Join Harriet Shepard Art at Harbour View Studio in the heart of Compton Acres gardens to make your own coasters using fluid art techniques. A wellness space is created with relaxing scents and sounds for an immersive experience where you can escape from it all in a world of colour and creativity.  Children 10 and over who have an interest in art, may come along if accompanied by an arty adult.  You will explore two techniques to create 8 coasters, 4 in each style. 1 from the 8 will be selected to be made into printed hardback coasters 3 sets of 4 in a box. 3 Christmas gifts sorted!  All skill levels are welcome. The workshop will include: A relaxing welcome and introduction to techniques Preparing to create on tiles Colour combinations Mixology of paints for the 2 techniques CREATION Selection of Coaster for print You will have the option to have the 8 originals presented in a frame as a piece of art at an additional cost. These can not be used as coasters unless they are heat proof resin coated, this is something we are unable to offer in this studio space but can be discussed with Harriet.  Fluid art can be a messy business! Please wear suitable cloths or bring aprons / overalls - Its often your feet that get caught out . . . gloves will be provided (latex free).  You are welcome to bring your own paints, however I recommend only Amsterdam or Pebeo brands for this style of art.  The studio can be chilly, so layers are recommended!

Stained Glass Workshop: 2 Days

The one day glass fusing course is designed to give total beginners an introduction to a new skill, and allow more time to create a larger piece of work. At the end of the day, you will have created a glass bowl, wall hanging or large wave (approx 30cm x 30cm). You should also have had some fun! I keep the glass fusing classes small, to make sure it's easy to give everyone as much input as is required. There is a 2m gap between all work-stations, to help maintain social distancing. We also provide visors (or you can wear your own mask), and there is lots & lots of hand sanitiser. All equipment & materials are disinfected before the start of each day. You don't need to bring any materials, as everything required to create your piece of work is provided. The only thing you need to wear are closed shoes (e.g. no sandals), and to bring some lunch. We can also arrange lunch at a small cost, if required. You'll start the day by creating a design - you can bring your own, or we can provide one. You'll learn how to cut the glass & then build up your design which is then fired overnight. You will be able to collect your design the next day, or we can arrange to post it to you (you just need to cover the cost of the postage). Timings: 10am - 4pm Buying as a gift? Our one-day sanding and flatting course for automotive paintwork is for experienced detailers looking to add to their portfolio with the ultimate refinement and correction technique to improve results, and productivity, and add a valuable and marketable service to their business. Sanding is a skill which can be used to perfect and rectify the harshest repairable damage and imperfect paintwork. Using a range of tools from electric and pneumatic sanders to specialist tools and compounds, you will work through the day to perfect a series of ever more challenging panels under the watchful eye of our instructors who are there to guide and demonstrate every step. wet sanding is a critically difficult skill which can bring high-yield finishes to a detailing portfolio and turn around the most challenging and rewarding of projects. Course fees cover all materials and lunch, with the day starting at 9.30 and running to around 4.30 pm. You also have the option to pre-purchase the Machine add-on pack - a Flex ORE 3-150 - at a fantastic low price in advance, for collection on the day. Because of the high demand and complexity of the skill, all attendees will need a working knowledge of machine polishers - both rotary and DA - and confidence in heavy correction to benefit from this course as it assumes a high level of competency prior to taking on the most challenging work in a detailers arsenal.
