If you have a little or no experience, this workshop offers a practical syllabus setting a strong and broad base for you to build on. Covering a variety of screen scripts, you will be taught etiquette on the set, how warm up your body and voice, and how to bring scripts to life on screen. With a wealth of experience in both drama and commercial production, Nathan is well-versed in working with actors at various stages of their careers, from established professionals to beginners. Course Outline You will shoot a scene with an experienced Director who will share knowledge on shot sizes, continuity and eye lines, before providing an insight in to the audition process and the business of being a screen actor. Join us for a special day of reflection and discovery as we explore the findings from three years of research into the Alban Way program. Developed by the Diocese of St Albans, the Alban Way is a year-long journey of spiritual development for young people and young adults, designed to help them grow in resilience, fruitfulness, and prayer. We’re delighted to welcome Dr. Gemma Madle, who will present her report on the program’s work—examining how spiritual disciplines have shaped the experience of children in Year 6 as they transition to secondary school, as well as young adults aged 18–35 taking part in a non-residential year out exploring God's calling in their lives. This is a valuable opportunity to reflect on the journey so far, celebrate what’s been achieved, and look ahead to what’s next. Whether you work with children, support young adults in faith, or are exploring how spiritual formation can be nurtured across life stages, this event offers rich insights and fresh inspiration for your own context. In this private workshop, you'll learn the basics of knitting using a vintage knitting machine to create wearable textiles.  🧶What is machine knitting & who invented it?  The knitting machine was invented by Englishman William Lee in 1589 to make stockings. it's a very small manual machine that enables the maker to create fine, fast knitting. Machine knitting was one of the first major stages in the textile industry that led to the Industrial Revolution. It’s still in use today but unfortunately, it’s become a forgotten craft! So we’re here to bring it back! During this creative and therapeutic class your teacher Valeria will guide you through designing and making your own knitted artwork. You'll learn how to use the vintage knitting ‘machine’ and listen to the wonderful sound it produces as the needles move. The process of machine knitting enables you to have full control over your design. Many people find machine knitting therapeutic and relaxing as you can watch and listen to your artwork come to life. Not only that the results look like those of an expert (even for absolute beginners). 🧶What can you make? It’s smooth, quick performance is perfect for making a range of knits – from home accessories to stylish garments - knit long trendy scarves, and quirky tote bags in under 3 hours… Smaller items only take minutes to do. Valeria will work with you to design and make what you want. All materials and tools are included and your artwork is yours to take home and wear with pride. 🧶Why use a knitting Machine over hand-held? Unlike hand knitting, the beauty of using a domestic knitting machine is that you can knit fast and use much finer yarns to create wearable textiles with a professional artistic finish. She has worked in a high-end knitwear design studio and as a fashion buyer and now she makes kids and adult knitwear @maluk_knitwear (maluk meaning little one in Ukrainian). Enamelling Workshop We are delighted to be offering this super creative workshop. Enamelling is the exciting process of applying finely ground glass to metal which, when heated to a high temperature, melts and fuses to the metal. The process is fascinating, and the results can be extraordinary. At this workshop you will learn how to enamel using opaque enamels on copper and applying them using sieving, wet packing, stencilling and glass decoration techniques. Your experienced and knowledgeable tutor will guide you through the explorative process, demonstrating each stage and offering one-to-one support where appropriate. This workshop is suitable for complete beginners as well as those who have dabbled and would like to further their experience. We aim for you to complete at least 4 pieces during your day. These could be jewellery items, such as earrings or pendants, or small pictures for you to frame. The choice is very much yours. The workshop will run from 10.00am until 4.00pm, with a pause for a ploughman-style lunch. Your lunch and all the materials to make your 4 pieces will be provided, as will a workshop apron for you to wear during your day.
