased due to COVID19 exam cancellations). Although EzyEducation Ltd ceased trading on 14/12/2021 the platform has remained in use through this period with zero disruption for customers. Over this period, we had 188,543 sessions, 90,103 users, and 3.25 million hits. This continuation of user engagement is a clear indication of the success we can build on moving forward. With that strong foundation for success, here are our short-term objectives. At the present our most important objective is to secure renewals for the schools Minimise the service disruptions - renew contracts for all our suppliers and staff where possible. Improve our resources wherever necessary - such as creating more resources to make teachers’ life easier - in doing so, we will be complementing with PowerPoints lectures with the video lessons on the platform – so that teachers do not spend so much time and resources in creating lesson plans but rather focus on delivering and
