Please come along and join me at my art workshops in acrylics, linocut printing and soft pastels in the beautiful Derbyshire Peak District. Whether you are on holiday or living nearby, a novice or experienced - everyone is welcome. I am a professional artist and was a heat semi-finalist in Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year competition, I have exhibited with the Royal Society of British Artists and Royal Society of Marine Artist Mall Galleries, London. Wednesday workshops are located at my home studio. You have a choice of working in acrylics and/or mixed media, soft pastels or linocut printing. Subjects include: landscapes, still life, abstract, portraits, etc. The workshops are fun, relaxing and informative. I also hold a Saturday Art Workshops advertised on Craft Courses! I have a relaxed and informative approach to working with acrylics and mixed media and other techniques. I was a professional muralist for 11 years, specialising in trompe l'oeil (trick of the eye) techniques.  Although photo realism painting in acrylics was essential in creating a painting illusion, I have also worked more recently with impasto and mixed media using acrylics which is an enjoyable and liberating experience. I was a former member of the Association of Professional Muralists and have appeared on television and radio. I have a friendly dog called Phoebe! What's included in the price? This course is ideal for all, from beginners to confident makers. You will learn the basics of leather craft for accessories and be introduced to techniques including machine stitching on leather, hand finishing leather, inserting hardware and decorative leather techniques. You will be working with a sustainably sourced lush vegetable tanned leather. This is a perfect introductory or taster course to start your journey into leather craft. In order to complete your purse in a day we will use part pre-cut parts and the purse will be made from a ‘Hands of Tym’ pattern but do not fear there is still plenty of work for you to do. During the day you will be directed by your tutor Leathersmith and London College of Fashion Lecturer Georgie Tym to make a ‘raw edge’ ‘concertina’ small leather purse with small internal pocket and a flap closure. There will be one small stud to keep the purse closed and the opportunity to personalise with initials and a small design of your choice. The dimensions of the purse are H130mm x W 95mm x D 10mm and it will be the same construction as the purse in the photos featured. The course will be run from the home studio of Hands Of Tym in Banbury, Oxfordshire, OX16 9DHParking available on the drive with easy access via the M40. Banbury train station is a 30 min walk. Following a varied career in Accessories design and development across many roles and international brands I set up Hands of Tym in 2016. What you'll do Encourage nature into your garden by making your own bird box or bug hotel, all from recycled materials. Your design can be based entirely around what you’d like to attract to your garden, from birds to bees. You’ll finish with your own completely unique piece for the garden. Your hosts, Scott and Sue, will guide you through everything you need to know, from the tools to use to how to prep your recycled material. They'll be happy to help with ideas big or small and will have example designs to hand and lots of inspiration. You’ll be creating in Scott’s heated workshop, fully equipped with everything you need and with lots of space for building. At the end of your experience you’ll get to take home a bug house to be proud of, as well as leaving with the skills to create other upcycled pieces.
