Cursillo is a movement in the Christian church aimed at committed Christians that is built on three principles of prayer, study and action. It started in Spain and the name comes from the Spanish word for a ‘short course’. It helps us to grow into a deeper relationship with God, become more effective witnesses to Christ, and to encourage and support fellow Christians. Cursillo is active in many dioceses around the country and was first commissioned in our diocese by the Bishop of Hertford on behalf of the Bishop of St Albans in October 2011. We are offering an ‘Explore Cursillo’ afternoon on Saturday 22nd November as part of the Year of Spiritual Renewal and Wellbeing. The afternoon is aimed at both clergy and lay people who want to understand more about the movement. There will be short talks explaining how Cursillo works as well as the opportunity to join with existing Cursillo members to find out how it benefits them.
