Hi! I’m Sarahlynn Hodder, the founder of Bettering Youth I'm so pleased that you’re here to find out more about our passion to support children on their academic and emotional learning journeys, whether that be at home or in schools. Bettering Youth is an Ascot-based tuition company, and we’re on a mission to help children excel both in the classroom and beyond! I created Bettering Youth back in 2017. Over the years we have established ourselves as the only tutoring service that focuses on emotional and mental wellbeing of children. Our unique approach sets us apart and establishes us as leading tutoring providers and mental wellbeing coaches. We work with families in the following capacities: preparing for 11+ exams, studying for common entrance exams study skills and tutoring for GCSE exams building confidence in Maths, supporting reluctant readers, inspiring hesitant creative writers creating full academic learning journeys for home educating families coaching children one-to-one on emotional issues (anger, anxiety, OCD, body image) Both myself and the team of highly experienced tutors are profoundly passionate about teaching children: not only academically but emotionally as well. I’m Laura. Plus Size Mother of two. Advocate for plus size pregnant people and the marginalised. Let’s face it, from your very first midwife appointment, where they ask you what feels like a million questions and then they utter the words “just slip your shoes off and step on the scales for me please” and that’s it. They calculate your BMI and your path of care is decided. You may hear things such as: “You’re going to be put under consultant led care” “I’ll book you in for a GTT now” “You’ll have to have additional growth scans because it’s likely you’re going to have a big baby” “We’ll need to induce you at 40 weeks because of your BMI” All of this is absolute rubbish! After navigating my way through the maternity system as a plus size person twice, I realised that there is not enough support out there for us. There is not enough evidence based information and the information that is out there is hard to find and all over the place! So I created Plus Size Pregnancy so that I can not only teach you a fully comprehensive antenatal hypnobirthing course, but also teach you your rights, how to self-advocate with confidence and how to give birth however and wherever you want on your terms. My aim is for you to finish my course feeling informed, powerful, supported and ready for a positive birth experience. If you are looking for a hypnobirthing instructor who is: Going to be honest with you and tell you the truth about birth Going to teach you about your rights as a plus size pregnant person, how to self-advocate with confidence and how to navigate your way through a complicated and fatphobic maternity health care system Going to be your cheerleader There for you until your baby is born and beyond Teach you how incredible birth can be when you emotionally and physically prepare for it Teach you that being plus size doesn’t mean that you can’t have a straightforward pregnancy and birth and even if you are facing complications, that you still have rights and options Then I’m the instructor for you! I'm not the sort of instructor who is going to be all airy fairy, hippie dippie and wishy washy with you. I'm honest. I'm open. I'll answer every one of your questions even if you think that it might be a silly one. I'll give you all of the information and help you to build your confidence in yourself and your body without any bull.

We genuinley believe that in developing an individual both physically and mentally, they will reap the rewards in every aspect of their lives and it's because of this we are dedicated to not only producing excellent martial artists but outstanding members of the community. Budokai simply means "many styles" and as can be seen from the instructor profiles below, the main instructors all come from different backgrounds. Martial Arts are all essentially the same as there are only so many ways to perform a kick or a punch, however, there are subtle differences between styles which help people of varying abilities to perform each technique. With the wealth of experience that we are now gaining as an organisation there are very few techniques, if any, that can't be taught to people of any level. Whether they saw it on the Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles, on the Power Rangers, or on Yu Gi Oh, children today have been exposed to martial arts from an early age. From karate to kung fu, martial arts provide a powerful workout, but some parents worry that these sports are too violent for children. While it is true that martial arts originated as fighting systems in Asia, today's martial arts provide children with physical exercise, a chance to gain self confidence, an opportunity to interact with others, and worthwhile lessons in self defence. For children of all ages, martial arts are an exciting alternative to more traditional sports. We teach karate, or empty hand, which is perhaps the most well known martial art. Karate is a Japanese discipline used for self defence. In addition to throws and blocks, karate also incorporates punches and kicks as well as weapons. Karate competitions take place at all levels across the UK, and more information can be found from the British Karate Association. No matter in which martial arts your children become interested, all martial arts build confidence, encourage self control, motivate self esteem, and teach self defence. Martial arts are also incredibly safe when taught in an appropriate school, and all qualified instructors will be more than happy to share their qualifications and training philosophies. Finding the right school for your child could well be the first step to a long love affair with the martial arts.

Her on a Hill is a women's walking company launched in spring 2019. Our aim is to get more women outdoors enjoying the countryside with all the health benefits that this can bring. We aim to provide a relaxed and enjoyable guided walking holiday or navigation course where you will feel welcomed and well looked after. We know that without happy customers we wouldn’t have a business and we put a huge emphasis on your enjoyment while you are walking or learning to navigate with us. We know that your leisure time is important to you and we want you to get the most out of your time away. In order to achieve this, everything is organised with care and attention. You don’t have to worry about a thing so once you have booked you can sit back, relax and look forward to some great guided walking and /or learning with a small group of women who want similar things from their break. Her on a Hill offers a range of guided walking holidays, navigation courses, guided day walks and workshops, some with additional activities, but all with walking at the heart of things. We aim to provide different levels of walking and learning to suit most women; from leisurely strolls through to mountain hikes and multi-day treks. Our start up programme is intentionally small but we plan to expand our list in line with your feedback and input so do get in touch if you want to help shape Her on a Hill. About Clare Kelly I am a qualified Mountain Leader and National Navigation Award Scheme Course Director and have worked in the outdoor industry for over 20 years. I began my outdoor career working as a walking guide for Exodus, one of the UK's most respected adventure travel company. While with Exodus, I led guided walking holidays in Italy, as well as Nepal, Morocco, Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, Austria, and Spain. Between 2007 and 2018, I worked as a walking guide for Walking Women, guiding holidays in the UK and beyond. From 2012 to 2018, I was employed as office manager at the same company and combined this role with my guiding. In 2016, I set up Navigation for Women to help women develop new skills, gain confidence in their map and compass reading and put these skills into practice in the hills of the UK. I gain a huge amount of personal satisfaction from passing on the outdoor knowledge that will open up a whole new world of walking to the women who come along. In 2019, I embarked on the next chapter in the form of Her on a Hill. I have long dreamt about running my own walking company for women and I’m really pleased to have taken this huge step. It has been exciting and at times daunting and, now that it is a reality, I am enjoying providing a varied programme of memorable guided walking activities. I hope you’ll join me! Nepal – Where It All Began… In the 90's I lived a fairly sedentary life, living and working in London until one day a friend invited me to join her on a trek in Nepal. At the time, I wasn’t a walker at all but I did enjoy travelling and played squash once a week which, to my mind, meant that I was “fit”. So, of course, I said yes and promptly started training. My idea of training for a Nepalese trek was somewhat ill conceived – wandering the footpaths of Kent and Sussex on a Sunday afternoon really didn’t cut it! In Nepal, I struggled day after day, up and down those trails, cursing and sweating. And then, the mountains worked their magic and very soon it all made sense. The rose-tinted spectacles came out and my life changed forever. I was hooked on walking and on Nepal. The grandeur of the mountains, the wonderful people, the adventure of crossing rivers on rope bridges, the pure scale of the landscape around me, the joy of the simple routine of getting up, walking, eating and sleeping. Reaching Annapurna Sanctuary was simply amazing – to stand in a glacial basin at 4,000m and be surrounded by 7,000m peaks. Indescribable! I’ll never forget the sound of the glacier moving and cracking below as I tried to sleep.
