Dyslexia Network assesses and supports learners of all ages with any English or Mathematics difficulties; we have a wide range of assessments for Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Dyscalculia and other specific learning difficulties (SpLDs). We also have specialists supporting all learners who need support in 11 Plus and entrance examinations.

Vicky Ringer is a Specialist Dyslexia Teacher and an Assessor of children with Specific Learning Difficulties. She has a Post Graduate Diploma in Specific Learning Difficulties. She is a member of the British Dyslexia Assocation and holds a practising certificate. Vicky has 12 years experience of teaching both mainstream and special educational needs. She decided to specialise in dyslexia after teaching lots of children within the mainstream classroom who displayed good understanding verbally but struggled to write down their ideas, found it difficult to remember ideas and were often disorganised. She saw how having a diagnosis of dyslexia and being taught in a dyslexia friendly way, could raise a child’s self-esteem and self-belief that they can achieve in the world. Vicky understands how difficult school can be for dyslexic students and is committed to helping them realise their potential through having a dyslexia assessment and through recommending appropriate strategies of intervention. She understands the concern and frustration parents often feel if their child is underachieving and works carefully to assess and recognise the child’s difficulties.

Hello 2 Learn Beyond Limits - My support of your child I am an English Teacher and Qualified Specialist Teacher of Dyslexia and Literacy, with ten years’ specialist experience of working with students struggling with various learning difficulties. I also provide a consultancy service to administer specialist psychometric tests helping us better understand the possible obstacles preventing progress in the classroom. Productions have been broadcast on the BBC, Al-Jezeerah and more, and won awards at festivals around the world. Consultancy, fundraising, project and community development. Vera Media has run commissioned projects and programmes supported by NHS, Arts Council, National Lottery, European Union, government departments, local authorities, national charities, social enterprises, foundations, the Skills Funding Agency and more and is now able to offer its expertise to others. It is available for consultancy on social enterprise, marketing, projects and development for sustainability and within communities.

west specialist inclusive learning centre

It is a huge pleasure and privilege to welcome you to West Specialist Inclusive Learning Centre (SILC). We are a community special school, under the organisation of Leeds City Council. We have 242 learners on roll. The SILC welcomes learners who are aged between 2-19 years with an EHCP which is generic in classification. I am extremely proud to lead a school that caters for a wide range of Special Educational Needs in a truly bespoke and individual manner. Our pupils have varying needs such as CMLN (Complex and Multiple Learning Needs), moderate or severe learning difficulties, social, emotional mental health needs (SEMH) or autism. Everything we do at West SILC is based around the individual and their needs, offering them specific environments at one of our 5 sites is key to being inclusive and individual. Our pupils grow in all aspects of their lives through their time spent with us and leave us as more confident, independent and happy young people ready to access the next stage of their lives. The relationships our staff have with our pupils and their families is at the core of all the work we do, we recognise that the work we do is not solely based in the classroom or at school and it is a lifelong learning journey we are support our young people on. The school has a governing body which supports and challenges the Principal to guide the future direction of the school. West SILC is a regional centre of excellence for the MOVE programme, which supports our learners with physical disabilities to develop functional skills for everyday life – sitting, standing and for some, even walking. We provide outreach to other schools to develop these programmes.
