This is an essential course for all new or inexperienced skippers and crew, and perfect for anyone who wants to be involved in activities on the water from sailing, powerboating, sea angling or diving. The course works well as a refresher, or sits alongside Introduction to Yachting or Powerboat Level 2. The course will give you the essential knowledge when you are on board, from passage planning to safety and navigation. The syllabus will take 16 hours and we run it over a weekend or over short sessions: Charts, publications and terms. You will gain an accredited certificate for reflexology massage practitioner with BH Holistics an approved executive training provider with International Practitioners of Holistic Medicine.

PWCs aka Jetskis are fast and exciting, but need to be handled with care. This RYA course is designed for first time and experienced riders alike. Increasingly this certificate is required for launching in UK harbours, but is also needed if you want to use your PWC abroad.

Welcome to Refashion My Town’s upcycled Denim Design competition! Refashion My Town is a social enterprise based in Chippenham. Our mission is to help and encourage young people to make a positive social and environmental impact through fashion. Our goal is to highlight the impact that fast fashion has on the environment and while doing so, we aim to help young people reduce, reuse, refashion and mend more. And what better way to start is by participating and joining our Upcycled Denim Design Competition!  Why Denim? Denim has become an integral part of everyday life, but it wasn’t always like that. Denim was long known to be worn by working class individuals such as miners, railroad workers and even labourers, before booming into a fashion trend that had not ceased to stop. Now you see denim worn by nearly everyone across the globe due to its easy and comfortable wear. However, denim has done more than become a global fashion trend, it has also contributed to the slow destruction of the environment. Most demin products are made with an overwhelmingly large number of dyes that are highly toxic and damaging. Denim also relies on cotton that needs lots of water and pesticides to grow. Pesticides are harmful to human health and can become an environmental risk but that is just one part of the problem. The production of one pair of jeans could require up to 80 gallons of water which is around 360 litres. This is a lot! This is why here at Refashion my Town, we want young people to reduce, reuse, refashion and mend more to combat the issues the fashion industry has on society and environment. Our upcycled Denim design competition is open to 14-18 year olds on Friday 22nd April 2022 and submissions will close on Monday 5th September 2022. This competition requires you to EITHER:  A. A 3-minute video explaining the concept, inspiration, and idea of your upcycled denim design. We would like to see a mock-up of your design within your presentation, as well as before and after of the material used. You can also include a completed final product or garment but this is optional.  Or B. 1 x A3 sheet with design concept 1 x A3 sheet with design development 1 x A3 sheet with final design including before and after Mock-up of final design ( Final product - optional ).  Please note: this is a design ( NOT sewing ) competition, so entries will mainly be judged based on creative flair and out of the box thinking, rather than technical sewing skills. So play and have fun developing your ideas. Craft workshop using a variety including glass cutting along with designing with dichroic glass elements to make sparkling glass jewellery. Fused Glass Workshop – Glitzy Glass Jewellery I want to share my 15+ years of experience with you. This fused glass workshop is held at my Derbyshire studio and gallery space in the middle of Wirksworth, near Matlock. About this fused glass workshop Everyone loves sparkle and this workshop is perfect for making wearable art for yourself or to give as give away as gifts. After a brief introduction to how to work safely with glass, I will teach you the technique of cutting and layering sheet glass to produce your own unique creations. The process of cutting is a skill that takes time to develop but wonderful designs can be built from basic shapes. No experience necessary, just an understanding that you might not be “perfect” straight away. I’m told I make it look easy, but I’ve been doing it, almost daily, for 15 years! Produce a range of unique jewellery using specialist glass called Dichroic Glass, a rainbow of colours and a myriad of decorative inclusions, you will design and make jewellery pieces including pendants, earrings, cufflinks and brooches. Your creations will need to be fired, cleaned and finished by Stevie so will be ready in around three weeks. The materials cost will enable you to make at least 3 (maybe 4) pieces in the time, maybe more depending on your chosen designs and how quickly you work. Craft workshop where you have a go at simple glass cutting before layering your chosen colours up with textural details to produce your own Big Bold Hanging. Fused Glass Workshop – Big Bold Hangings I want to share my 15+ years of experience with you. This in person fused glass workshop is held at my Derbyshire studio and gallery space in the middle of Wirksworth near Matlock. About this fused glass workshop For this workshop I’ll give you a base piece of clear glass (precut and with a hole drilled (approx 30x5cm) for you to decorate with stripes of your favourite colours. I prepare lots of transparent glass to give you lots of strips to cut to length yourself. Build a design and layer as you like with extra textural details to really personalise your make. This is a great introduction to glass cutting, anyone can do it with the tips and tricks I’ll show you. The main thing to remember is to have fun! You will play with different types of decorative glass elements and learn a little about how the kiln firing will change them. Simply complete your design during the session and leave it at the studio for me to fire, clean and finish with a lovely ribbon, ready for you to display and enjoy. We will arrange for you to collect your piece after a few weeks or I can post your finished piece at cost. I will talk through all the Health & Safety in the session but I want you to know now, you will be handling precut glass pieces, they have pointy ends but with the right handling, they won’t hurt you. Fused Glass Workshop – Set of Trinket Dishes I want to share my 15+ years of experience with you. This fused glass workshop is held at my Derbyshire studio and gallery space in the middle of Wirksworth near Matlock. About this fused glass workshop Create a set of 3 mini dishes, a perfect size for a tealight candle or to store your earrings and rings. Make for yourself of to give as gifts. Explore two different design/construction processes and use precut tiles, rods and frit balls to create your designs. Can’t make the workshop? Still want to make your own fused glass dishes, check out my simplified (but still sparkly) make at home kit. Explore a little in this short fused glass taster workshop and learn a little about how the kiln firing to 800 degrees c changes the raw/pointy pieces of glass to a have smooth, shiny finish. Simply complete your designs during the session and leave them with me at the studio for me to fire twice, once flat and once into the bowl mould. Fused Glass Workshop – Flower Garden Designs I want to share my 15+ years of experience with you. This fused glass workshop is held at my Derbyshire studio and gallery space in the middle of Wirksworth near Matlock. About this fused glass workshop Whether you create a design inspired by wild flower gardens, fields of Poppies, a layer of Bluebells or hills covered in Heather you’ll enjoy playing with glass shapes and textures to create your own abstract and colourful creation. Choose from 3 options of pre cut glass bases and create either a bowl, sculptural wave or hanging panel. Round Bowl – approx. 17cm. Wave – approx. 32cm across x 7 tall. Round Hanging – approx. 18cm Get making by snapping glass rods, sprinkling crushed glass frit and place frit balls for your colourful flower blooms. The main thing to remember is to have fun!
