The Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 require all employers to make arrangements to ensure their employees receive immediate attention if they are injured or taken ill at work. This includes carrying out a risk assessment, appointing a suitable amount of first aiders and providing adequate first aid equipment and approved first aid training to the appointed first aider.

Paediatric First Aid Emergency Paediatric First Aid One Day Course Cost:  £75 + vat per person This one-day Emergency Paediatric First Aid course has been designed for those interested in Child and Infant Basic Life Support, including parents, guardians and family members. The purpose of the qualification is for the learner to attain the knowledge and practical competence required to deal with a range of Paediatric First Aid. The FAA Emergency Paediatric First Aid qualification is Unit 1 of the two-day FAA Paediatric First Aid qualification. From gaining this Emergency Paediatric First Aid qualification, learners could progress to completing Unit 2 and being awarded the 2-day FAA Award in Paediatric First Aid. The qualification is designed for learners with a responsibility for the Care of Children and Babies. It provides knowledge and skills to deal with a range of Paediatric First Aid conditions and incidents. SYLLABUS Role of the Paediatric First Aider Primary survey Resuscitation (CPR including the safe use of an AED) Wounds, bleeding and shock Seizure Choking Minor injuries Recovery position Maximum of 12 People Students must be a minimum of 16 years of age to qualify. Numbers A maximum of 12 students can be accommodated on this course. CERTIFICATION The qualification is valid for three years from the date of achievement. It is recommended that the learner attends annual refresher training. The learner will need to complete the full course again to re-qualify for a further three years. 2 Day First Aid Refresher Description:The 2 day First Aid at Work Requalification Course is nationally recognised. It meets the standards required to help comply with Health and Safety (First aid) regulations. The 2-Day first Aid at Work Refresher Course is appropriate for candidates who are currently holding an in-date and valid full First Aid at Work Qualification. Upon completion of the course the candidates qualification is renewed for a further three years. Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation and care of the unconscious requires physical effort. Learners should be capable of working with casualties at floor level. Learners receive a First Aid at Work guide book, a training dressing and a CPR barrier protection device. The HSE strongly recommend that all First Aiders undertake annual refresher training of at least 3 hours per year.
