Immerse Medical are experienced at teaching first aid to young people within the educational sector. We have designed this workshop style programme specifically for those in KS3/4. The sessions are fun, engaging and focus on fundamental life saving skills. Using interactive gamification, students gain hands on experience, which they will draw upon in real life medical emergencies. These sessions are perfect as part of phase 2 of National Citizenship Service (NCS) and Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) Awards. More than first aid – While participating in this workshop young people will also develop their ability to work as part of team, communicate effectively and think critically in high pressure situations leading to an overall increase in personal confidence. Regulation 10 of the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 sets down requirements for asbestos awareness training. Basically, any employer involved in work where there might be a risk of disturbing asbestos, such as general building, maintenance, demolition, or refurbishment, is required by law to ensure that all affected employees are educated and trained appropriately. More recently the importance of adherence to the awareness measures has been emphasised in the Health & Safety Executive’s ‘Duty to Manage Asbestos Enforcement Initiative’ and it is now clear that non-compliance will not be tolerated. In fact, several perpetrators have already been served with improvement notices, or in the worst-case scenario a probation notice, which results in an immediate and costly halt to work. Employee training is believed to be the best way to target the estimated 1.8 million workers who are potentially at risk of life-threatening illnesses following exposure to asbestos in their day-to-day work. These people include plasterers, roofers, plumbers, electricians, demolition, maintenance men and joiners but also the less obvious workers such as computer installers, ground workers, landscapers, and fire & burglar alarm installers. Aims To raise personnel awareness of asbestos and the risks associated with it. To comply with the legal requirement of The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012. Course Content • Introduction to asbestos - nature and origin • Types of asbestos • Properties and benefits (use of asbestos) • Health hazards • Possible locations of asbestos in buildings • Current legislation and guidance • Legal limitations on work liable to disturb asbestos • Working safely/duty holders’ responsibilities • Safe working in areas where asbestos is present • Decontamination • Emergency procedures/accidental damage/general procedures. Prerequisites None – The course is intended either as an introduction or as an update. Assessment Delegates will be required to complete a short multiple-choice test at the end of the training. Certificate This course is covered by certification to provide to your Clients, CHAS (and other SSIP) as confirmation of training undertaken and is valid for 2 years. When there is a shooting, stabbing or bomb explosion the initial priority will be public safety. This can delay the time before the emergency services are able to reach the injured. Our 3 hour citizenAID course enables the general public to be effective in these situations before the emergency services are available to provide professional medical support. This course can be delivered on-site or at our training centre in Poole, Dorset. Qualification Information This qualification and learning outcomes are based on the blended recommendations of: European Resuscitation Council, Section 9. First Aid British Army, Battlefield Casualty Drills Course Content Following this course students will: Be able to use the citizenAID app/pocket guide in an emergency situation. Be able to provide immediate first aid to an unresponsive casualty who is breathing. Be able to provide first aid to a casualty with severe external bleeding. Who should attend? This qualification is for all members of the public who wish to learn lifesaving skills and techniques in the event of a deliberate multiple casualty incident. Pre-requisites Students must be at least 14 years old on the first day of training. Assessment and Certifications Assessment of this course is continuous and will take place through knowledge and skills observations. Successful students will receive an Immerse Training Certificate, which is valid for three years. This certificate will be issued by Qualsafe, the awarding body for Immerse Training. This IRATA rope access course is for candidates who already have an IRATA Level 1 qualification, plus 1,000 hours of work on ropes, one year of experience from your previous Level 1 assessment and a Level 1 certificate that is still in date.
