He has been growing gourmet and medicinal mushrooms for over ten years and has translated his home growing experiences into a social enterprise. He is an Organic Horticulturist and Permaculture tutor who supports schools, businesses and so called hard to reach communities around the world to create holistic and sustainable working systems. Darren is a knowledgeable and dynamic speaker who is passionate about sharing his research and findings on ancient African plant medicines, the history and various applications. He is a member and presenter at the London Psychedelic Society, a chair and Breaking Convention committee member. We aim to inform the development of policy and practice by promoting the best quality evidence produced by educational research.  Our vision is for educational research to have a profound and positive influence on society. We support this by promoting and sustaining the work of educational researchers. Our membership, which is more than 2,500 strong, includes educational researchers, practitioners and doctoral students from the UK and around the globe.  Founded in 1974, BERA has since expanded into an internationally renowned association. We strive to be inclusive of the diversity of education research and scholarship, and welcome members from a wide range of disciplinary backgrounds, theoretical orientations, methodological approaches, sectoral interests and institutional affiliations. We encourage the development of productive relationships with other associations within and beyond the UK.  We run a major international conference each year alongside a diverse and engaging series of events, and publish high quality research in our peer-reviewed journals, reports, book series and the ground breaking BERA Blog. The Birmingham Medical Institute (BMI) was founded in 1875 as a membership organization to provide a meeting place and medical library for the medical profession in Birmingham and the surrounding area. Its location moved from various sites in the city to 36, Harborne Road in 1957. Here it was joined by the West Midlands Regional office of the BMA and Local Medical Committee. It was initially a Library, then a Social Club but in 2009 became the BMI Conference Centre. Much of the activity was based upon the requirements of outside organisations for meetings, conferences and catering. From January 2016 the BMI relocated to the Birmingham Chamber of Commerce. It follows, that instead of administering a building hired for the conduct of meetings etc, the activity will be solely the organisation of meetings. Coincident with this move is the change in medical postgraduate education based upon Health Education, England. There will therefore be an even greater need for the smaller medical organisations to be brought together, a role that the BMI is well placed to fulfil. In order to accomplish its mission its future activity will be concentrated upon Primary care and Public Health because secondary care education is now largely organised nationally by the Royal Colleges and Specialty Societies. The BMI also has a commitment to provide activities for its members

My name is Louise – I’m an Expressive Writing practitioner based in York. My passion is for writing with people from all walks of life, helping them to express their unique experiences and perspectives. I’m a graduate of the University of Edinburgh (English Literature MA Hons, Literature and Modernity MSc), and the Metanoia Institute (Creative Writing for Therapeutic Purposes PGDip). I’m a member of Lapidus, the international words for wellbeing association, and recently delivered a well-received presentation at their Creative Bridges Conference with the Metanoia Institute. I have previously spoken to various audiences about my work as an Expressive Writing Practitioner, including Medicine Unboxed: Students, and the Glagow Refugee, Asylum and Migration Network. I’ve recently completed a year-long residency at Edinburgh Headway Group, facilitating a weekly writing group for people with acquired brain injuries. This has culminated in a publication of the member’s poetry, which we hope will be officially launched in the near future! I have also delivered writing sessions for MOOD (Mental health Options for Older adults with Depression) in West Lothian, before relocating to York. When I’m not facilitating writing groups, I can also be found teaching Pilates classes around the city! Though this might seem an odd combination, I find that both provide fantastic tools for mindfulness, self-care and well being.

His experience now extends across different markets and sectors, working directly with clients and through communication and event management companies and creative agencies He regularly works closely with his friend and business colleague, Nadine Dereza at PS Programmes, specialising in providing a refreshing approach to media training, for those who want to build their confidence and adeptness in acting as a spokesperson for their organisation Ross lives in Oxfordshire with his family, next to the Chilterns, where he enjoys walking, cycling, running, and is involved with his boys' football clubs. He is also Chair of the local Scouts Group An extraordinary network He has travelled extensively working with many different cultures and environments. He works with an extraordinary network of facilitators, including, artists, graphic illustrators, foreign language speakers and learning and development specialists with a diverse range of expertise and qualifications. Games and activities Ross is also the designer of conference and workshop based activities and games. These are highly inclusive and engaging. Ross believes that people learn most when they’re having fun, and if you’ve ever witnessed such an atmosphere, then you’ll know exactly what he means!
