Join Julia for a series of bite-sized, practical pattern-cutting sessions designed to help you adapt and evolve your existing blocks and patterns.
Each month focuses on a different technique or project to boost your confidence and skills in pattern adaptation and design.
You can join all or some of the workshops, booking on as you want. You can also book the whole block of 4 workshops at a reduced rate.

These workshop will teach you how to construct or adapt pattens, using either a block/slope or a commercial patten . The workshops are suitable for all levels, even if you have never tried pattern cutting before. 




Upcoming Sessions:

📅 November 1   – Moving Bust Darts for Style Variations

Learn how to move a bust dart on a block or  commercial pattern, to a different position and to style the darts into new design features to enhance your garments.  



📅 DECEMBER 6     – Drafting a 6-Panel Skirt.   
 
Learn how to  construct a six panel skirt to fit you perfectly, using your own body measurements, which you can then adapt to make several styles.      




📅 JANUARY 10   – Creating Design Features in a Skirt.

Learn how to construct design features in a straight skirt block or commercial pattern. The theory learnt here can also be used for the bodice, dresses and trousers.

You will need:

Use equipment you have at home to start with :

Tape Measure
The longest ruler you have. 
Hard Pencil 
Rubber 
Sharpener 
French curves if you have (otherwise a dinner plate or other with curved edge) 
Scissors 
A roll of or large sheets(A3) paper (roll of brown paper? etc)




YOUR TRAINER:     JULIA BURROWS

The Saturday Pattern Club is lead by JULIA BURROWS, an experienced pattern drafter and apparel designer, who worked as a successful designer and pattern cutter for 30 years on several brand ranges in South Africa and for suppliers to Marks & Spencers in Britain. 

She has since taught pattern cutting and manufacturing for Fashion Enter in London and now works with Textiles Skills Centre, for whom she develops online courses and leads on-line and in-person pattern and sewing workshops.
