This is a work-based learning qualification for those involved in laying floorcoverings in a Construction related working environment. Although many of the skills and knowledge across floorcovering occupations are generic, not all those employed to fit floorcoverings will be fitting the same product. The group of optional units will allow specialisms of timber based, textile and resilient floorcoverings. What is required from candidates? To achieve this pathway unit the survey work must be carried out in ways that will minimise the risk of damage to the work and surrounding area and using and maintaining equipment effectively. This qualification is made up of 9 mandatory units and a group of optional units. The minimum credit value of this qualification is 127 credits. Qualifications are now required to indicate the total qualification time (TQT), this is to show the typical time it will take someone to attain the required skills and knowledge to meet the qualification criteria, this qualification has a TQT of 1,270 hours. Qualifications are also required to indicate the number of hours of teaching someone would normally need to gain the skills and knowledge to achieve the qualification. These are referred to as Guided Learning Hours (GLH). Planned changes to the Construction Skills Certification Scheme mean that from September 2017, Construction Related Occupation (CRO) cards will be phased out. Without registration on an accepted course, or an industry-recognised qualification for your trade, you will not be able to apply for a CSCS card, unless you apply for the CSCS Labourer Card, to access construction sites. An IOSH Working Safely Certificate, along with a CITB Health & Safety Certificate, allows you to apply for a Labourer Card. Therefore, from September 2017, without a CSCS card, you won't get on site. The Labourer Card may be the only way you can get on site.

The NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Curtain Wall is appropriate for individuals aged 16 and over working in the construction sector who specialise in the installation if Curtain Wall and Aluminium Architectural Glazing Systems and are looking to become eligible for the Blue CSCS Card. The aim of this qualification is to recognise the knowledge, skills and competence of individuals who specialise in this area and upon completion of the qualification, you will be awarded the NVQ Level 2 Certificate in Curtain Wall CSCS Cards Candidates can undertake the CSCS test and obtain the red (Provisional) CSCS card on signing up for this qualification. The red CSCS card can usually be obtained within 7 to 14 days and can be used to access the construction sites for a period of 12 months.
