This course is recognised as a refresher for all First Aid Qualifications and a chance to get together with other first aiders and discuss all things first aid. It is not the same as a requalifier. If your certificate is due to expire you must attend a full course.

Did you know that 30.7 million working days were lost due to work-related illnesses and workplace injury in 2017/18?  It is an employer’s duty to protect the health, safety and welfare of their employees and other people who might be affected by their business. This includes providing sufficient information, instruction and training to employees to allow them to work in a way that does not put themselves or others at risk.  The QA Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace (RQF) has been specifically designed to provide candidates with a basic introduction to workplace health and safety. It is suitable for all employees working in a range of environments, as well as employees returning to work or entering work for the first time.  With all subjects covered in just 4 hours, this regulated and nationally recognised qualification is ideal for providing employees with a basic understanding of workplace health and safety whilst helping employers to fulfil their legal duties.

This course outlines exactly what constitutes manual handling and covers the regulations and legislation that apply to manual handling tasks. It then goes on to cover safe handling techniques and how to develop good habits in relation to manual handling. It finishes off by introducing some practical solutions and the use of mechanical aids. Please note that this is an awareness course only, if your duties include manual handling you will also need further practical training, you can get in touch with us to arrange this. Learning Objectives Define Manual Handling and state the correct technique and application of effective Manual Handling. Understand the relevant legislation and comply with the regulations. Recognise safe handling techniques and be able to develop good habits. Evaluate every manual situation you encounter, recognising risks and when to use mechanical aids. Understand the consequences on the body of incorrect handling and the dangers associated. State the professionals most at risk from incorrect handling techniques.

The Institution of Occupational Health and Safety (IOSH) is a globally respected chartered body that champions the highest workplace standards of health and safety.  Safehouse are proud to offer training of the IOSH Managing Safely course. This training programme is designed for any individual who has organisational responsibilities for managing health and safety risks, resources and workplace practices. Once complete, it provides an excellent foundation for further study for those looking to pursue a career in health and safety and gain qualifications accredited by the National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH) or NVQ Course Programme and Duration The IOSH Managing Safely course takes three full days to complete and covers, in detail, the core responsibilities of anyone tasked with managing workplace health and safety. Those responsibilities are covered in seven distinct units of study: Unit 1: Introducing managing safely Unit 2: Assessing risks Unit 3: Controlling risks Unit 4: Understanding responsibilities Unit 5: Understanding hazards Unit 6: Investigating incidents Unit 7: Measuring Performance To help prepare candidates for end-of-course examinations, daily interactive homework assignments and quizzes will also be set by the tutor.
