Burton All Stars provides professional cheerleading programmes to children of all abilities in a fun, safe and friendly environment. We currently train in level 0-2 stunts, tumbling, jumps & choreography in the Burton-Upon-Trent area . Our professionally qualified coaches are dedicated to the development of each athlete's skills whilst taking care to build confidence and self esteem. Athletes work as part of a team towards a shared goal, which often forms life long friendships. Our coaching staff help to instil important values and life lessons whilst encouraging athletes to work to their full potential. We have four competitive teams and three recreational teams ready to shine in Season 5 and we couldn't be more excited! We are located right in the heart of Burton-upon-Trent at the Deferrers Academy Sixth Form Centre. Our mission statement is "To shape the characters of our athletes, enforcing the importance of dedication, determination and loyalty. Within a positive working environment, both coaches and athletes will execute self-motivation, respect and teamwork. Our passion is to provide essential skills to be used on and off the cheer floor whilst building confidence and perfecting competitive and recreational cheerleading skills. I am Jacqui Shankly, and I have worked for over 20 years supporting families with young children. I began working in Early Years community music for the charity sector, working with families throughout Staffordshire and the West Midlands. I loved my work, and what fascinated me most was the power of music to stimulate fun, playfulness, conversations and connection between children and their parents and carers. So began a lifetime of interest and research into early childhood development and attachment, culminating in training as a Play Therapist and founding Moonbeams CIC, an organisation dedicated to promoting positive childhood mental health through direct work with children, and support for the adults around them. My passion and joy is working with families. Parents are their child’s first and most enduring teacher, and the family dynamic forms the basis of a child’s future view of the world. Parenting is one of the most demanding jobs in the world, and everyone needs support from time to time. My approach is playful, non-judgemental and supportive. Whether you access individual Play Therapy or Filial Therapy support for your child or a child in your care, , or access one of my online training courses, then I am confident that your connection with your child will grow stronger, and your confidence to support them through life’s challenges will be enhanced.

At Challenge Dyslexia we understand first hand the difficulties and frustrations parents of a dyslexic child face when navigating the educational process. The method of teaching utilised at Challenge Dyslexia follows the ‘Dyslexia Action Literacy Programme’ (DALP) This programme is highly effective and successful in providing targeted specific dyslexia tuition and is delivered in 1-1/ small groups. Lessons are formulated based on the findings of an evaluation carried out within the initial placement sessions. The lessons follow a tailored structured plan of learning points which are delivered through a combination of exercises, activities and games which aim to build and reinforce each learning point. Our aim at Challenge Dyslexia is to engage students by making learning fun with all sessions designed to promote relational learning. The lessons follow a learner led cumulative approach, which is built upon session by session. Due to the negative experiences some students may have previously experienced within the classroom, a major element built into the construct of the lessons is the promotion of learner independence, self efficacy and self confidence, which aim to increase motivation and attitude to learning. In addition to being dyslexia specialists we also have experience and training in a range of therapeutic interventions, so are qualified to address and help break down barriers to learning from this perspective.

Navigating Neurodiversity

The European Agency on the Development of Special Needs Education (EADSNE) (2006) highlighted individual differences as one of the largest challenges faced by teachers in mainstream schools not only in the UK but across Europe. Teacher training and preparation to support neurodiverse pupils within a mainstream setting has failed to keep up with the changes within the field of inclusion leaving teachers ill equipped to achieve true inclusivity within their classroom. The most recent study of mainstream teachers within the West Midlands highlighted that less than 29% of teachers felt confident to support the neurodiverse pupils within their class with 17% unsure of the meaning of Neurodiversity. Navigating Neurodiversity provides hands-on training and support for mainstream schools to improve teacher confidence when supporting the neurodiverse pupils within their classroom. To provide advice and guidance of ensuring barriers to learning within the classroom/school are permanently removed and providing ongoing intervention and support strategies, including de-escalation techniques to provide and happy, safe and inclusive environment which best supports learning for all pupils. We also work with leadership team, including SENCo, providing support, advice, planning and assessment documentation throughout the EHCP application process to ensure a successful outcome is achieved with maximum support gained for learners with SEN. Neurodiversity is the term to show the diverse way of the way the brain functions, specifically the range of ways in which we learn, think and relate to others (Honeybourne 2018). The neurodiversity paradigm argues that there is not one ‘normal’ way in which the brain functions. Originating within the study of autism to show that there was no ‘norm’ with regard to learning and social interaction and that autism was not a disorder, neurodiversity is now the term used to include all perceived neurological differences including dyscalculia, dyslexia, dyspraxia, ADHD and Tourette syndrome and supports the theory that no set way of neurocognitive functioning is more important/normal than the other and that differences in learning should be supported and embraced.
