The New Normal in Project Management: It's All About the Benefits For many organizations traditional project management is dead. Measuring project success based solely on the triple constraints ignores what's most important about a project: the benefits and value the project should deliver. In this new normal, where organizations rely on project managers to deliver value, not just deliverables, we need better planning, knowledge of change management practices, and most importantly, ways to collaborate with our business partners to make sure we get the job done correctly. LeRoy will provide his insight into the best ways organizations and project managers can, and should, work together to make it all happen. This and other IIL Learning in Minutes presentations qualify for PDUs. Some titles, such as Agile-related topics may qualify for other continuing education credits such as SEUs, or CEUs. Each professional development activity yields one PDU for one hour spent engaged in the activity. Some limitations apply and can be found in the Ways to Earn PDUs section that discusses PDU activities and associated policies. Fractions of PDUs may also be reported. The smallest increment of a PDU that can be reported is 0.25. This means that if you spent 15 minutes participating in a qualifying PDU activity, you may report 0.25 PDU. If you spend 30 minutes in a qualifying PDU activity, you may report 0.50 PDU.
Dynamic Stakeholder Engagement Stakeholder engagement is one of the most important success criteria of any project or change initiative, yet it is often subsidiary to other processes or Participantd downward to managers and staff. Worse yet, it can be set up as a step-by-step, mechanical or uni-directional push communication process. Engaging stakeholders is a planned and highly adaptive organic process that seeks to touch each individual impacted by the change. Successful stakeholder engagement guides individuals to find and communicate their own motivation, embrace the change, and carry it forward. It is that dynamic that causes the change to happen and progress. This and other IIL Learning in Minutes presentations qualify for PDUs. Data Done Right - The Value of Good Communication Wouldn't it be great if you could see important textual and graphical information quickly and easily? What if it could be updated automatically or by using a simple refresh? What if you could easily change that information as needed, or see it right now with tools you already have, on multiple devices? In this presentation we will show you all of those things. You'll see reports that are produced in MS Project and MS Excel, graphical reports in Visio, and a dashboard that uses all of these tools. And we'll top it off with a discussion about what information to present and not present. This and other IIL Learning in Minutes presentations qualify for PDUs. Design Thinking for a Circular Economy Design Thinking for a Circular Economy The most critical and complex problem of our age is how to create a robust economy that is sustainable for all future generations. Design Thinking is a revolutionary and practical methodology, with principles and processes that help people approach complex problems and create collaborative, innovative, and human-centered solutions for Sustainability. The Circular Economy utilizes restorative and regenerative methodologies like 'cradle to cradle' and 'biomimicry' to reshape how we do business, while fostering robust equitable economies. In this dynamic presentation, we will explore how the Circular Economy depends on Design Thinking in order to re-think and re-make our systems and products with an understanding of our Value chains as Material flows. When we create an economy that is just for all, and that fits into our ecological system as opposed to ecology bending to our economy, then we can produce a future that is Sustainable for all. Re-imaging the World´s Economic Data Remember the "Kodak Moment?' It was a term in photography popularized by Kodak to capture important moments. Well, right now there is a Kodak Moment going on in healthcare information sciences. It is associated with the attribute-based data structures that are the basis for the revolution in genetic diagnostics, clinical risk management, and personalized medicine. It is also the foundation and source of the advances in Big Data and Artificial Intelligence in healthcare. In this session, you will learn about a new innovation in business information management called the Locus Model and a new type of business information system called the Functional Information System (FIS). These important innovations have the potential to impact all data management in business, finance, and economics by introducing a universal standard that can unify the disparate systems in disparate countries that we currently use to classify and organize business, finance, products or job information. Servant Leadership Servant Leadership is focused on serving your team, rather than your team serving you. Out of serving one's team, a desire to lead is manifest. Servant Leadership is radically different than when the leader is leading first. When the focus is on leading first, it is very easy to use your power, your title (role in the hierarchy), or the fact that you were put in charge as the basis of your actions. When we employ servant leadership, we support our team as a whole, and its individual members, in their growth and development. We ensure that their highest needs are being met through our support and service. This and other IIL Learning in Minutes presentations qualify for PDUs. The Project Management Odyssey Project Management is composed of many elements. So many, in fact, that it is hard at times to get the big picture. There are more than 100,000 books on Amazon under Project Management. There are three main certification bodies and the latest version of the US standard, PMI's PMBOK® Guide is composed of 5 process groups, 10 knowledge areas and 47 steps. The complexity needs to be simplified. For this presentation, we have gone back to one of the original stories by Homer - the Odyssey. Odysseus and his men were tired after 10 years of fighting and looking forward the journey home. This idea of a journey is at the heart of each and every project. A journey to somewhere else, another place. A beginning, a middle, and an end. We will use this journey to illustrate the correct way to approach any project. In doing so we hope to assist you in retaining the key ingredients for doing projects better in your equally challenging environment.
