We discuss ideas and projects that use the arts to bring positive change to people who are or have been homeless. We are holding monthly global video meetings to give people in our network, or simply interested in arts and homelessness, a chance to get together remotely. The meetings are relaxed and fun and a place to share news, ideas and creativity. This year we are adding some amazing training sessions and professional development to the schedule. We are also cahnging from two sessions to just the one at 2pm every last wednesday of the month. Come and enjoy the space, learn some new things and maske some new friends.

ow would you like the folks you work with to describe you when you're not in the room? Like it or not, we all have a brand. We're all remembered and thought of based on the impressions we leave with those we share our working world with. That leaves each of us with a choice...do we want that brand to happen by chance, to hope for the best? OR. Do we want to explore our brand; define it and craft it? Do we want to get intentional about building ourselves a professional brand that is consistent and authentic.

In this webinar, Bev Clough and Laura Pritchard-Jones will introduce their new edited collection, Mental Capacity Law, Sexual Relations, and Intimacy (Bristol University Press). Questions as to the mental capacity of an individual to consent to sex are an increasingly important aspect of legal scholarship and professional practice for those working in care. The Supreme Court judgment in Re JB added new layers of complexity, requiring that a person must be able to understand that the other person needs to consent and can withdraw that consent. While this has been welcomed for asserting the importance of the interpersonal dynamics of sex, it has significant implications for practice and for the day-to-day lives of people with cognitive impairments. We will give an overview of what prompted the collection, and reflect on the themes that emerge through the chapters. We will also reflect on how law has developed since the decision in Re JB and some of the remaining problems this poses.

If you have already undertaken some training in Motivational Interviewing (at least half a day)*, you are welcome to join our MI Skills Club (MISC), which is a free community group for Educational Psychologists wishing to practise their MI skills within a small and friendly group. Because MI is a conversational style, rather than a discrete skill, it is not something that can be mastered by attending a one-off training session. While MI is a learnable approach, it takes practice, reflection and supervision to improve. Learning MI on your own is hard, and receiving objective feedback and expert feedback are helpful in developing and maintaining competence in MI (Miller & Rollnick, 2023). Cathy Atkinson and Fi Coley, who are both members of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT), are collaborating to build an MI Learning Community for EPs. MINT (2019) defines a learning community as a network of practitioners interested in the same topic, and the community can serve as both a resource and a forum for developing practice. In each 90-minute online session we will focus on one small aspect of MI (micro-skills practice) and use breakout rooms with small groups to practice skills and give /receive supportive feedback. This event is open to Educational Psychologists, Trainee Educational Psychologists, and Assistant Psychologists. We draw upon positive psychology, with the aim of helping you feel motivated, engaged and purposeful in your EP Career. Part 2: Time to connect 🧠🧠 ( About 40-45 min) Come and find your 'tribe' and connect with like-minded EPs. W e will organise breakout rooms for small group chats, reflections and connection-building within the EP community. You might want to share some ideas with others, find out what others are up to, make connections and explore possible collaborations. Maybe you're feeling isolated (easy in this role!) and just fancy some EP company and connection. We will offer some prompts for your chats and do our best to reduce any awkwardness and make it fun and friendly! Come with an open mind. Be brave. Be curious. See where the session takes you...
