The QA Level 3 Award in Administering Emergency Medical Gases (RQF) is a regulated and nationally recognised qualification that has been specifically designed for those who have a responsibility for providing treatment to patients who need medical gases administering in prehospital environments. During this 1 day course, candidates will learn how to safely administer emergency oxygen, pre-operational inspections for oxygen therapy equipment and the clinical need for oxygen therapy when dealing with a range of conditions. Successful candidates will leave with the skills, knowledge and competencies needed to safely administer prompt and effective medical gases in an emergency situation.

The QA Level 3 Award in Administering Emergency Oxygen (RQF) qualification has been designed for those who are responsible for providing care to casualties where the administration of emergency oxygen may be required.  Over a half day period, candidates will learn about the clinical need for emergency oxygen and the safety considerations of this, as well as how to administer emergency oxygen when dealing with a range of conditions. Successful candidates will leave the course with the knowledge and skills needed to administer emergency oxygen both safely and effectively.  Achievement of this qualification confirms candidates have met both the theoretical and practical requirements, however, it does not imply a ‘license to practice’ – the scope of practice is determined by the organisation responsible for oxygen provision. This qualification does not allow candidates to obtain, store or administer oxygen without clinical governance.

This qualification is ideal for those already working, or preparing to work within industry wishing to become a First Aider in the workplace for the purposes of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 and the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1982. Topics within this qualification are regarded by the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) as being important in maintaining good practice in the safe, prompt and effective treatment of injuries and ill health in the workplace. How long will it take me to achieve this qualification? This is a 1 credit qualification, with a guided learning hour’s value of 8 and it has a minimum contact time of 6 hours, which is typically delivered via a 1 day course. How is the qualification assessed? Learners must undertake a practical assessment of their competence along with a short open response knowledge assessment, where learners are required to provide a short response to a prescribed series of questions. What next? In line with guidance provided by the HSE, the qualification supports/approves work place emergency first aiders for a period of 3 years, after which point learners will need to retake the course. A relaxed and informal Blackwork Embroidery course in the lovely setting of a converted 18th Century cotton mill in Warwick Bridge, Carlisle. This course has been designed to guide the complete beginner or act as a refresher for those who may have dabbled in Blackwork embroidery in the past. We will cover the history, styles of Blackwork embroidery, threads and techniques.

Focusing on you and your dog outside of a group class setting, in a 1-2-1 dog training session, can be really useful for you and your dog. We can focus on specific goals you may have, from teaching a dog a new game such as retrievals or flirt pole, to training for specific situation such good dog manners when guests come to our house. We can also develop a training plan to help address existing undesirable behaviours your experiencing such as your dog pulling on lead, your dog not performing recall, dog to dog reactivity, dog to person reactivity or even your dog chasing birds or squirrels.   1-2-1 dog training sessions are typically 1 hour or 1.5 hours long, depending on the issue, or number of things you want to look at in a single session. Training can be carried out in your home/ garden or out at an agreed location, such as a local park, if suitable for you and your dog's particular issue. I am also happy for you to travel to me to train your dog at an agreed location. 1-2-1 dog training prices: 1 hour = £60, including follow up report. 1.5 hours= £90, including follow up report. In this beginner-friendly sewing workshop, you'll learn from a how to use the sewing machine to create your own Patchwork Quilted Cushion You will sew 5-inch squares together to form a pieced cushion front in a layout of your choosing. You will learn how to piece (baste) the 3 layers together, patchwork top, wadding layer and backing, then quilt all three layers together to make your cushion front. You will finish by making an envelope-style back to complete your cushion Don't worry if you've never tried quilting or patchwork before, as you'll have all the help and support you need , along with plenty of tea, coffee and cake to keep you going. You'll leave the class with your gorgeous cushion cover, along with all the skills you've learned during this fun and friendly sewing workshop. All materials and equipment will be provided and you will go home with a finished 42x42cm patchwork and quilted cushion. A 42x42cm cushion insert will be needed for your finished cover. You can bring this with you to the class if you wish.  Plenty of tea and coffee will be served throughout the workshop along with freshly baked cake. We won't have a formal lunch break but please feel free to bring a packed lunch which you can keep in our fridge
