Relax and enjoy the process of creating something beautiful with your own hands You will also get: - Fabric to make your bag and all other necessary materials and equipment - Expert guidance and tips from your workshop host - Email support for the next 3 months What you need to bring: - Your own sewing machine with its power cable Please make sure the machine works and has been recently serviced. Please bring along the manual and all the accessories that came with it including spare bobbins and the bobbin case if applicable. Don't worry if you don't have a sewing machine, as we have machines you can borrow. - Threads and a sewing kit (you can buy one from us if you want) - Notepad and pen The workshop is limited to 6 people per session. If you want a private group session, please message us with your booking. Note: You need to know how to thread and use your machine. We offer an introduction to sewing machine workshop too, if you wanted to get to grips with your machine. You will receive a confirmation email after booking from our website. This workshop is suitable for adults and kids. What should I bring with me to the workshop? Bring your own sewing machine with it’s power cable if you are not borrowing from us. The manual and all the accessories the machine came with Bobbin, bobbin case if applicable Threads and a full sewing kit. You can purchase one from us Notepad and pen How many participants will attend this workshop? There will be a maximum of 6 participants at this workshop. Small groups work best as everyone gets a chance to learn and ask questions. Please note: The workshop would be rescheduled if there are less than 3 participants booked for the date. Is the venue wheelchair accessible? Unfortunately, this venue isn't wheelchair accessible. There are 2 short sets of stairs to get to the room. Would you love to learn how to make beautiful quilts and home decor but weren't sure where to start? Can you sew a straight stitch on a sewing machine? If the answer is 'yes' to any of the above, then this beginner workshop is for you! In this beginner-friendly sewing workshop, you'll learn from a how to use the sewing machine to create your own Patchwork Quilted Cushion You will sew 5-inch squares together to form a pieced cushion front in a layout of your choosing. You will learn how to piece (baste) the 3 layers together, patchwork top, wadding layer and backing, then quilt all three layers together to make your cushion front. You will finish by making an envelope-style back to complete your cushion Don't worry if you've never tried quilting or patchwork before, as you'll have all the help and support you need , along with plenty of tea, coffee and cake to keep you going. You'll leave the class with your gorgeous cushion cover, along with all the skills you've learned during this fun and friendly sewing workshop. All materials and equipment will be provided and you will go home with a finished 42x42cm patchwork and quilted cushion. A 42x42cm cushion insert will be needed for your finished cover. You can bring this with you to the class if you wish.  Plenty of tea and coffee will be served throughout the workshop along with freshly baked cake. We won't have a formal lunch break but please feel free to bring a packed lunch which you can keep in our fridge

Want to sew your own clothes, or simply want to get to grips with that sewing machine that’s gathering dust in the corner? Join us fortnightly on Wednesday mornings and lose yourself in sewing. It’s all very relaxed and informal; we have large cutting tables for your pattern cutting and will help guide you through how to get the best out of your machine, whilst making something beautiful to take home. Bring your own machine, or if you’ve not invested in a machine yet use one of ours. Places are limited so please book to avoid disappointment.

Make your own Christmas Stocking using woven fabrics and a sewing machine.

Come and join Janine at Stitching Kitchen for a weekend learning how to make a log cabin quilt. This workshop will take place over two full Saturdays. It is suitable for total novices, taking you through everything you need to know to build confidence in quilt-making. If you are a more experienced quilter, you will enjoy learning a new technique that has so many creative possiblities, and you can benefit from Janine’s years of experience to pick up tips and tricks for a professional, polished quilt. Log cabin quilting gets its name from the layout of the pieces - log-shaped strips built up around a central square, or ‘hearth’. It's a great quilt for getting through your scraps. Or, you can use precut 2 ½-inch strips, like Jelly Rolls, which make the process easier and just as enjoyable. Log cabin quilting is really versatile because the fabric choices, layouts and positioning can be used to make such a huge range of patterns. Your tutor Janine also holds monthly long-arm clinics at Stitching Kitchen that you'd be welcome to drop into if you'd like any further pointers, or would like to outsource the quilt finishing to her! What you will learn/achieve Skills in measuring, cutting and sewing this traditional block. How to create a huge range of patterns with your fabric choices, layouts and positioning. If you’re not yet comfortable with a rotary cutter and ruler, you can use precut 2 ½-inch strips, like Jelly Rolls, which make the process easier and just as enjoyable. The quilt size is flexible and can be adjusted based on your experience/speed. What's included Tuition: full instruction and support in a small class (maximum of 6). Written instructions that you can take away and refer back to at home. Use of all the tools you will need during the workshop. Use of the Pfaff sewing machines in Stitching Kitchen's fully equipped studio.  Tea and cake. What to bring Fabrics to make your log cabin blocks. We will send you a materials list, but just give us a call or drop in to the studio if you would like further advice, and we can also make suggestions about where to purchase quilting fabric. This is a great quilt for getting through your scraps, or sewing with a jelly roll! Stitching Kitchen has thread available to purchase. You won’t need to bring anything else and you can leave your sewing machine at home. Stitching Kitchen is fully equipped with Pfaff sewing machines and all the quilting tools and sewing kit for use during the workshop. Stitching Kitchen also stocks a full range of haberdashery, batting and quilting tools if you discover anything you would like to purchase to use at home.
