Learn directly from Leathersmith and London College of Fashion Lecturer, Georgie Tym as she guides you through designing your own patterns from scratch to create a whole catalogue of 3D shapes for bags and accessories along with a basic introduction to leather crafting skills. Who is this course for? This 5-day practical bag pattern cutting and introduction to leather craft course is ideal for all experience levels, from beginners to confident makers. What to expect Join Georgie to learn the basics of pattern cutting for bags with an introduction to leather craft. The course includes a foundation knowledge through to more complex cutting techniques. Looking at 3D shapes and examples from which you can create multiple shapes and details. Learn all the essential skills you will need to begin your leather crafting journey. This is the course for you if you’re ready to turn those bags you’ve been dreaming up and designing into 3-Dimensional tangible reality. Within the course, you’ll also be introduced to techniques and materials suitable for accessories, including sewing on an industrial sewing machine and stitching leather by hand. Upon completing the pattern cutting and introduction to leather course you will take away the knowledge to bring your designs to life. Complete with a set of paper/ fabric mock-ups which can be kept as your reference sample set and leather craft samples you will have your very own library of resources to inspire and generate future ideas. The course covers: Pattern types and shapes suitable for each construction type Patterns for details and functionality features Professional methods and best practice Basic pattern cutting techniques Pattern design/ development and sequences Hands on involvement and demonstrations. There are no additional costs. Basic materials will be included.The course runs from 10am – 3.30pm Monday - Friday. There will be a tea/ coffee breaks throughout and an hour break at lunch. Please note lunch is not provided.The course will be run from the HOME STUDIO of Hands Of Tym in Banbury, Oxfordshire, OX16 9DHParking available on the drive or on the street with easy access via the M40. What you'll do Encourage nature into your garden by making your own bird box or bug hotel, all from recycled materials. Your design can be based entirely around what you’d like to attract to your garden, from birds to bees. You’ll finish with your own completely unique piece for the garden. Your hosts, Scott and Sue, will guide you through everything you need to know, from the tools to use to how to prep your recycled material. They'll be happy to help with ideas big or small and will have example designs to hand and lots of inspiration. You’ll be creating in Scott’s heated workshop, fully equipped with everything you need and with lots of space for building. At the end of your experience you’ll get to take home a bug house to be proud of, as well as leaving with the skills to create other upcycled pieces. Facilities WiFi Refreshments available Toilets Parking Child friendly (0-16) COVID-19 guidelines As you arrive you’ll need to confirm that you’re in good health and your temperature will be taken. Please bring a face mask as you’ll need to wear one at certain points during your experience. Face shields will be optional to wear for the rest of your time in the workshop and these will be provided. All workspaces will be fully sanitised and there will regular hand washing throughout. On the day You don't need any previous woodwork experience, just some enthusiasm! Please wear old clothes (or something that you don’t mind getting damaged or torn) and sensible, closed toe footwear. Work boots are recommended. Tea and coffee will be available throughout the day, but please bring along your own packed lunch. Course Location courses can be either in Glastonbury or at Scott's own workshop near the Bath and West show grounds (BA46QN) and will be confirmed.

What you'll do Design and build your own one-off clock from recycled and scrap materials, with the help of upcycling experts, Black Paw. In this experience you can choose to make anything from a wall or table clock to a Grandfather or Grandmother clock. You’ll each be given a quartz battery powered clock unit and from there you can get creative with your design and the materials you use. Your hosts, Scott and Sue, will guide you through everything you need to know, from the tools you’ll use to how to prep recycled material. For your clock design you’ll have free reign to be creative with your ideas. The style you choose can be inspired by anything and can be finished in colour or natural wood. This is a perfect chance to create a unique piece for your home or make a personal, one-off gift. Everyone is welcome and you’ll not only go away with your finished clock, but the practical skills to continue upcycling. The guided imagery and visualisation techniques you will learn on this workshop are essential for helping people successfully overcome depression, addictions, anxiety and more…. Accredited CPD Certificate : 6 hours Length 1 day (9.30am - 4.00pm) Why take this course This new workshop delves deeper into this essential therapeutic skill’s power and flexibility – you will learn a variety of guided imagery techniques that are highly effective at helping people move on from problem behaviours, reframe life circumstances, lower emotional arousal, make therapeutic lifestyle changes, increase resilience and more. Building on the skills learnt on Guided Imagery and Visualisation for therapeutic change (‘Day 1’), this second workshop focuses specifically on the techniques that allow clients to move forward from depression, overcome anxiety and combat addiction. We also look at how to introduce helpful new understandings to clients in a way that overcomes resistance. Strong emotions focus and lock attention keeping people trapped or stuck – so this hands-on training also gives you the opportunity to further develop your therapeutic abilities to help people rehearse in their imagination any desired change to their behaviours and/or feelings, which dramatically increases the likelihood of those changes taking place in ‘real life’, and then being maintained in the future. Guided imagery, as taught on Day 1 is one of the most powerful psychotherapeutic tools available to us; Day 2 will allow you to develop your ability to use it flexibly and successfully in a range of different client presentations. This course has been independently accredited by the internationally recognised CPD Standards Office for 6 hours of CPD training.
