By Form & Fire

Come and spend some time in the Form & Fire studio and give pottery wheel throwing a go! In this 2 hour workshop you'll get hands-on tuition and learn the basics of throwing on the pottery wheel. The session is led by experienced potter, Ruth, who will give you her advice and knowledge to help you get to grips with this fun and creative skill. During the session, you will see a throwing demonstration from Ruth and then you will be free to throw as many pots as you like in the remaining time. Usually, participants throw 2-3 pots during the workshop. From the pieces you have made you will then pick your favourite one and Ruth will trim, glaze and finish your pot in the following weeks. There are 3 studio glazes available to choose from to complete your masterpiece! What can I expect from this experience? Wednesday evening sewing and dressmaking class

5.0(2)

By Make it!

Whether you are brand new to sewing or brushing up on old skills our small class is perfect for you to learn new skills. With only 4 people per class there is plenty of time for me to give individual help and tuition. There's no curriculum at Make it! Each student can work on their own projects whether that's home furnishings or dressmaking. There's no point in making a cushion cover if you really just want to learn how to make a posh frock! If you're not sure of what you'd like to make, don't worry I have lots of ideas and plenty of patterns. For beginners, there's no need to bring anything. I have lots of machines for you to try out and endless boxes of fabric and thread to play with. If you have your own machine please feel free to bring it and I'll help you set it up. You don't need to commit to a block of classes. You can book weekly for any of the classes held at the studio. This is perfect if you work alternating shifts or at weekends or even if your look after your grandchildren on the odd occasion. All of the other classes are listed on the main page.
