A one-day workshop on sabre coaching led by Truro Fencing Club's head coach, Balázs Kurucz. This workshop will focus on how to create a competitive training environment for sabre fencers and look at exercises for individual lessons. It is suitable for coaches who are already used to giving individual lessons (minimum British Fencing Level 2 or equivalent). Balázs leads the sabre programme at Truro Fencing Club, developing fencers from as young as 6 years old through to Junior and Senior World Cup levels. He has a wealth of World level experience in sabre in Hungary, Singapore and Mexico, and joined Truro in the Autumn of 2012. Balázs has produced many top fencers including a Senior World Cup medallist and Junior World Championship Gold Medallist and many GB champions. Spaces for this workshop are available to coaches and fencers but the primary focus for the day will be to help the coaches develop. Fencers are welcome to attend to take part in any demonstration group activities and to take lessons from coaches.
The ceremony invites us to let go of all the distorted perceptions of the Feminine and reclaim her true nurturing qualities. The Spirits of Cacao and Rose will assist and support our journey with their alchemical transformative energy. The event combines Shamanic Journeys, Cacao and Rose Ceremony (following the energy of the Mayan calendar) and Sacred Sounds.

What did it mean to be a Russian in the time of the Tsars and Soviets? This one-day event examines the building blocks of Russian identity, asking how people expressed themselves through culture, gender, and sexuality. These topics are some of the ‘intangibles’ of Russian and Soviet history. Hard to conceptualise and tricky to teach, they are nevertheless important components of major A-level and GCSE history specifications. Join the Historical Association and world-leading academics for talks to reboot your knowledge of Orthodox Christianity, gender and sexuality, and visual art. Trial new pedagogies for teaching Russian and Soviet culture and religion. Explore primary sources to immerse your students in the world of Russian and Soviet sex, symbols, demons, and death.

Empowering workers with the knowledge to safely move people, clients, residents or patients. What is moving and handling? In health and social care settings, regular tasks often involve the manual movement, lifting, or handling of people in your care. Our moving and handling training courses aim to instruct participants on the legislation, necessary skills and potential risks associated with the safe movement of people. This includes people’s mobility and the varying types of equipment and techniques you will come across. Why is moving and handling training important? There are an estimated 400 million hours of care delivered annually in the UK and these hours are gradually growing due to having and increasingly aging population, playing a crucial role in providing personal care and enabling individuals of all ages and backgrounds to maintain as much independence as possible. Carers frequently engage in lifting activities, which require correct training and experience to minimise the risk of short and long-term injuries to both the carer and the individual they support, as well as the potential for musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs). The operation of lifting individuals presents significant risks for both the supporter and the person being lifted in various social settings, including hospitals, care homes, leisure, and education. Poor lifting techniques and the use of incorrect equipment can exaggerate existing conditions for both parties, sometimes instantly. We offer an affordable alternative to training, with access to the latest techniques and equipment to assist you in your everyday working with individuals, aiming in providing best practice solutions to any hinderances you may come across.
