“Music is the movement of sound to reach the soul for the education of its virtue.” - Plato Our Singing and Audition Masterclass is one of the highlights of the Academy, and an incredible learning opportunity for anyone looking to improve their singing, get started in musical theatre, and perfect audition pieces in order to start attending casting calls or applying to drama schools. The 2-day Masterclass is taught by two amazing tutors: Kath Harman - Kath studied Professional Dance and Musical Theatre at the Urdang Academy in London, and her career highlights include performing with Dua Lipa at the Brit Awards, and travelling the world with Carnival Cruise Line. Emma Hatton - Emma graduated from LSMT and her big break came in 2009 when she made her West End debut - originating the role of Donna in Dreamboats and Petticoats. Following this triumph, she was cast in We Will Rock You as an understudy for the roles of Scarmouche and Meat. Emma has also played Elphaba in Wicked and has a variety of other on-stage credits. Whatever your experience level, this brilliant course will help you break out of your comfort zone in a supportive environment and walk away with an audition toolkit that you can use to start applying to further education or working in the industry. If you have questions about how industry auditions work, Kath and Emma can demystify the process! While the focus of this course is musical theatre, you can choose to work on songs outside of this genre if you like. Please note: Prior to starting the course, we ask all students to submit two songs they would like to work on to In2Drama's Musical Associate Simon Fraser, who will accompany you on piano during the course. Looking refresh and advance your technical screen acting skills? This 5 Day Screen Acting Essentials course held at the World Famous Pinewood Studios has been crafted for those who are committed to improving and developing their knowledge in a practical setting on camera. Over the week you will build camera awareness, understand shot sizes and how they impact performance, hitting marks, script analysis and audition tips. Filming footage throughout the week you will receive immediate feedback from the experienced Directors and see progression to a confidence that can be applied both in self-tapes and on set. Course Outline Screen Acting Essentials Your Week On Camera The course aims to help actors leave feeling prepared and confident in their new skills enabling them to deliver better performances on screen. Day 1: The Technicals Learn and Practice the basic technical skills an actor needs to master to perform successfully in front of the camera. Understand the differences between acting for stage and screen. Topics include: shot sizes, continuity, eye-lines, vocal control, physicality and hitting marks. Day 2: Understanding The Script & Character Development Learn techniques and methods to successfully analyse a script in order to create inspirational and authentic characters. Developing characters you will identify their arc, and find contrast even within a page of script underpinned by voice, diction, physicality and improvisation skills. Day 3: Working on a Film Set To raise your awareness on a film set, you will participate in filming as members of the crew including sound, script supervising and Directing to really understand the challenges of each role and it you should communicate as an actor. You will also film a scene as part of this role-play process. Day 4: Audition Technique Understand how you should prepare for a screen audition. Experience the casting process most commonly in use today and how to avoid the pitfalls of interview ‘overkill’, preparing you for your next audition. Day 5: Lights, Camera, Action Implementing everything you have learned throughout the week, you will film a scene with a crew. With Young Actors Coach Paul Lockwood Introduction Acting classes designed for Children/Teenagers who show a passion for acting and wish to enhance their skills in acting for screen and stage. Actors Studio offers weekend crash courses in Theatre, Television and Film for young actors aged 11 – 16 at the world-renowned Pinewood Studios. Children will work alongside experienced actor and acting coach Paul Lockwood to learn the difference between stage and screen performances, while developing a high set of skills to achieve a truthful performance. With experience in music technology, composing, producing music for video, film scoring, composition and more, Jack’s expertise will help guide budding music producers on their journey to creating amazing music for a variety of formats.  Jack is currently studying a BA in Musical Theatre at the Conservatoire, and also has professional training at Hurtwood House, Guildford School of Acting and Stagecoach in a number of musical styles and genres, as well as experience in musical theatre audition technique, so he is a great asset to our teaching faculty who can advise in a number of areas. When you join this 2-day intensive course, you’ll learn the art of production which can help every type of creative to showcase their musical talents in the best way.
