Why you should attend Pain is endemic in our society and whatever the cause – back pain, migraine, arthritic pain, dental pain, irritable bowel (IBS), labour/menstrual pain, cancer pain, psychogenic pain, psychosomatic pain – it can be incapacitating. Chronic pain is any pain which lasts for more than three months and it is estimated that between 25–40% of our population suffer from persistent or chronic pain. The sociological and economic costs of this are enormous but it is in the personal human suffering involved – mental as well as physical – that the real costs should be measured. Many are desperate for effective help to relieve their pain and the associated effects, such as insomnia and depression. This online workshop – with leading pain and musculoskeletal medicine consultant Dr Grahame Brown – gives you important new information about how we experience pain – derived from the latest neuroscience – and a powerful range of psychological techniques for managing pain naturally, preventing it from escalating and speeding up healing. You will discover how people can be helped out of the vicious cycle of chronic pain and how, by working holistically through the bio-psycho-social model, suffering can be dramatically reduced. You don’t need to have any prior medical knowledge to learn from and enjoy the day – you will leave with a much clearer understanding of what is going on in the mind/body system, what you can do to reduce suffering when pain persists and ways to prevent chronic ongoing pain from developing. It is a key event if you work with people suffering from pain at any stage (from recent onset, recurrent to persistent) or if you would like to find out how to successfully manage pain without medication. You will learn a wide variety of pain management techniques, which can easily be integrated into your work, to help relieve pain and promote recovery – often in just one session. Dr Grahame Brown has a real gift for helping people heal themselves – I know: I’m one of them!CHRISTOPHER BUCKLEY, PROFESSOR OF RHEUMATOLOGY, UNIVERSITY OF BIRMINGHAM What will you learn An increased understanding of how we perceive pain (from the latest neuroscientific research) and what is happening in the mind/body system A road map for helping people out of the vicious cycle of chronic pain, or to stop it developing in the first place The confidence and skills to help patients suffering from persistent pain of whatever cause – no need to feel ‘heart-sink’ with some patients anymore An understanding of what is going on when pain persists – and what you can do about it How to reduce the risk of chronic pain developing – prevention is better than cure – and identify the factors that make it likely A range of psychological chronic pain management techniques to use with your patients or yourself The importance of the bio-psycho-social model in reducing pain and accelerating healing How to produce significant pain relief by changing the way people think about their pain – in minutes An understanding of the value of pain displacement and how to use the brain’s ‘reality simulator’ What the latest neuroscience tell us about the experience of pain How to use guided imagery, relaxation and distraction to promote chronic pain relief How to deal with constant pain and promote healing How healthcare professionals can make their consultations more therapeutic How to avoid labelling patients’ pain as ‘purely psychological’ The many myths about pain – and why some well-intentioned pain management techniques don’t work and more… No prior medical knowledge is needed for you to benefit from the day. Course Programme The ‘Effective Pain Management’ live online course starts at 9.15am and runs until 4.00pm. (GMT). 9.15am Join the Zoom meeting 9.30am Understanding pain 11.00am Comfort break and discussion 11.30am Assessing a person with persistent pain 1.00pm Lunch break 1.45pm Psychological & Behavioural treatment interventions 2.45pm Comfort break and discussion 3.00pm Practical demonstration of interventions 4.00pm Day ends Who is this course suitable for? If you are a small business owner or consultant struggling with 'imposter syndrome', be reassured - you are not alone. Even the most capable of people can perceive themselves as frauds. This paradox is usefully explained by the Denning Kruger effect, where people of the least ability often perceive themselves as experts, where as those who are genuine experts realise how much more there is to know as therefore underestimate themselves. This special mastermind group provides a 'safe space' for you to be your true self. You will explore your business challenges and the perceived barriers that might be holding you back. You have to be comfortable feeling uncomfortable. You will be taken out of your comfort zone. You will be held accountable for your actions. This group is not for everybody. It is not for people with big egos! It is for people who feel they have so much more potential to tap into. If this is you, signup for the next Mastermind Taster Session.

All organisations today operate in an environment of constant and rapid change. Managing this change effectively is often achieved through a portfolio of formal projects. Many organisations today have qualified and experienced project management staff to run their projects. Some organisations today have dedicated functions, staff or processes to support their project management teams. The very largest organisations have in-house Enterprise Programme Offices, or project management specialists in corporate audit or risk functions; or organise 'Red Team Reviews' of a project by other staff with project management experience who are not participating in the reviewed project. But for many mid-size businesses and SMEs - and even some larger organisations - these resources are simply not available. For them, having access to external expertise to assure project management disciplines and to coach project managers can be a major contributor to project success. Such reviews can take place at project initiation; at major stage-gates (especially if significant capital is to be committed at the stage-gate); or at any other time if concerns arise concerning project quality, cost or timescales. And it is for those organisations that we offer the necessary expertise, on an ad hoc basis, in reviewing projects and coaching senior project management staff. A document review and workshop led by one of our consultants can help you assess whether: The strategic goals and priorities for the project are clear and being addressed Governance of the project within the business is defined and being effectively executed Project roles and responsibilities are clear and effective The credibility and robustness of the project plan can be enhanced Performance measures and reporting procedures are effective Critical risks are identified and being managed and contingencies are agreed The roles, responsibilities and capabilities of the key players in the project team are fit for purpose Budgets are realistic and costs being managed effectively Communication and change management activities are effectively planned and being executed At your discretion, you can capture the outcomes from the workshop for yourselves, in terms of identifying opportunities for improvement, or you can have our consultant write a report and make recommendations to you.

About this Course Batteries are going to play an increasingly important role in the energy grid. An increasing number of developers are looking to add battery storage systems (BESS) into their existing projects. However future cash flows are highly uncertain and they are often unsure exactly how battery technology can be monetised. A strong revenue model requires stacking of different revenue sources. As the share of variable renewable sources in electricity systems further increase, battery systems are expected to play a growing role by providing frequency control and operational reserves as well as for wholesale arbitrage, while helping reduce grid integration costs. The more volatile electricity prices are, the greater the earning potential of batteries trading electricity on various electricity markets. BESS can generate revenue streams in several different ways; through a frequency response contract with the TSO, by providing grid services in other ways or by arbitrage through buying cheap power and selling power for a higher price in a liquid wholesale market. Because batteries are efficient, the round trip efficiency is also high. They can spread arbitrage trading much better than other storage types and in many cases, other asset classes. For companies that combine a battery with other tasks, for example to store power from their own panels, or to avoid a costly heavy power connection, the investment is less risky than for those that purely focus on arbitrage trading. It is uncertain whether electricity prices will fluctuate more violently in the coming years, or whether the peaks will actually level off. During this highly interactive training, the trainer will provide you with the latest insights and best practices on how to obtain the maximum economic beneï¬ts when participating with BESS in the electricity market. Training Objectives By the end of this course, the participants will be able to: Discover the different BESS battery technologies and their impact on the grid Understand the role of storage in providing flexibility to the power system Examine the potential revenue streams from BESS models Learn how profit can generated with BESS trading strategies Determine how to optimize the value from BESS projects Find out how to combine BESS with renewable PPAs Target Audience Professionals and executives from Power Utilities, Energy Companies, Financial & Investment Banks, Renewable Power Project Developers, Transmission System Operators and Energy Industry Regulators will find this training course useful.
