Qualification Information This qualification and learning outcomes are based on the recommendations of: The Resuscitation Council (UK) Skills for Health Assessment Principles for First Aid Qualifications Course Content Following this course students will be able to Understand the role and responsibilities of a paediatric first aider. Be able to administer first aid to an infant and a child with head, neck or back injury. Assess an emergency situation safely. Understand how to administer first aid to an infant with conditions affecting the eyes, ears and nose. Be able to provide first aid for an infant and a child who is unresponsive and breathing normally. Understand how to administer emergency first aid to an infant and a child with an acute medical condition or sudden illness. Be able to provide first aid for an infant and a child who is unresponsive and not breathing normally. Understand how to administer first aid to an infant and a child who is experiencing the effects of extreme heat and cold. Be able to provide first aid for an infant and a child who is choking. Understand how to administer first aid to an infant and a child who has sustained an electric shock. Be able to provide first aid to an infant and a child with external bleeding. Understand how to administer first aid to an infant and a child with burns or scalds. Be able to provide first aid to an infant and a child who is suffering from shock. Understand how to administer first aid to an infant and a child who has been poisoned. Understand how to administer first aid to an infant and a child with bites, stings and minor injuries. Understand how to provide first aid to an infant or child with anaphylaxis. Who should attend? This qualification is for people who have a specific responsibility at work, or in voluntary and community activities, to provide first aid to children (including babies) when dealing with: An emergency situation. Chronic or sudden paediatric illness. Paediatric injury. Pre-requisites Students must be at least 16 years old on the first day of training. Assessment and Certifications Assessment of this course is continuous and also includes 2 theory/multiple choice question papers. Successful students will receive an Immerse Training Certificate, which is valid for three years. This certificate will be issued by Qualsafe, the awarding body for Immerse Training. Additional Information Completion of the Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid at Work includes 2 credits at Level 2 of the Qualification Credit Framework (QCF). Paediatric First Aid Courses First Aid courses for individuals and workplaces who provide care to or work with children and young people. Our paediatric courses are fully accredited, registered and meet Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and OFSTED guidelines. From 1 day Emergency Paediatric First Aid to day Paediatric First Aid courses. We specialise in on-site courses at your workplace, tailored to the specific risks associated with your business. All courses can be delivered at our training centre in Poole, Dorset or we can deliver on-site across Bournemouth, Poole, Dorset, Hampshire and the South of England.

Where an organisation’s risk assessment of First Aid needs identifies that there is a requirement for Emergency First Aid at Work practitioners, then this national Award in Emergency First Aid at Work satisfies the requirements of the regulatory body for First Aid – the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). All learners will have the skills and knowledge to provide the organisation with Emergency First Aider’s that can provide treatment to their casualties in a prompt, safe and effective manner. This training takes place at our Birmingham Training Centre on the Hagley Road in Edgbaston.

This course is for people who are often the first to respond to a possible medical emergency. This encompasses Police, Firefighters, and medical staff at festivals and events. It also includes Emergency/Community First Responders, Door Supervisors, Close Protection Operatives, and Security Guards. Individuals working in high-risk environments are also catered for. These environments include the military, power stations, agriculture, and manufacturing facilities.

The QCF approved qualification came into effect on 1st October 2013, along with new guidance on assessing the needs of First Aid in your workplace. Your risk assessments of First Aid needs may well identify the need for Emergency First Aiders at Work (EFAW) either as an addition to your First Aiders (3-day), or where your Company activities are low risk. A lot of our Clients have requested this course as extra cover when working on construction sites or similar works covered by the Principal Contractors trained site first aiders and for smaller works. Aims To give a basic knowledge to help you deal with any Emergency First Aid at Work. Course Content • Responsibilities and reporting • Assessment of the situation • Basic hygiene in First Aid • Dealing with an unresponsive casualty • Resuscitation and AED (defib) • Heart attacks • Bleeding • Minor injuries • Choking • Shock • Seizures. Prerequisites None - The course is intended either as an introduction or as a refresher. Assessment Delegates will be required to pass a multiple-choice test at the end of the training. (In addition, the HSE strongly recommend that all students undergo an annual refresher programme of about 3 hours, although this is not mandatory). Certificate On successful completion of the course, all delegates will receive a certificate of attendance. Instructions We regret that we may not be able to accept people onto a course who are more than 30 minutes late due to contact hours and the content that would be missed. Emergency First Aid at Work: What will you learn? The course covers everything listed below. There will be practical demonstrations, a bit of role playing and some activities to keep things engaging and interesting. I’m happy to tailor the content with additions. For instance, if you’d like me to focus on treating sprained ankles because this is a particular risk at your workplace, that’s fine. During the course, you’ll be trying out your newly-learned techniques with a whole range of equipment, including mannequins. And… this course includes the Bra Off, Defib On. Did you know that women are less likely than men to survive when a defibrillator is used on them in a medical emergency? Proper pad placement is crucial, and you’ll learn this life-saving skill. The QNUK Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (RQF) is ideal for those employers that need to meet the minimum requirement of first aid regulations; typically those working in shops, offices and other low risk environments.
