About this event A two hour sitting after which you will receive the completed portrait in oils on canvas or pencil on paper. The better you sit still the better the portrait. If you are buying this as a present for someone make sure they are aware of this. If you are not happy with the portrait you will receive a refund. Sometimes extra time may need to be spent on the portrait after the session. The completed portrait will be wet if in oils so will have to be transported carefully or can be left at the studio and picked up in a few days so it is easier to transport. Woodturning Experience Days for beginners - Come and spend a day turning your first bowl

To help address this complex and yet commonplace experience, we’ve designed a one-day workshop to help professionals who experience passive-aggressive behaviour and toxic interpersonal communication in the workplace cope more effectively. Designed to be a decisive first step into gaining control over workplace toxicity, over the course of one day, attendees will be taught to recognise patterns of passive-aggressive behaviours and will learn how to respond appropriately to it. The workshop we will work through exercises to help demystify passive-aggressiveness so that it can be rendered increasingly more harmless to those who experience it routinely. Through specially designed exercises informed by the field of Emotion Psychology and Neuroscience you will also learn how to be less affected by it without resorting to repressing your emotions and shutting down.

We'll be learning essential dance steps, from the lovely "plié" to the elegant "relevé". The perfect course for classic car care enthusiasts who have a passion for keeping their vintage cherished vehicle in peak cosmetic condition, and who want to further their knowledge of detailing with a slant towards the classic end of the market. The course will guide the attendee through best practice processes of safe washing, decontamination, inspection, paint protection and preservation, mild paint correction, leather, plastics and vinyl care, and discuss/apply the various protection options on offer including paint type suitability. Course Details: • Assessment of vehicle exterior & interior inspection. • Cleaning, decontamination & preparatory work of the vehicle body: Washing processes, Pre-wash & snow foam, multi bucket methods, acids and alkalis, fallout removers and in-depth cleaning practices. Use of low water, less invasive wash methods and drying techniques • Cleaning, decontamination & preparatory work of alloy, steel and wire wheels. • Paintwork inspection using lighting techniques, depth gauges, and visual cues. Identifying paint types and areas of concern, and how to address them. • Engine bay cleaning and steaming, what chemicals can be used where, brightwork and mare metal care, what can you safely clean? • Practical overview of machine polisher ranges and their usage. • Practical overview of various polishing compounds and pad combinations. • Paintwork and Wheel protection options and application technique. • Glass cleansing and protection practical overview. • Detailing tips and tricks to give you the best results. You will have hands-on experience starting from the very beginning and working your way through all steps of a full enhancement detail, it will then be up to you to build on the knowledge you have gained by practising on your own vehicle, with ongoing support. The course is run from our fully equipped studio in the heart of Gloucestershire, with easy access to the M4/M5, and under an hour and a half to the M25. A full day class where you'll create a couple of pieces of jewellery from silver clay. You'll learn various different techniques and to start your silver clay journey.

This workshop gives you the unique opportunity to experience the basics of two crafts in 1 day in your own personal workshop with one to one tuition. The studios are located in the cottage garden of our home on the Cambridgeshire/Norfolk border. Your experience is private to you and there will be no other students in the studios. The "2 crafts in 1 day" workshop is aimed at those who want to have a go at both of these fun crafts, and come away having learnt some basic techniques for both disciplines. As this is basically a private tuition experience, the course is focused but fun, so would make a fantastic gift. The day can also be experienced by two people (to book this, please refer to our other workshop ""2 Crafts in 1 Day!" 1-2-1 woodturning & pottery experience in 1 day for 2 people" where each person could experience the crafts singularly or together.  This makes for a wonderful Valentine's or anniversary experience, and can also be enjoyed by a parent and child. The morning is spent learning the ropes of woodturning - how to cut and shape wood on the lathe, understanding a little about the different tools required, and making a few pieces to take home. After a light farmhouse-style lunch (which we provide and which we tailor to your dietary requirements), the afternoon then continues with a pottery session. Students can have fun with clay, focusing on some basic hand building methods to get them used to handling the material using the techniques of pinching, coiling, slab building and also throwing on the wheel.  A total of 3 pieces can then be chosen for us to glaze and fire once they have dried sufficiently. When ready, they can either be collected by the student (if they live locally) or I can post them on (I have to charge postage & packaging). Refreshments are provided during both workshops, and a light, rustic farmhouse-style lunch is also included - catering to all dietary requirements. Depending on the weather/time of year, lunch can be taken either out in the cottage garden or in our country kitchen. The sessions are hands-on with expert 1-2-1 tuition - and the student will be able to use all the studio facilities. Each student will also be provided with a certificate of participation for both crafts.
